Based on previous review-ers…I took a chance, and I am glad I did! There are not a lot of options in the downtown area for chinese, so it’s good to know now I have one now. As many others have said, the girl working the counter is definitely not there to be the personality of the place, she was all business. «How fast can I take this order and get back to playing on my tablet!» LOL. I ordered a few different things to take home and try; I ordered a Gerenal Tso’s, a Schezwan chicken and a Garlic Sauce Tofu(their tofu was recommended by the girl behind the counter). The food was flavorful, the chicken was cooked all the way through and the Tofu was done well. The place is really not much to look at. While I was waiting on my food, I looked around and it is a little«scetchy», but hey, I was taking mine home so I wasn’t bothered by it! I like that they have a choice of portion sizes. I ordered the lunch size portions and it was still a good amount of food. My best friend and I both ate and we still had some left. I will be returning!

Whoa never reviewed I used to eat here daily! It is seriously one of the best Chinese take out joints I have ever experienced. Delivery is fast, though they sneakilybsdd in a charge plus a charge to use credit cards, but even still they are reasonably priced. The hot n sour soup is amazing. The pot stickers are amazing. That sauce can be put on in or dipped with anything. House looks me in and shacha or basil chicken. Just the right amount of spice, so stance and flavor. The little girls who run the counter are a bit mouthy somewhat I’ll informed about proper and professional business standards, but they are cute. Goodnjob

We used to eat here all the time until tonight. Took an hour to deliver our order on a Wednesday evening and two out of three of us have experienced extreme diarrhea from this meal. Just lost my faith and trust in getting good food at this place. We will avoid until the health department checks this place out. Had to throw much of the food out since we got sick.

Can’t believe I have yet to review this place, as I find myself eating it weekly. If anyone ever said paper marketing doesn’t work, they lied. We got a flyer at work and we’re chomping on «The New» Dragon One once a week. I’m not sure what«the old» dragon one was like but, the new one has my vote. Big fan of Szechuan anything. Good eggrolls, chopsticks provided, and the best part is, I’ve never set foot in the place, because they deliver. Bazinga. Try this place.

Until today this place has just been ok and since it’s in walking distance I keep going back. Then today I go in and ask if they can make 红烧肉 which is hóngshāo ròu a soy braised pork belly, low and behold they could even though it isn’t on the menu! It doesn’t taste like my mother in laws but it was still delicious and he even added little baby bok choy.

Well, It’s Fall again and I’ve been craving Chinese Food. I just moved to NoBo and away from my Chinese delivery of the last 10 years. So I began looking for a new Chinese delivery. I found Dragon One. Chinese fast food restaurants are all similar and this one is no exception. I have never been inside but the building looks to be an old KFC they converted so expect run down if going in. By my review is about their food and delivery. 1st even at lunch during the week they deliver within 30 minutes of my online order. And they always call when they pull up to the house. Price wise they are more expensive than say mark pi or panda express(at about 10 bucks for a dinner entrée with rice) but they are large portions. I would say about 1.5 times the food that you could get at a mark pi for 7.95… Taste is on par with every other decent Chinese fast food around. The general Tso’s isn’t overly spicy but isn’t bland either. The egg and spring rolls are not overly dry and the crab Rangoon is good. The orange chicken has flavor but not too much spice(I would have liked a but more heat) The fried rice is of typical quality and taste to every other Chinese fast food. They charge 3.00 for delivery and .75 to process a credit card order but those fees aren’t anything to really whine about. All in all if you like Chinese fast food I would recommend eating their food. I can’t speak to the building or ambiance. Just my 2 Cents…

Got takeout and will never be back. The meat was uncooked. It was completely pink inside. Two little girls(I’m guessing they’re 10 years old) took the order and gave us our food, and they were extremely rude. While we were waiting for our food to be done, they were fighting with each other — yelling and screaming and being quite physical, which was rather awkward. I felt completely sick after eating the food. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. It was terrible — poor service, disgusting food.

I’ve always loved this place. Until today. :( There was hair in my food. And it wasn’t mine.

