A nice small M&P grocery that also sells sandwiches. It has been here on Hard and Smokie Row for as long as I can remember; a throwback shop, like ones in the small towns I grew up around, established here when Hard was a rural trail, before Columbus and Delaware County sprawled around it. Very clean and organized, it has stubby aisles stocked of food staples and sundries. They may only have one flavor and perhaps one item on the shelves, but it is conditioned well and orderly. Everything I checked was in-dated, so there is little threat of buying something outside the used by stamp or short dated, which can be a prob for small biz in food selling. They have a sizable cooler for beer, a place for local young pros and college kids that populate the corridor to check out. It is priced higher than the corporate supermarket, about in the range of UDF or Speedway. I was impressed by the pumpkin and squash displayed at the front. The items here were in great shape, fresh, and beautiful. A better spot to shop for missed items than other corp quicky marts.

When I was 11 years old Chuck Eckle open this place I’m 42 now. Chuck was way ahead of his time with his Fruit and Veggie display in front of the store. The Local Farm to plate is big and Ma and Pop interaction is what this country lacks. I remember Chuck as always smiling and always greeting his customers by name and always knowing their needs. I was a rough kid and known in my area for being this way, but Chuck treated us kids like little adults and we respected him very much. Every once in a while we’d have to show him how to wrestle properly. Hands down a legacy Market! Cheers to you and your family Chuck! Roddy

This is a great neighborhood market. To be as small as it is, it’s got a good selection of groceries and household items. The staff is always very friendly. I like that they offer fresh produce as well. I try to go here when possible, rather than the CVS across the street. They have a deli counter as well, although I’ve never tried it. I especially like the ambiance – I feel like I’m stepping back in time when I go in there. They have a huge beer and wine selection, although my co-worker tells me their prices are on the high side. They have a $ 5 minimum to use your credit card, FYI.

I’m not much of one for convenience stores, but Eckel’s is different. I like the family owned feel and appreciate that they have some fresh produce year round and will make sandwiches to order.
