What a rip off this place is. I see this place all the time and have given it several chances. This is the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I ordered samosas with vegetable biryani. The samosas were bland and the filling tasted like unseasoned mashed potatoes with a few peas. The vegetable biryani was unflavorful and watery. It is also ridiculously overpriced. This crappy meal cost $ 18. You are better off at any of the other many Indian restaurants.

Do yourselves a favor and listen to your fellow Unilocalers. I came home one day to an Indian Kitchen menu taped to my front door. I thought to myself«this looks tasty» but then I saw their prices. I realise Indian cuisine is a bit pricey so I did not let it scare me away. Now I wish that I did. I was thoroughly unimpressed to say the least. I ordered the lamb curry with some Naan and yogurt sauce. The lamb curry was bland, watery, and had a funky taste to it. The Naan was soggy and bland as well. The skimpy portion of soggy rice wasnt very impressive either. For 17 dollars I could have had a fucking fast food feast and been a hell of a lot more satisfied. I see why they are taping menus to front doors now.

The naan was raw and a large portion of my meal was missing when I ordered delivery.

You’d be better off eating the tasty bite packaged foods than this place. Bland watery and overpriced. It just isn’t any good. Go to AAB in Grandview. Too bad Taj is gone.

The service can be characterized best as apathetic. The servers are both intolerant and impatient. The food is bland and lacks all the flavors that Indian food is associated with. I would recommend that you look for a better place to spend your hard earned money. Columbus has much better Indian restaurants.

The worst Indian food I’ve had in Columbus! Chicken Tikka Masala tasted like old chicken and bland sauce. Sagg Paneer was bland like they used cornstarch to make the cream. The rice tasted bland as if it had been sitting in the refrigerator for a few days. Indian food is not supposed to be bland! Completely unimpressed and will stick to Indian Oven and Amul India.

Indian Kitchen makes some of the best samosas I have ever had, making this its only saving grace from 1 or 2 stars –I would put my rating at 2.5 if I could. The samosa batter was solid and buttery with just the right amount of sweetness. The veggies inside were pretty good, but they also were an indiscriminate mash. I like it when I can taste individual peas popping in my samosa, but this just seems like a generic albeit tasty paste. The sauce for my Paneer Kadai, likewise, was seriously lacking in flavor. I had to douse it in salt but even then it was pretty tasteless. The paneer’s consistency was off as well. It had not been pressed enough, resulting in a crumbly cottage cheese rather than the familiar solid, chewy paneer that should be strong enough to stand in for meat. Veggies were nothing special, easily found in the Giant Eagle produce section. But for all my complaining all these mediocre ingredients coalesced into an average entrée. I would not recommend it but you aren’t making a mistake here either. At $ 13 for a simple vegetarian dish, I felt pretty ripped off. Curry and Hurry next door will make the same thing for a fraction of the price, and it’s only slightly shittier. The choice of ingredients in a Paneer Kadai, by the way, makes this dish the perfect compromise for when you can’t make up your mind between Indian and Mexican food. Rice was awful. Again, no spices. Way too much water was used to make this rice. Lastly there was the naan, which was pretty disappointing. It was floppy and soggy, and had no flavor of its own. It had clearly been microwaved without any real effort to improve it with butter or spices, which is not the quality I expect when I am paying upwards of 2 dollars for a piece of fucking bread. I might as well have substituted an Azteca tortilla. This is not excusable for a restaurant pushing the most pungent, flavorful cuisine in the world. Spices are not expensive. Show some more Indian flair in your cooking!

How does one not like this place? I have been going to «The Kitch» as it is called in my circle for probably close to 10 years now. Cozy, family run, and great food. I really don’t understand the negative reviews. My top picks on the menu are the lamb saag and the goat curry. Everything else is pretty damn good though. Though perhaps I am biased. This is the sort of place where I walk in and Kumar(the owner) sees me and already knows what I am going to order. Or maybe he’ll tell me how my sister was in a few days ago with my mom and tells me about her new boyfriend before I hear it from her myself. I am not alone. Most folks in my circle of friends have given into The Kitch over the years and have similar experiences. Great food, super nice folks who value you for the long term, and frankly, a funky little place.

