Gearhart’s Hardware is one of the few remaining family-​owned and operated shops on the Hilltop. Considering their competition, they’ve managed to stay afloat for so many years due to the fact that you can’t beat the personality and service of the place. While they may not always have what I need at that moment, they’re always willing to order it. The staff is kind and helpful, and everyone how walks in the door feels like a part of the neighborhood.
I’m grateful to have Gearhart’s in my community, and would recommend them to anyone.

I would give Gearhart’s a five star review if you never had to talk to the elderly lady that sometimes works the cashier desk. She is unpleasant and unhelpful. I don’t think I have ever seen her smile or heard her say thank you to me when I shop there. The other employees can be very helpful and nice and it’s a good place to go if you need a last-​minute item when you’re trying to fix something around the house. They are a little lacking in the way of selection but they usually have what you need to get the job done.

Again, I love my neighborhood stores and the service they provide. Went in looking for advice on how to replace or order a new storm window for my hallway window. While they cannot handle this, they gave me the name of a place and how much it should run me. I love good service.

This place is ok if you need that last minute VERY common part or piece of hardware, but other than that they probably don’t stock it. I try to buy local to support the Hilltop, but I can’t see going back here after the last time I was there.

I like going to Gearhart’s. They helped me find light bulbs for my daughter’s hypnotic spinning dolphin night light. They made 2 keys for me so I don’t get locked out of my house. I had a nice conversation with the store clerk about grass. Just the regular kind that grows on the ground and that dogs poo on. Not the smelly kind that Snoopy the dogg likes.

Don’t you just love walking into a store where three employees just stare at you and then talk amongst themselves? Yea, and that isn’t the first time that has happened to me here. If you don’t like helping people, don’t work in retail.