I live in the area so I visit this place pretty frequently, and while their HUGE menu restricts me from having tried everything they offer, I’ve had enough to have a good idea of the place. Let me start off by saying that they have their appetizers DOWN. Their potstickers are amongst the best I’ve ever had(of all varieties), and the best Chinese potstickers hands down. Their rolls(egg, spring, shrimp) are all delicious, but the eggroll is the best in my opinion. I haven’t had their wings, but my boyfriend assures me they are delicious. Their spicy wontons are amazing, but they are also loaded down with large quantities oils and fats so beware. The Chinese donuts they sell get their own paragraph. I ordered them once late at night when I was craving something sweet. Oh boy. They were sooo goood. Obviously made fresh, they were pillowy and sweet and just slightly savory and they melted in your mouth. My boyfriend likened them to beignets he got in New Orleans. I don’t know if he was full of it or not, but they were definitely the best donuts I’ve ever had. Their entrees though are hit or miss. You could have an amazing meal one time, and something so mediocre you take a few bites and forget about it. Their sesame chicken is definitely better cold than hot. I have nothing bad to say about their noodle dishes. I’ve had a few bland meals that I don’t even remember the names of. Their hot pepper chicken, however, is delicious and I will DEFINITELY be back for more of that. Bad or good, the portion sizes on their entrees are enormous. I just finished off my last serving of the hot pepper chicken — with the size of fried rice they gave me, I had three HUGE meals. Could have been four if I wasn’t such a fatty and the meal wasn’t so good. I also love their soups. This is a VERY personal opinion, as I am sure most people won’t share this love. Vegetable soup, big size — $ 3. You get two pints of soup, two things of fried crisp wonton strips. The broth was light and slightly salty. It was filled with a good mix of just barely cooked veggies. Crispy and juicy. It was perfect. So come in, order any app(except the chicken nuggets and fries they keep for kids), be careful about your entrée and enjoy!

The cute kids at the counter don’t make up for the quality of food. Sorry. The food was awful and the soup was not worth waiting on!!!

I went I got my usual safe dish for a first time visit General Tso and it was good, not spicy, but the actual sauce is spot on otherwise.

Yes, the lighting is gross & florescent and yes, adorable children work the counter and you feel a little child-labor-law creepy. BUT they have really boss tofu and a lot of it. I can’t speak for the meat dishes but the«family style bean curd» is where it’s at. It’s a little spicy so I have them add more heat. I usually do a walk-in order and go over to AWOL for a quick drink while they’re making it. It’s always ready by the time I get back. Leave a tip on your way out, why don’t ya?

Despite all of the mediocre reviews on here, I was craving chinese food so bad for lunch the other day, I trekked on over here for take out. The woman working the register was friendly. There were a lot of people running in for lunch, so there was a bit of a wait. All the previous reviews are dead on in terms of the interior… not much to look at. Not at all. There aren’t really that many tables either — only a handful lining the walls. I ordered chicken and string beans. The servings were plentiful and it looked amazing once I sat down to eat. However… the food was really just ok at best. I was extremely underwhelmed with the flavor of the meal as a whole. Good: I felt full after eating Bad: The food was pretty bland

I don’t know how I haven’t written a review of this place yet! I lived in the area for a while and would probably eat here 2 or 3 times a month. Was it the best Chinese food in town? No, but it was good food and only 4 blocks away. I have tried a lot of different things from this place and can honestly say that all of them come in just a shade above average on quality. None of it is the be-all end-all of Chinese fare but it is good, solid food at a reasonable to slightly too much price. My personal favorite was always the General Tso’s Chicken, which I know is cliché, but I liked it. Stay away from the Shrimp dishes, too much breading on them. But pretty much everything else is A-OK. As to the MSG issue, I am not saying that they do or do not use MSG, and I am not saying that every other place in town does or doesn’t use MSG, but I am saying that I don’t really care. Most studies have shown that MSG in normal amounts isn’t dangerous or unhealthy and I don’t really believe most places when they say that they are MSG free. For what it is worth, this place does advertise as being MSG free.

Cheap + Close by + good taste = Solid Win My only issue I have had with this place is my food was cold once, other than that everything has been perfect!

