In the last two-decades I’ve spent so many days walking, drinking, eating, plotting plans to take over the world, and exploring in the German Village that there is no way in tarnation that a park is there that I have never visited. No way! Right? Wrong! I never knew this small square of pleasuring landscaping was here. And you know what? It is pound for pound the most striking inner-city park in Columbus I have seen yet. It is only a quarter-block in size. Walking passed you’d think it was just another eye catching backyards of the Village. But it is a city park. An art park meant for resting and enjoying its lushes crafty composition. Surrounded by a black iron fence, the inside has flowing ferns, a knee-high blue fountain, red brick flooring, trellis patio with tables, black resting benches, Japanese trees, topiaries, hanging baskets off black, Victorian street lights, green grass and yellow marigolds. A impressive display of horticulture and landscaping done by volunteers are to credit. There is even a water fountain for thirsty park goers. Dogs are welcomed here as I seen neighborhood pups led by masters on my visits. I think this place may be cool at night too, it has a romantic allure, a place for memories, proposals, or film making. Who knows why I never found it before, but since I have, it will be a prime stop when I am in the neighborhood.

This is the definition of an urban park. Small, but with well-defined activity areas. Meticulously maintained. Pet friendly, with a small water fountain for pups and a nice lawn for romps. The concert series here in the summer is fantastic. Pack a picnic and a glass of wine and settle in for a peaceful Sunday night.

Beautiful park to gather with neighbors and walk your dog. They have different events in the year like lighting of the tree in Christmas and concerts in the summer

What a cool discovery I found this weekend in German Village! At .2 acres, yes, point two acres, it’s easy for anyone to stroll the whole park within about 22 seconds, but take your time and make it last. It’s a great little place to stop, sit and enjoy some peace and quiet in a small corner of German Village. It’s especially nice when you are trying to stumble down the road after an evening at the Beck Tavern. And you know what else I think? This is what I would want my back yard to look like if I had a back yard and I could afford to have someone else do all the work.

When I first noticed Frank Fetch Park, I thought it was the most awesome enclosed back yard/patio in Columbus. I walked around to the other side to get a better look and saw the park sign. It’s very small, literally the size of a back yard. But it’s enclosed with a brick wall, and has the best landscaping of any park in the area. It looks more like a botany professor’s back patio than a public space. There are benches scattered around the brick ground, a couple picnic tables under the shade. Definitely a closely held German Village secret.
