Love the amount of options from this place. Also incredible easy place to swing in and take it to go. Not a place you really want to dine in for dinner. Could be good for a quick lunch but there is no atmosphere. The sushi though is darn good and they have tons of options to choose from. Always seems very fresh and flavorful.

We we’re very pleased with the quality of the food at diaspora! They had the best jjam pong in town! Use to be Poong me(spring of China) but ever since the new owners took over, quality of the food is pretty bad! Not sure who’s the cook? Major problem at Poong mi. As soon as we walked in «diaspora», the place was so packed and lively, they offered me drink while I was waiting. They kindly informed me about my table. Once we sat down, they brought over shrimp tempura dish on the house for waiting! We had ordered Korean friend dumplings for appetizer, it was the best dumplings in town. It’s a Must try! It was delicious! It’s totally home made! The best dumplings I had in a long time! Jjam pong was full of seafood, green vegetables, blue crabs, meaty squid, it was colorful and yummy! It’s served in massive big bowl. Enough for 2 people!(if you decide to share) Great service, great food, good customer care!

Tried lunch special spicy pork and everything is good. It’s a nice lunch choice around campus.

I’ve come here a few times in the past and it was always OK. I’ve gotten the bibimbap in the stone bowl and the sushi in the past. Bibimbap was OK and sushi was good. Yesterday, I was here with a few of my friends and I ordered the Diaspora Combo Box with Beef and let me tell you, the beef bulgogi is soooooooooo gooood. I’d recommend it over the other two items that I ordered in the past. The décor of this place and cute and there is parking in the back of the store. My friends ordered the Pork bulgogi and Pork Katsu, and they were both good as well. The prices are a little on the higher side but, beef bulgogi is super good.

Reasonably priced Korean food. Stone bowl bibimbap and sundubu jjigae are really good. Be warned their ramen tastes like the instant stuff.

Had the jajamyeon and bibimbap last night. Super flavorful and authentic. And the banchan was really good too. The prices are pretty good/fair.

I crave Korean food 24/7, so it’s handy having a casual restaurant down the street from my office. If you’re like me and want everything, the combo box is a good way to get a bit of this and that. It comes with salad, Cali rolls, dumplings, egg roll, and your main dish(I get the beef bulgogi). They’ve added jjajang noodles to the menu(delicious), and I’m also a fan of the spicy soups(kimchi jjigae and soon tofu), especially during this chilly season.

Another place I figured I had already reviewed. Last time I was here was shortly after they opened, and I remember it as a solid Korean-sushi place. Well, it still is. Looks to be family-run, and service was very good. We had several big rolls, plus some Korean wings. The rolls were good, competitively priced, and huge– so big around that I had trouble picking them up with chopsticks(Sweetie didn’t have issues.) We had a California roll, which was pretty good; a spider roll, which had carrots, an oddity for me; and a Godzilla roll, a massive things with eel, crab, shrimp, avocado, and who knows what else. It was pretty darn good; they all were, though not spectacular. The wings were meaty, and the sauce was sweet and zesty. We overordered, and ended up with leftovers. They have great lunch specials, and a very interesting menu. I will be back.

This is my favorite sushi place in Columbus. It is the only Korean restaurant I’ve ever eaten at, so I don’t have much of a comparison there but I’m delighted by the Oh Jing Uh Bokum(squid) and all the side dishes! There are so many side dishes its really great. The sushi is fresh and large. Smooth texture and consistency. Exceeds my expectations. Two thumbs up!

This is my favorite lunch place near the OSU campus. I am a big fan of Korean food and I have had a lot of experience. This restaurant serves very good quality Korean food! My favorites are soon tofu and pork bulgogi. Their dishes are not very cheap overall but the lunch specials are of great value. The Korean lady who runs the restaurant is also very nice. I highly recommend this place.

The spicy beef broth was AMAZING and the space was playing korean music(my jam) and the green tea was perfect and I never wanted to stop eating. Basically. Such great prices, and massive portions.

Went to this place because some friends said it had ok sushi, but I should’ve looked into their Korean food more. Korean food is definitely my favorite, and I’ve been to tons of different restaurants, and this one was by far the worst. I got Kimchi Jjigae and it was really bland, it was basically just kimchi with little pieces of not good pork. The bowl was also abnormally small from any other Korean restaurant, and it was still the same price of 10, definitely was a waste of money. My boyfriend went for the tempura udon, and was pretty hungry so he ordered more tempura shrimp, and six small pieces of tempura shrimp came out; that plate was 9 dollars. On top of that the udon was just that, noodles in a broth, nothing else at all and that was also 9 dollars! I feel bad saying the food was horrible because the two guys serving were SUPER nice! The food was just not worth it. I think I might come back and give their sushi a shot, but their Korean food and Japanese were just sad, bland, and not worth the average price.