I’ve been here a couple times as I have a couple friends that live in OTE area. Lots of food for the money and it’s okay. We went tonight for take out and there was a little 6-year old boy(I asked how old he was) at the register taking the orders. He did a great job and got everything right, which is hard to say for most restaurants that have adults working them… I had the kung pao chicken and a vegetable egg roll. Both were good, but I wouldn’t say they were outstanding. The chicken was cut very small and it had a lot of small pieces of celery and carrots in it as well. Like I said above, it was a huge portion that will last at least 3 meals for me… My friend is moving, so it is unlikely I will ever go back.

Not so good. The place is an Old Kentucky Fried Chicken, stripped down to a minimum of a back room kitchen, the check out counter, and a few tables. Some lights in the ceiling were not working, and that may not have been a bad thing as to keep what looked like a fairly dirty floor in the dark. But Chinese Restaurants are not about décor, but about good tasty filling dinners at cheap prices. Well, they got the cheap prices, but the food was kinda bland. Had the Hot and Sour soup, which was somewhat«gummy», and very sparse on any«fixing» of solid food(meat or otherwise). My friend had the Won Ton Soup, and said it was OK. Spring rolls were big and well fried, but again — bland. Finally, had their«specialty» fried rice, which was to include Shrimp, Chicken, and Beef. Had some shrimp, a few beef, and little of anything else but bland rice. Not sure if it had been friend or not, but the Soy Sauce did give it something to taste. In summary — it was filling and cheap, but not so good. Keep looking for other places… You can do a lot better.

Not bad but considering how dirty and scary the place looked I wanted it to be so delicious I couldnt not go back. Not the case. Convenience is the only reason I would stop in again.

Dragon One is good, cheap and authentic if you order from the right part of the menu. I was very sad, and a little disturbed, when Moon Star on High Street near City Center suddenly and mysteriously closed. My source of good, cheap Chinese food(that could be delivered even!) was gone, and there was a vacuum in my life. Then Dragon One opened up around the corner from me and all was well again. I highly recommend the spicy wontons, any of the sha cha dishes(a smoky, salty and savory type of Chinese barbecue sauce), the flat beef noodles as well as the shredded pork with jalapenos. They are all very classic and authentic dishes. I agree with everyone else. Eating in there is not fun. The floors are uneven, left pulled up in some places, the walls are peeling and they have the most unflattering fluorescent lights in the history of fluorescent lights. Just get it to go.

As I walked into Dragon One I was not impressed. Perhaps it was the suspiciously vacuous dining room, which was ringed with a few tables and chairs but otherwise empty space. Perhaps it was the homeless man fitfully sleeping at one table, his cardboard sign the only pillow he knew, unregarded by the staff(god bless them, for their part). Perhaps it was even the very, very shoddy paint job of red and green stripes at the top and bottom of the walls. All these things may have dissuaded me if I wasn’t here on a mission. That mission: to eat at Dragon One. The cashier who took our order was efficient and friendly enough, and we got to witness her amusing interaction with a customer who came in while we waited and asked if the store sells rice. Yep. \ Our food seemed to take a little longer than the usual Chinese carry out joint, but when we received the food, stapled snugly into paper bags, it began to dawn on me why the wait was extended. Our packages of food were damn heavy, as far as food goes. We were excited– especially when the car started to fill with the smell of what had to be very outstanding carryout. And, yes, it was just that. The portions are beyond generous. My orange beef included a whole tray of meat, sauce and veggies– heavy on the meat!- with three huge, juicy broccoli florets stuffed between the beef and the side of the tray. A separate box of fried rice was included. It was the low point of the experience– decent rice, but lacking in flavor. It was alright mixed with the sauce of my orange beef, however. The orange beef was definitely the best I’ve had at a quick, to-go Chinese place. It would have seemed at home at a sit-down restaurant. The beef was delicious, sweet with the bitter bite of orange peel used in a smart, not overpowering proportion. I don’t think I made it halfway through before I was full. It’s still in the fridge as I type this, and I eagerly await a late-night munchie attack that will demand a healthy dose of reheated Chinese food. I also got the spring roll, which was almost egg roll sized. It was also delicious, and I didn’t even have to dunk it in any sauce. That’s ace in my book! This place is a real diamond in the rough. I will return. Their dinner prices might seem high but the amount of food you get really is staggering. Wonderful!
