Flip Side Burgers and Tacos

Flip Side is most definitely a college joint, despite its lack of alcohol (boo, hiss). But like any college kid, when you’re hungry, you’re hungry. The inside is on the small side, so don’t plan on bringing too big of a crowd here. It’s one long room with booths lining the sides. The menu had a lot of selection. The Great Pretender, a veggie burger made with portobello, sounded delicious so of course, I ordered it. «You know it’s without meat, right?» asked the waitress with a sigh when I ordered this dish. Oy. i tried not to be annoyed, given she must’ve been asking from experience, but oy, talk about condescending.
And in the end, the burger was only ok. The fries I had were excellent, and the first few bites of the burger good, but eventually turned to mush from all the balsamic and cheese. I found myself envious of the tacos at the neighboring table. The food was decent, but I could’ve done better than that burger and bizarro questions from the waitress. If I’m ever here again, I know to try the tacos next time!

Great Customer service, nice and cool people. The burgers and fries are so delicious as well! I went with a group of people from California as well and they all loved it as well! The food is unique. I suggest the Roadie and the Elvis burger

Their service is TERRIBLE. Embarrassing in fact. My husband and I were sat at the very front by the windows by the A/​C. It reeked of mold so bad that we decided to get up and wait for a table. After being seated it took a good 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge our existence. We sat with our drinks another 15 minutes waiting to order. No one came back. We ended up just walking out. My husband and I have both been waiters in the past and the manager here needs to do some serious training with his waiters.

Visited while working in Phenix city. The lobster tacos are great. My only recommendation was a little more sauce and cut the lobster into smaller pieces to make it easier to eat. Super fresh. Great taste combo. The salsa was really delicious. Great tomato flavor and seasoned just right. Will totally go back. Oh and great service. The waitress made recommendations and the cook came out to ask how my food was. Both big pluses to me!

I’ve eaten a lot of great burgers in my life, and this easily ranks in the top category. I had the Hank Jr burger, and it was cooked perfectly. Juicy meat, with just enough of a runny egg and crispy bacon to complement each other.
My wife had the fish tacos, which she said were good. She did love the sweet potato waffle fries. They’re hard to resist.
I easily recommend this as a great option for a low-​key, inexpensive dinner for some really good, unpretentious food. Give it a try!

Service was less than the best, and I would add everyday can’t be perfect, but I have yet to get good service from the wait staff yet. However the tacos are banging! I’ve lived in Orlando and Atlanta and have eaten award winning tacos and these were right up there. I think I’m going to try dinner one night. Maybe if I take my family in during non peak hours we’ll get some better service and the atmosphere will be more relaxed. The food will be worth it either way I’m sure.

Friendly staff just not a very welcoming feeling. Enjoyed the extra theme added to the food choice names. Food was good but heavy feeling. Kind of plain. Hamburger meat didn’t look the greatest but tasted good with the added toppings. Hotdog was greasy but also good.

If you’re in the mood for a good juicy burger– def stop by! Great burgers & sides for less than $ 8.

It has a 50’s diner feel and the menu names are a little weird but the food is good. This place was packed for lunch, and people waiting to get inside. Los Lobos burger was good, have also tried the tacos which were good. The nachos looked really good. Prices were not bad overall, considering it is downtown.
The place was packed but service was not too bad. Overall, a good dining experience and I would go there if I am in the neighborhood.

Yum! Had tacos here on a Tuesday and they were delicious! Cute little spot and friendly staff.
Second time around NOT so good! There were only four tables and one server and she was slower than molasses! Waited 10 min and still hadn’t greeted us, we walked out. Customer service is everything!

I’d like to give it more then a 3 but not a 4. Lol… more like a 3.85
First off this place is tiny which wasn’t issue for me and the décor was unexpected but cool. Their Nachos I had as an appetizer were delicious and huge! Could be the meal itself. I had the Fish tacos which I can’t remember the actual name but they were just OK. Tortilla of course are not home made and they were a bit cold. My son did have the kids cheese burger and an hour later had the runs
Maybe it just didn’t set well with him so not going to jump the gun and blame it totally on the food. Service was OK. Our waiter was a young very timid guy but I know a lot of young guys and gals like that so no biggy either. Price for nachos is great! For tacos and quality a little high but not unheard of. I’d probably go back to give it another shot some day but most definitely not a place where I thought OMG I can’t wait to come back. It was very average and I expected more with the previous reviews. Oh Well!