I’ve ordered carryout or delivery from Indian Kitchen a few times, and I keep returning because(a) they deliver, and(b) they have great carryout specials. If there is a food item that keeps bringing me back, it’s the samosas. They are delicious and unlike most other samosas. The dough is more like a pie crust than the more common flaky filo-like dough, and the mixture inside is more like mashed potatoes with the occasional pea than diced vegetables. The vegetarian entrees(palak paneer, chana masala) I’ve gotten are good. My favorite Indian dish is palak paneer, which is pretty good here(though not as good as at Aab India or at Banana Leaf). There’s a fair amount of paneer, which I appreciate because it’s expensive and likely to be skimpy(looking at you, Curry and Hurry!). It adds green bell pepper, which is an addition I’ve never had before in palak paneer. The sides are okay. The rice is fine, but the naan leaves something to be desired. It’s very heavy and somewhat oily. I find the spice to be at a great level. I usually order at «medium» to be safe and find that it has a great kick to it. If you don’t love spicy food, order«mild.» All in all, Indian Kitchen is pretty good. It’s more expensive than the other places in town, but I like that they deliver(free!), and I love their specials.(The«buy one, get one free» Wednesday through Friday deal makes it much easier to pay something like thirteen bucks for an entrée.)

This is definitely my favorite Indian Restaurant in town. The little mom-and-pop places are the ones where you find the best food! They have a nice selection of vegetarian dishes as well as something for the carnivore out there. They even have goat and lamb dishes, two meats you do not often see in restaurants. If you like spicy, this place is for you as well. My only complaint would be regarding the inconsistency in spicy levels. A group of us just got a bunch of to go items and the consensus between them was the meat dishes could have been spicier(were medium). However, one of the medium level vegetarian dishes was really spicy. I don’t care for a lot of spicyness so I just get my veggie dishes mild and that is plenty spicy for me. If you are looking for a nice sit-down restaurant, this isn’t your place. There is seating, but it’s not the most inviting or exotic. If you’re looking for a fancy environment, go across the street to TajMahal and spend an extra ten to twenty bucks for your meal. Their buy-one-get-one that Indian Kitchen offers on Wed-Friday is a great deal and one I like to take advantage of. You should too!

I went there today and got some Chicken Tikka Masala to go. I can safely say that I know good Indian food and this is not. It was the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. The masala was not creamy whatsoever. It was like soup. In addition to that, the chicken didn’t even taste like chicken. To top that, the rice was terrible. I mean, how can you screw up basmati rice?! If this was not enough, hear this: $ 13.95 for the worst chicken tikka masala I have ever had. If you read other reviews, you will see that they run buy one get one free carryout specials. I was craving Indian food today, so I could not wait for the days they run specials. You know what, I am extremely happy that I did not get the buy one get one free deal, since I would have to throw the second one out anyways. Overall, I see no reason to visit this place. Pay 5% more and go to the other Indian restaurant right across the street. P.s: The naan was not bad, but average. So if a friend of yours make you go there, just order some naan. At least you will not regret your decision.

I’m a boring Midwestern American who doesn’t eat a lot of Indian food. However, when I do, it’s almost always an order of Chicken Tikka Masala(told you, boring). However, I know when I’m getting the good stuff. What I found at Indian Kitchen was sub-par in terms of CTM. For $ 13.95 I got a moderately sized entrée with a small amount of rice. Moreover, I’m used to my CTM being somewhat cream based with the ability to taste the tomato flavor. This was not the case at Indian Kitchen. Basically, I got something akin to CTM soup. It wasn’t even flavorful soup. Very bland. As they couldn’t master the only dish I like, I probably won’t ever be going back. However, if you go I recommend going on Wed-Friday I think. On those days they have Buy-One-Get-One-Free offers on entrees. For me though, doubling up on the mediocre food at the same cost wouldn’t make a difference. I’ll keep shopping around for decent Indian food in Columbus.

Let me preface this by saying that my husband is not that wild about Indian food, but even he was saying«WTF? Why isn’t there anybody here?» after we finished our meal. I love Indian food. I don’t know how authentic or inauthentic this place is. Do not care. I have never been to India and am certainly not going to whine about whether it’s Angloized or not(unlike my whining about bad Mexican food, since I have been to Mexico several times). I thought the food was good. Their garlic naan is delicious; I had the chicken tikka masala and hubs had the chicken vindaloo. Both were tasty and pretty decently spicy at «medium” – I don’t think I would order the«spicy» and I like spicy food.(I’m just getting over a sinus infection, though, so my spicy receptors may not be totally normal yet.) Our server was nice and attentive and refilled our water constantly, but also unobtrusively. We had a window seat and we were mind-boggled wondering why Taj Mahal(which we also like) was so busy and Indian Kitchen was so dead. Usually, it’s the food when that happens – but the food was GOOD. I also happen to like Indian Kitchen’s chicken tikka masala better than Taj Mahal’s. Indian Kitchen’s décor is nothing to write home about, but I’ve definitely seen worse. Everything is clean, from the tables to the dinnerware and the napkins, it’s just a little drab. Indian Kitchen has some crazy hours – they are open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, though, and by the looks of it, they’re rarely busy. If you want a quiet evening out on an otherwise busy night, brave the long flight of stairs and get yourself some Indian grub.

