Not a resident of Columbus, I have had the pleasure of going out there for three different trips thanks to my wonderful job. Each time I visit I look for a new place to try. Lindey’s happened to be one of the restaurants participating in restaurant week during my visit, unfortunately they were all booked and I wasn’t able to make it but the Sunday after rw I decided to try it anyways and couldn’t have been more happy. The staff was professional and courteous. They bring you a bread basket which also contains in house made crackers which were so good I could have ate those with a glass of wine and been in heaven. I did order their gnocchi with a short rib marmalade and blue cheese and we’ll all I can say is OMFG. It was amazing! Not only was the food and staff and ambiance wonderful but the neighborhood in which it is located was beautiful, surrounded by brick homes and building with brick paved streets it’s no wonder I fell in love with Columbus. As I mentioned before I always try to find a different restaurant each time I’m out there but I know for a fact that I will be visiting here again at the end of the month when I return.

Been there 4 or 5 times now and never had a bad experience, the appetizers are great, the main courses better and the desserts are delectable. Get the steak tartare, the grouper, then finish with the bananas foster.

My Husband and myself chose Lindey’s as a date night dinner before attending a show at the Palace Theater on a Saturday night. We had never been before but have been wanting to make a visit for quite awhile now. We made a reservation for 5:30 p.m. We showed up about 5 minutes early and were seated right away. We were taken to the room farthest back, which was filled with mostly couples and a few larger parties. It was a really nice date ambiance.(I will say after being there for about an hour it started to get REALLY loud, as the room filled up. We didn’t mind but some people on a date for the first time just might.) We were brought waters right away. Our waitress came over, introduced herself, told us the specials for the evening and let us have a few minutes to look over the drink menu. I ended up ordering a Flower Barrel($ 12) and my Husband ordered the the Jackie O’s seasonal beer($ 6.50). The Flower Barrel was just as I expected and the Husband was a little disappointed in the beer. He is just not a fan of a lot of hops and this was the beer on tap with the least amount but he still said it was a little too much. He did finish it and this was in no way the restaurant’s fault, just personal preference. I ended up ordering a cup of the Mushroom Soup($ 4.75) that the waitress talked up, as it was a special for the evening. It did not disappoint. Very flavorful and came out piping hot. I just wish it had been a little bigger.(and I wish I had taken a picture of it to share here.) My Husband ended up ordering the Steak Frites($ 28) after debating between that and the Risotto. He was VERY happy with the Steak and how it was cooked(medium, as he requested) and the Bistro Fries were delicious. I stole 2 or 3 for myself. I ordered the Strozzapreti(with no meat)($ 15) and it was just as delicious. Very full of flavor. I would recommend it to anyone who loves pasta, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. We ordered the Bananas Foster for dessert.($ 8) Bananas Foster is our favorite dessert and it was good. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t close to bad and we did eat it all. I don’t know what was off to me about it(maybe the way it was in the glass/presented?) but it was just fine. We would try another dessert the next time we visit. Staff was fantastic, our waitress was great.(I wish I would have remembered her name.) Ambiance was perfect for a date night, at the beginning.(we have a 1 ½ year old and don’t get much«us» time these days.) We would definitely recommend Lindey’s and plan on returning as soon as we can.

I love tuna tartare so I was excited to see it on the menu. I had to return it… it was warm and visually unappetizing. The manager quickly took care of it to ensure my satisfaction. Instead I ordered the angel hair pasta with shrimp, tomatoes and a creamy Cajun sauce. It was incredibly savory! So happy that the manager cared so much and turned my experience around.

I came to Lindey’s for restaurant week after hearing rave reviews from my boss. I was not disappointed! We had dinner on the early side(5:15pm). Around 6pm, the restaurant was bustling. My dinner made me and my stomach very happy :) I ordered a sweet and smokey tomato soup, gnocchi with maple glazed sweet potatoes, and gingered Apple crisp. Yum! I was so full I immediately regretted wearing pants.(Should have stuck with the dress). Anyway… I need/would love to come back to Lindey’s to experience the famous patio during the summer and fall.

