Mike G. and I stumbled on this cool little place during a meandering walk around the Short North. Neither of us gets down there often so we’re not familiar with all the newer places. This isn’t that new anymore, apparently, but it’s representative of the kind of interesting places you don’t see in malls, etc. Everything looks to be local, and recycled in a sense– silverware as planting markers, bike inner tubes as wallets, odds and ends as jewelry. I particularly liked the keychains with area maps on them, and the license plate décor– letters cut out and rearranged into«Ohio,» etc. I’ll bring Sweetie down here next time we head back this way.

This place really is top-notch when it comes to original artisan jewelry, fashion and home décor/goods. I was thrilled to find the store and even more excited after speaking with the owner who explained the goal of the shop(local, recycled, re-purposed) and encouraged me to shop online(bonus!!!) from California! I purchased a super cool ring fashioned out of sterling cutlery and could not be happier!!! I heart Glean :)

If you want to feel good about the gift you are giving or what you’re buying for yourself this is the place to shop. All the items(and most of the displayed) are re-purposed and eco friendly. My favorite item is the Vetiver soap! I currently can not live without it.

I am the ultimate procrastinator so that means constant last minute shopping! Glean has never once let me down when it comes to unique, hand made gifts at a really affordable price. The lovely owner of the store told me all of her inventory is local(she even makes the soaps, candles and some jewelry herself) and most of the artists sell exclusively in her store which made feel confident in knowing the recipient would have a one of a kind gift. Her inventory is constantly rotating and new, love this new addition to the short north area.

This is one of those seemingly ever rotating businesses in the basement of the Greystone. During the last SBB sale, I saw that they were offering discount gift certificates, and decided to check it out. They’ve got the typical mix of upcycled and repurposed crafts — candles, soaps, hair accessories, jewelry, and so on. I’ve been in two or three times now, and still haven’t really seen anything that appeals to me(probably my minimalist streak showing). They do have a nice selection of bow ties and handmade soaps in a variety of scents.
