Food is good and decently priced with good portions. I’ve been a dozen times over the year and haven’t been disappointed.

Dempsey’s has been in downtown Columbus for around 4 years now, but if you don’t work downtown, and there’s not an event going on there, you’re probably not going to go out of your way to check it out. I’ve been meaning to go for a long time, and my girlfriend was really craving a BLT sandwich, so we decided to check it out one Saturday. Unfortunately, at 12:30 pm on a Saturday, they were still serving breakfast, so she didn’t end up getting a BLT, and I didn’t get to try any of the sandwiches or burgers that I wanted to. One thing you should know about me is that I really despise going out for breakfast(and even brunch) for the most part, and I usually leave if a place is still serving it after noon. I decided to stick around that day. I went with the T.A.B.L.E., and my girlfriend had the breakfast sandwich. They were both pretty solid, and I was a big fan of the potatoes that came with them. I really liked the croissant with the breakfast sandwich, and avocado and egg added to the breakfast BLT were tasty. Is it worth $ 10 a sandwich? Not in my opinion, but that’s probably why I don’t like going out for breakfast. Dempsey’s breakfast offers a Bloody Mary bar, and it sounded like it was a bottomless one according to the server, but I wasn’t paying close enough attention. You may want to call and ask. The place is pretty dimly lit, just like most other Irish pubs I’ve been to, and I bet it’d be a great place to come after work for a few drinks, especially in the Winter. The breakfast food was good enough to warrant a trip back for lunch or dinner, so I’ll definitely try to make it back down. Lunch starts at 1 pm on Saturdays if you’re looking to try it but can’t get there during the week. Street parking is pretty easy to get on the weekends and after work, so you shouldn’t really have an issue. If you’re downtown or anywhere near the Commons, this spot is worth checking out.

I liked this place a lot! Went for lunch at 11am on a thurs and it was not too busy. Atmosphere is cool — classy Irish gastropub feel. Menu was reasonably priced, even cheap, and seemed to have a variety of options from simple to interesting. I had the salmon BLT($ 11) which was good. Boyfriend got the risotto + chicken, and that was tasty too. Neither was *life changing* but both were yummy and satisfying. Fries were pretty awesome. We split a Caesar salad, which was below average. Draft list was pretty small, and they didn’t have OJ for the mimosa I ordered. But I would definitely go back!

We spent the wedding weekend of my nephew at the Westin, but most of the time spent at Dempseys. From early morning breakfast to late night dinner when the rest of the family arrived, we enjoyed the drinks and great food. Staff so friendly and efficient, a pleasure to be there. We also rented the back room for brunch on Sunday, Molly was so great! Everything possible with her! Great baked french toast, bacon done perfectly, juice, mimosas, and a bloody mary bar! The bride arrived in her wedding dress, no other clothes for her, we continued the party to the patio with the owner taking pictures, too. Such a fun place to spend your weekend. Thanks Josh for allowing us to spend the weekend with you!

Back at Dempsey’s for Mothers’ Day –had the simple steak & fries, w/coffee — excellent. Our server, Molly T.(yes single guys, totally HOT) was quick, efficient, and no malarkey– ambiance is historical and intriguing, ask about the pic in/near the ladie’s restroom-apparently unsettling! Anyhow, this is a must-eat-here place Fun, good food, great craic(google it, learn Irish) slan, Jim

Really enjoyed Dempsey’s. Food was tasty and atmosphere great. Best of all– the people. Owners and staff go out of the way to feel welcome. Don’t get to Columbus often, but I’ll be heading back to Dempsey’s when I do.

This place had solid brunch. We missed it but they have an all you can drink mimosa and bloody mary deal for $ 10 for like 2 hours on saturday and sundays! The breakfast options were good, the burrito was big, and the bacon was thick. 2 members of our party got the oatmeal, and neither of them ate more than 2 bites of it. My pancakes were a nice size and cooked well, but I felt they lacked a bit of flavor. The décor is great, lots of old political and campaign stuff to look at. We enjoyed it, and it was right down the block from the hotel!

Had high hopes but dissapointing. There was 6 of us for breakfast. Service was very slow and when food arrived it was all cold. Corned beef hash was tough and tasted like maple syrup was spilled on it. Looks like a great bar but the food and servers need lots of improvement

perhaps a great place for a drink at the bar, but not for entertainment and dining. Apparently they aren’t typically prepared for large crowds gathered to hear a local performer. The service was extremely slow, the food sloppy and greasy, customers waiting at the door with no welcome from staff, etc I am not sure who the«reservations» we’re for but it is fair to assume they rely on the Show Goers who are visiting or don’t know about the amazing variety of other restaurants downtown. what upsets me most are places like this that take their customers for granted by serving mediocre food that is best suited for college bar hoppers. On a good note, Amanda, our server, was seemingly overwhelmed but held her own with a smile. She is the kind of server every rest should have.