Good place for lunch burgers are good. It’s small not real b8g but they do have tables outside for them hot GA days.

The beef tacos here will get you craving immediately after the first bite. The cravings will remain until you’re full. But. They come back. And they come back hard.
This place is so addicting, that DEA should classify their tacos among the schedule 1 drugs.

Delicious food, wonderful service, and lots of variety and uniqueness mixed in with the traditional. On top of that, the atmosphere is just the right degree of cool! My ONLY complaint is that it’s not large enough to seat big groups together.

Small little place that packs a fantastic flavor punch! Went on Saturday afternoon but the wait wasn’t long. Staff was really friendly and service was great. We ordered the Heavy Metal Nachos and they were to die for! I’ll warn you they were very greasy, however it in no way was a negative for us. My mom ordered a hot dog while my hubby and I ordered burgers; all were very yummy! Prices were reasonable. Bring your appetite!!!

My husband got the showstopper burger and I got the los lobos tacos — we both got the sweet potato fries because, sweet jesus.
Anyway, we weren’t really expecting a whole lot because the restaurant is super casual, but when our food came out we had that look like «this is going to be legendary». My tacos were simple, but had the perfect balance of flavors and were super juicy. My husband stated that his burger was in his top 5 of amazing burgers and I agreed after trying it. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp, and the service was great! Our water glasses never went empty.
Will definitely be back here to quench my burger/​taco cravings!

Excellent gem in downtown! The fish tacos are excellent. I like that there is a nice balance of «tacos» and «burgers». Perfect for a lunch or dinner when you are particularly indecisive (like me!). I have heard the Elvis burger is delicious! Its refreshing to see a place that thinks outside the box!
The staff are extremely accommodating, professional, and speedy especially for take-​out orders.
The only downside: the restaurant is quite small and fills QUICKLY! Lunchtime can be a challenge. Maybe an expansion soon?

First of all I wanted to give this 5 stars. I didn’t because of the following:
This place is small. This place is almost not noticeable. This place merges take-​out with dine in (will explain in a bit).
As you can tell by my previous statement, I didn’t take away a star for quality or customer service or anything important. This place is amazeballs. It NEEDS more room but on the same token, a small place makes it more desirable.
I passed by this place several times downtown and didn’t notice it at all. I wish something POPPED out at me more because I coulda used a good place like this. But then again, the hole in the wall places are always the best.
ONLY flaw I could see was the take out line runs through the center of the dining area. So it CAN get crowded. But that’s due to the place being small and there isn’t a way to fix that other than to expand or create a separate «walk through» line outside that’s connected to the kitchen.
The food: 0 issues. Because it was my first, I like to try as much as I can. This place is a burger/​Mexican place and wow does it work well. I had the hank Williams jr. Burger, the beef and queso dip, and guac and chips. Here’s why I went fat boy mode. I wanted to try a signature burger and taco. So, instead of both, I gauged the taco seasoning off the queso dip and had a burger. The queso dip was awesome and I could tell that a taco there would ROCK!
The burger was sooooo yummy. They crumbled bacon on it and melted the cheese OVeR the bacon to keep it there. How genius. The egg on it was the topper.
Here is the koolest part. The cups we got with our drinks. They were foam cups. Before we left. They refilled it, gave us lids and we walked out with them. That is so awesome. I WILL be returning and I highly recommend this place.

Great fish or shrimp tacos. Very small dining area so avoid peak dinner or lunch to avoid a wait.

We had Valentine’s Day lunch here because of the cool sign, but the food was really good.
I had fried lobster tacos with sweet potato waffle fries. I also ordered a side of habanero raspberry ketchup for dipping the fries. The Tacos were very fresh and topped with cabbage and a light honey mustard. Very tasty! The only minor complaint I had was that the breading on the lobster was a bit hasn’t and slightly greasy. The waffle fries and spicy ketchup were great.
My wife had grilled shrimp Tacos with a side of pineapple kim chi. Her tacos were light and flavorful, slightly spicy and topped with soy and ginger slaw. She wasn’t a fan of the kim chi, but I liked it.
I would frequent this establishment on a regular basis if we were local. Since my mom lives close by, we’ll use that as an excuse to come again!