We’ve been to Indian Kitchen twice as my friend used to live just up the street. The first time wasn’t bad, but the food was average. The second time we went wasn’t any better. We haven’t been back and will never go back. There are so many Indian restaurants in Columbus that are so much better than this one! The atmosphere was cozy, the service poor, and you have to walk up stairs to get to it so it’s not accessible to everyone!

Tried the lunch buffet last week: weak. Very few choices and definitely sub-par saag paneer. This buffet wasn’t anywhere near as good as Taj’s — so I recommend Indian Kitchen(or Taj!) for dinner but Taj for buffet, for sure.

I’ve always avoided the small, dark North Campus Indian Restaurant at the top of a flight of dark, creaky stairs. And what a mistake that was! While I cannot speak for the ambiance of Indian Kitchen, their food is fantastic. They offer delivery via Café Courier, which arrives promptly, with polite service, and still very hot– no reheat necessary. I ordered the mutter paneer which came with a side of well-seasoned, fluffy long grain rice and some garlic naan. The mutter paneer was rich, creamy(but not curdled or burnt), and both spicy and sweet. The peas were delicious and soft and the dish also had nice, large chunks of mild, homemade cheese in it. The naan was crispier on the outside and soft within– it didn’t get soggy on its travels to my apartment and reheated well. It was covered in tons of sweet, roasted garlic. Again, delivery service was incredibly fast and polite, my order arrived perfectly, and tasted wonderful. My only complaints: list the Café Courier number on your website and send over a larger order of naan next time! I had to resort to toasted whole wheat pitas for my leftovers.

Best Indian Food I’ve had in Columbus! Highly recommend the Palak Paneer and the Chicken Vindaloo, as well as the Thali’s which come with chai and dessert! Unlike some other Indian restaurants in town, they manage to get everything spicy enough without obscuring the complex flavors of the dishes. Atmosphere isn’t optimal(being a bit small and dark) but I’d rather have awesome food over posh décor any day.

Went here for dinner last night since after watching episode after episode of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, I was craving Indian. After 5 years of school in Cincinnati with 5+ Indian restaurants in the general area of campus, I have been spoiled. I long for the days when I could walk down the street to one of 3 Indian restaurants around the corner. But, here we are in the present. The atmosphere of the restaurant is small and quiet, which I liked. We were seated in the front and it was very cozy, and a lovely scenic view of High Street(ha ha ha.) I like the pappadum free appetizer, I could eat those things for days. Nicely spiced and definitely whet my appetite for whatever else I was going to eat. I had the Palak Paneer and my boyfriend had the Chicken Jalfraize. Our main complaint to each other, which was actually in my case probably my fault, is that we wished our entrees were spicier. I ordered mild, though, so I blame myself! Overall though the food was pretty good, and I didn’t feel disappointed. One thing is that a lot of the Indian restaurants seem more expensive to me than they did in Cincinnati, but I might just be out of the loop. $ 12 for Palak Paneer seems a little steep to me, though. I’ll go back, but I’ll probably try some other local Indian spots as well.

Indian Kitchen has been around for awhile, so they must be doing something right. It is very small but every visit the owner is our server, and the chef. Everything is cooked to order and I’ve never had anything here that was sub-par. They’ve tried to liven up the atmosphere with some indian music and brightly colored table clothes and tapestries on the wall, which I admit does seem to work. They deliver for free in the evenings and have an online menu if you aren’t sure if they’ll have something you like. Even though this is the kind of place you might want to avoid because of it’s outside appearance, the food is always good and the service friendly. A definite must if you are near campus and love«dive» restaurants.

Kind of a hole in the wall little place, but their lunch buffet is killer, and dinner entrees are nicely spicy. The menu includes some rather unusual offerings, including goat curry, which a dinner companion of mine ordered once. The meat was still on the bones, and I found it to be very disturbing! That aside, I like the Indian kitchen. It’s small and can be crowded at lunch with OSU students and staff taking advantage of the lunch buffet, which includes a good selection of both meat and vegetarian options. It’s been awhile since I’ve been here, as there are other Indian restaurants I like better, and I don’t live in the neighborhood anymore, but I would recommend this place.