So I hear about their Sunday brunch which I must try soon but anyway, I came here the other day to celebrate a judge that got inducted into my court so we celebrated with a reception. The drinks were very reasonable and not watered down. I love wine so I got a glass of Merlot for a whopping $ 4.00! The food that they had was awesome. I just tried their chicken quesadillas and wings bone in with bbq sauce and ranch on the side. Totally amazing taste. Hot hot hot food and very reasonable price. I only paid all together less than $ 12.00 and that’s not bad at all. Maybe those were happy hour prices because it was after 4:30 but still I thought that was good for all I had. Parking sucks bc you have to park by a meter or parking garage but since I work closeby, I just walked there right after. The staff and servers were very nice and all had smiles. I will come back to check out if they have any lunch or dinner specials later on. Other than that, it’s like a modern day Cheers in Columbus. Definitely will come back and try some other things they have on the menu. Lovely ambient atmosphere

Good little find! The meatloaf meal was hearty and flavorful, we ordered a double and shared it. It’s paired with homemade mashed potatoes, green beans(we had squash and zucchini), and a really flavorful gravy, I’d recommend this meal! We also ordered the salmon salad, it was fresh, no complaints. Finished with the apple Carmel bread pudding. No complaints, everything was great!

Great food… I got the Greek omelet that was out of this world and the hash browns were spicy… Just what I needed. Lovely bar. Great brunch spot and I had a delicious mimosa(or 2). The owner was there to greet and chat with us!

I went here as part of a Saint Patrick’s day bar crawl organized by friends. We were here at around 1 so we pretty much had the whole place to ourself. I’m not downtown very often, so this is not a place I even know existed let alone frequent. I just had a Guinness while I was here(it was a Saint Patrick’s day celebration after all). It was a cool bar. Clean, spacious. They had a calendar of events they had going on(including live music) and seemed to have a good deal of events coming up. The owner/manager(Dempsey?) was a really cool/nice guy and even took a picture of our whole group behind the bar which was fun for everyone! I’d come back to check it out in its regular form if I’m back in the area.

7WORDS: Laid Back /Hearty Campus Pub-Style Comfort Food A RAINYAFTERNOONINDECEMBER We were looking for Balls, but we found a Homestyle Pub instead. Yeah, if you’re a Columbus Foodie, you already know the«Balls Debacle», where a local restaurant decided to serve only«Balls and Beer» and name itself«Balls». Well, the backlash ensued over the vulgar name and an instant makeover was in order. I had thought this place(Balls) might not last, but I wasn’t quick enough to beat the closing. — So, my lunch partner and I went around the corner to another«Courthouse District» haunt: Dempsey’s. LUcky Us — a visit to Dempsey’s was lonG, LONG overdue. We went in and it was very quiet inside — we were one of two couples being served — then again, it’s the week between Christmas and NYE and it’s a saturday, so all the Lawyers are at home snuggled in bed. That’s great for us: free to enjoy the wide-open spaces. We ordered two sodas and the Nachos for starters. The plate came out and it was piled high with Nachos, Strips of Steak, Guacamole, Jalepenos, Cheese, and Sour Cream. it was filling before we even got to our standwiches — plus it was super tasty, too. . My lunch entrée was the«Cold Weather», a Sandwich with Ham, Granny Smith Apple Slices, Irish Cheddar, Beefsteak Tomatoes, and Heart of Romaine on Toasted Rye. If it sounds intriguing, it is. If it sounds yummy, you’re right there, too. The serving size was standard but the sandwich was still better than most pub grub I’ve had. Definitely in the top 10% When the Bill Came, the total was just a tad steep, but not unreasonable at $ 36 — and that included a healthy-sized appetizer including steak, my friend’s steak sandwich, my «Cold Weather» sandwich, and two sodas. — okay, so that’s reall reasonable unless you’re a penny-pincher like me. ONLYONE Drawback: The sides are almost all starches: Baked Potato, Baked russet Potatoes, Sweet Potato Fries, French Fries(or fruit). I would’ve loved some Cole Slaw or even some cheap pub chips(even ruffles would be a fantastic option to the flat-out starchiness of the other potato options. However, the waiter/owner challenged me to attempt the«Trifecta» which is all three meals in one day — then you get your picture on the wall. Maybe I will. Dempsey’s is THAT Good.

First of all, what a cool, nice space. Sometimes will be a group letting loose after work, enjoying cocktails served by the WONDERFUL bartenders(YOUGO Jenna, Madison, Angel, Katie!!!), or old friends playing some cards with some beers, joking and laughing it up, watching football, or a nice lunch bunch on the weekend taking it easy watching a gold tournament. One day there will be a folk Irish jam band, the next a two person duet with some light rock to serenade dinner. Celebrities from the Westin might show up… SURPRISE! A spirited wedding party brings energy. It can be quite and subdued, or boisterous and lively. It is just limitless in the possibilities. The kitchen staff is great. Very hard working and fun, nice people. The food is excellent. Again, you get casual and simple, a Bologna slider, or a delicious steak. Wait staff is pretty awesome and very interesting. Cannot say enough about the owner– Funny, energetic, quick witted, hard working, and always giving back to the community. Book an event here, you will have so much fun!

I went here for breakfast one morning and had a great time! We sat at the bar and got to know Angel a bit. She was very friendly, personable and quick to serve. The restaurant was average price and the food was pretty good. We shared Biscuits and Gravy, an Omelet, the Stuffed Croissant and I indulged in an Irish Coffee. The Stuffed Croissant is much like an omelet between a toasted Croissant… the key is to see how many times I can say ‘croissant’! It was surprisingly addictive. Overall, I’ll be back. Happy hour is supposed to really good from what I hear with $ 5 Sliders and $ 1.50 Domestics.