We had inner at Lindy’s last night for restaurant week. We were seated in the very backroom of the restaurant. It is ok but does not have the charm of the main part of the restaurant. My husband had the tomato soup and I had the muscles for an appetizer. They were both very good. We both had the gnocchi which was very hot when served-a plus. The waitress offered to add freshly grated Parmesan cheese which enhanced the dish. For desert we had the Boston cream pie and special parfait. I expected a traditional Boston cream pie and was disappointed that it was a small round cake covered with ganache. There was moistly a somewhat dry cake. My husband asked if I had ordered a doughnut. In general we do enjoy eating at Lindy’s and enjoy their food.

They reeled me in. Went for restaurant week and didn’t even order off of the special menu! Lindey’s is a special place in the heart of German village in an old beautiful brick building. The bar in the front is quaint with house beverages sure to please and a wine list that is very impressive! The food is pure decadence. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer and man oh man I could have drank the creamy garlic sauce on them. For our main course I ordered the cedar plank salmon(delicious. Pretty much licked the plate) and my date ordered the lamb. We loved the lamb, especially the spinach cream sauce is came with. Our amigos(as we were on a double date) did order the restaurant week menu and were very impressed with the perfect cooked and melt-in-your-mouth filet. Will definitely return to Lindey’s for a special occasion. And must check out brunch I hear;-)

This place was our final decision for our restaurant week destination, and what a great choice it was! First of all it seemed like a very organized, well run establishment which definitey lead to the great experience we had. We started at the bar where i got a new york sour, which was pretty much a really good whiskey sour with a little thicker texture due to the addition of egg whites. Killer. For dinner, my lady and i split the muscles and they were unreal. A hefty portion with a rich creamy broth with what im guessing was panchetta, wr almost licked the plate when we were done. For entrees my lady got the salmon over a sweet purée that was cooked perfectly, and i can definitely say i enjoyed my little sample bite i had. As for me, the new zeland rack of lamb medium rare… Woah. Over an au jus and creamy spinach concoction i was so satisfied it wasnt even funny. Loved this restaurant!

Met up some friends for dinner with my wife and was pleasantly greeted by a bonfire on the sidewalk next to the entrance — not sure if this is a regular thing but was certainly eye catching(and a bit random)! We had delicious bread, both garlic-cheese crusted cracker form and warm loaf, a brussel sprout salad, spicy shrimp angel hair pasta, and a cup of French onion soup. By a cup, I mean a teacup — no joke. It was tasty but the size was a bit much. Food was on par for your average finer casual American fare. The steak bite I had(thanks to said friends) was savory and I’d come back to try their«torneduos of meat». Overall, it’s a rather large space with lively feel without being too loud. The outdoor patio looked great with Christmas lights, but I’ll have to wait for warmer months to try it out.

Easily 4 stars, if my husband’s dish was a little different we would have given 5! The atmosphere of this restaurant is exactly what I look for in an elegant & vintage place to enjoy a meal. We started with the mussels and we each had a glass of wine, then I got the 14oz rack of lamb and my husband got the duck confit. Mine was delicious and not too heavy, it was served with cream spinach instead of something like potatoes and my husbands had great flavor but we were expecting duck on the bone and that’s not what came out so he was slightly disappointed. Other than the food the service was excellent as well, our waitress was very attentive & even took the time to check with my that my lamb was cooked correctly because it looked too red for medium rare(it was a little red, but normally I would order by food rare and not many places like to cook it that way & my lamb was perfect!) A perfect meal with great service, definitely worth the money if you’re in the mood for upscale dining!

