This location is now closed and has a sign referring you to their Hilliard Jed’s Fireball. It seems like 11th Ave/High Street location is a bad spot for restaurant business. I remember this was first a Pesto’s(Italian place with high prices), then it was a shish kebab express(Mediterranean place with high prices), and then it was a Jed’s Fireball Express(American place with high prices). All this within a short 2 – 3 year period. This just seems to be a bad location for a restaurant/food place.

It was a little pricey for how small the portions were, though generally speaking the food was somewhat tasty. There’s not much breading on the chicken, which I’m personally okay with but the people I was with complained about. In addition, the sauces didn’t really match their descriptions and weren’t very good. For being one of the few people in the restaurant, I was a little disappointed at how dirty most of the tables were(though the rest of the restaurant was well-maintained) and that the staff really wasn’t that friendly or helpful. I was really excited about this place but I probably won’t eat here again. They won’t be open for long.

It’s not that the food is bad, it’s that something is missing. Fireballs are like chicken nuggets basically, but with only a little bit of breading. You can get an Original or Specialty order. The original is just the chunks of chicken in sauce, and the for the specialty you choose from one of their options of fireballs with various toppings. It’s pretty boring if you dont want all sorts of weird stuff on your chicken, it doesn’t come with lettuce or fries or anything. Pretty much all of the specialty options seemed very weird, I don’t know why you would put some of the stuff they do over chicken nuggets(like chili, pulled pork, gyro meat, etc)? They sound good on their own, but why on top of chicken nuggets? It just doesn’t sound appealing. I ordered an original with the buffalo sauce and was quite underwhelmed. It was just a plate with nuggets in sauce. If it had been in a wrap with lettuce or something it would have been much better. $ 7 for a plate of pieces of chicken in sauce is a pretty lame dinner. This place needs to shape up or it will never last in its location on campus.

Chicken breast at Kroger, just several blocks from this restaurant, costs only ~$ 3 a pound. My advice after eating at «Jed’s Fireballs?» Do yourself a favor and just head there. What you lose in time/effort in making yourself this quick snack, you’ll save in cash and dashed hopes of a complete meal. Alternatively, just get something other than the«Original.» It’s anything but. The good: The food was quick, the service was nice, and the place was clean with ample seating. It’s also hard for me to say no to anything in buffalo sauce, so it pains me a little that something so convenient so terribly missed the mark. The bad: The owners here are playing fast and loose with the term«nuggets» and«balls.» These chunks of sliced up chicken breast are not your McNuggets of yesteryear. They’re not even the same breed of boneless wing I was dreaming of when a friend of mine told me he had Grand Opening coupons to head there. No. These are truly chunks. Does that sound appealing? It wasn’t when I got my plate of cut up chicken breast covered in sauce. The ugly: Did I mention that you pay $ 7 for someone behind the counter to slice up chicken and pour sauce on it? All things considered, the chicken tasted decent. I was so put off by the delivery of my «fireballs» that it really threw the whole«meal» off. I agree with Zach B. that the place really could improve if it did something more. Anything more. Put my chicken slices in a wrap? Salad? Or at minimum, prepare me for what’s coming my way because the description of the food on the fancy new menu sounds amazing, and what I was served was just underwhelming.
