Sadly brick and mortar video game stores are going quickly extinct. Most people, such as myself, are content to order video games and accessories over the internet at a reduced rate. There are occasions however when one wants to simply go to the store and buy something right then. Gamestops are good for what they do but one really needs to get to know the help and the management to see the full benefit of frequenting one. Their return policy is superior to Walmart and that is one big reason I will always buy games and accessories at Gamestop over Walmart. You can also get pre-order bonuses at Gamestop which is another reason to frequent them over other brick and mortar stores. With the release of the upcoming PS4 and Xbox 720 there is a lot of talk of hardware which will tie new titles to the system and thus, kill the second hand videogame market. If this truly comes to pass it will most likely eliminate Gamestop and other specialty video game stores. I truly hope they will be able to stay alive as it’s always fun to take a trip there. With that being said 90% of my videogame purchases are still going to be done on Amazon. But if you do want to buy something locally and not wait for mail order, Gamestop is a good choice.