Food is very very very bad. And it’s very expensive. The amount you get is not worth the price. But nice service.

A reasonably priced and casual café style Korean place right across from OSU campus. There are a lot of students, locals and visitors coming through this location. I had their deluxe bento box with beef bulgogi($ 16.95), and wife had their Dolsot Bibim Bahp($ 10.95).

Clean, orderly, fast-casual Korean restaurant. I’ve wanted to try this joint since the closest I’ve gotten to Korean is Bibibop in Grandview. Met a friend for lunch, and there were plenty of seats open(yay for summer on campus)! We were greeted right away by two lovely ladies. Got our drink orders and let us survey the menu. I had a few questions regarding the difference in the noodle dishes, and she was happy to explain. She had a great smile and bubbly personality! I chose to try the Jajangmyeon. It’s a noodle dish with black soy sauce, cucumber, onion and pork cubes. It tasted good — and filling! Next time, I’d prefer a tad less sauce, so I can taste the veggies more. I was a bit nervous that the sauce was basically gonna be straight soy sauce — yuck! — but it was not! It had good flavor! For $ 9, this was a decent lunch decision. I’d definitely like to go back and try their bulgogi and bibimbop bowls — the pics on Unilocal look scrumptious :))

Sumo roll. Dragon Roll. Cap City Roll. The Jessica Trio, food experts and adoring fans call it. Despite the corporatization of the campus food scene(wipes away a tear), Diaspora is the beacon of light that reminds students and foodies alike that chains ain’t got NUFFIN on this small business. But Jessica! The rolls are like $ 12 and what le hell. Easy, crybaby. Wait until you see the size of these rolls. I’m embarrassed to ask for a fork and knife but there is no way, unless you are a largemouth bass, that you can glom the whole roll in your mouth. Unless… you want to look like Khaleesi when she eats the horse heart, only instead of blood you have rice and fish all over your face. Needless to say, these rolls are filling AF. There is so much fish stuffed into there! Maximum capacity. And the fish doesn’t have that fishy smell to it(like Tai’s, for example). Considering Columbus is landlocked, the sushi doesn’t get much better than this. And it’s GOOD. Service is good. Ambiance is acceptable. Go for the food, not for a Disney dining experience. And if you call yourself a sushi afficionado, and you haven’t been here before, I call you a quack. Parking in the back! FOFREE.

It’s my second visit, so time to write a review. I came in from the 2 degree weather and needed to warm up, so I ordered the Bolsot Bibimbap. For those of you unfamiliar, it comes in a sizzling hot bowl with rice, veggies, meat, and a cracked egg. It took no time at all to come out and was piping hot. Not only that, there were six different Korean side dishes with it-Delicious! I think this was a great deal for a reasonable price, and I would definitely recommend others to try it.

I’ll start this review by saying I don’t have much experience with Korean food, but Diaspora overall seemed pretty average and nothing more. I ordered the Udon bowl with tiger roll(tempura fish with crab meat) lunch special for $ 8.95. The tiger roll was okay but nothing especially impressive. The udon soup had good flavor, but being just a bowl of noodles with pretty flavorful broth was not that satisfying. Both dishes were decent, but getting a basic 4 piece sushi roll and a small bowl of noodles for $ 8.95 isn’t really a «special» in my book. Overall the food was decent, but personally I would definitely want to try other Korean places or go to other restaurants on high street before coming to Diaspora again.

I only ever get sushi here so I can’t say anything about anything else, but the sushi is always really good here. Definitely my favorite place to get sushi. They have deals on their menus too where you can choose to combine two different kinds. The sushi always tastes fresh and the presentation of the sushi is always on point. The staff there is always very pleasant and really nice. I really enjoy coming here! Also, they have parking in the back so it’s very convenient if you’re trying to drive there!

I love Diaspora. When I attended OSU, it was my go-to lunch spot. I usually bought the sushi, which is of excellent quality, but their entrée items are good too. They have a good number of different sushi rolls, including some fried ones. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and it’s usually packed with customers. They offer some East Asian beers, too. IMO, it’s neat to drink one of those with your meal, but the beers themselves are just average. The TV screens are nice, especially if you go alone. However, they all play the same station. The atmosphere is open and inviting, and provides a nice sense of calm from the bustle of High St. at Lane Ave. There is car parking around back, but this isn’t immediately obvious if you’ve never been. Also, check out their website; it’s gorgeous.