I was visiting my father at work when he had to attend a meeting during lunch hour. He suggested I walk around German Town to enjoy the sights of the old houses, cobble stone streets and cute little restaurants. Walking along East Livingston Avenue, I decided to Unilocal ‘lunch’ as there weren’t too many options for lunch near this part of German Town. What initially drew me to Lindey’s was how it seems nestled in this quaint section of Columbus, the menu and it was only four short blocks from the main road(EA Avenue). Walking away from Livingston the neighborhood became more quiet and still, allowing me to admire it’s charm. Approaching Lindey’s on Mohawk Ave, it was the only corner that had signs of life. An older, middle aged crowd began to pour outside and I realized that I might have been out of luck since I was a walk-in and it seemed crowded. The blonde in front offered me a seat at bar«anywhere» I wanted or at one of the cocktail tables where they also offered«full service». Seemed those people who weren’t alone and/or had reservations were segregated and placed on the other side of the restaurant. Apparently there was another room and an outdoor area open during warmer weather. No matter, sitting at the bar was lovely and very enjoyable. Later on I discovered you could give your car keys to the bartender for complimentary valet parking if the valet guy was not outside. I picked a seat at the bar and was given a menu. Although I was mulling it over, I was a bit surprised that no one approached me to offer me a wine menu or offer water right away. At the same time, I liked how there was no sudden interruption. I ultimately decided to go with the bowl of lobster bisque for $ 8. The bisque came out quickly and there wasn’t much waiting time. Figured this would be a decent size rather than the cup which I originally assumed wouldn’t be larger than a shot glass. I was wrong. The bowl was a very reasonable size so I thought the cup could be as well. The bisque had cream on top with a few tiny shrimp. It was marvelous and very smooth and creamy. Each bite was better than the last! To accompany the bisque was the standard bread basket. This basket had some warm, crispy French roll and crackers flavored with rosemary and parmesan along with a thin square of butter. To drink, I had a French Chardonnay as this particular white wine is best when paired with a rich meal like a bisque. The service from the beginning of my meal to the end was great — my server was working the bar and he was very kind. My one gripe was sitting at the bar only because it was far away enough that I couldn’t eat sitting up straight and i needed to slouch. I supposed that’s why there was a leather padding for those who had to lean and why a wooden plaque was given for my bisque to «even things out».

An institution in Columbus. It doesn’t matter if it’s lunch, happy hour, regular dinner, or late night drinks and dessert, you can’t touch the charm, atmosphere, service, and quality you will get. Yes, it’s a bit higher priced than other places. But guess what? There is no other place better than Lindey’s at what they do. It doesn’t matter if you are a high roller or scrounged enough coin to pay for it, the servers treat you with respect and like you are a regular customer. And don’t get me started on the bread service… it’s on point.

Lindey’s was pretty good. There were things my husband and I liked and some we didn’t. My husband and I came to Lindey’s while on a business trip to Columbus and we wanted a small little date night. We went on Friday night and it was packed and we didn’t have reservations so the wait was an hour. We sat at the bar for about 30 minutes then the hostess came and got us and said our table was ready. Not bad at all. We started off our night with wine at the bar. I was half way threw my wine and saw someone getting a chocolate martini and I just had to have one. I love chocolate martinis. Needless to say I didn’t finish my wine. The wines and the martini were good. After some drinks, we were seated at our table. We started with a side Caesar salad. We also ordered Fried Calamari & Shrimp as an appetizer. The side salad was not good. I’m not sure if they put to much dressing or if the salad was pre made and the lettuce got soggy. The lettuce seemed to be wet and limp. The calamari & shrimp were good. The calamari were in strips. It was served with cocktail sauce & remoulade sauce. We were also brought a bread basket. The bread was descent but the crackers that come in the basket were actually pretty good. For dinner I ordered the Lobster & Shrimp Risotto and my husband ordered the Amish Chicken. My risotto was really good. The lobster and shrimp were cooked well, and the entire dish was seasoned well. My husband said his chicken was descent. He said it wasn’t completely as tender as he would have liked and it wasn’t seasoned great. Overall it was just good, but not great. The presentation of both dishes were good and made you just want to dive in. After dinner we ordered dessert, we ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. It also had cherries or cranberries, I can’t remember. It was ok. I have had better bread puddings. I took about 2 bites and was done. It had to many cherries/cranberries for the size that it was. The bread pudding was small and it just had to many berries. I guess I’m trying to say the proportion of bread to berries wasn’t balanced to me. Overall, Lindey’s was good and I would recommend it to others. I would go back and just not order the things that I didn’t like. :)

On a drive across Ohio, I was in need of some lunch grub and this place came up on Unilocal. It’s a beautiful restaurant, which recently added quite a number of new menu items. The food is quality, the service is great, and the prices aren’t so bad considering it’s on the fancier side. I ordered coffee(long drives, blame me), which they served in a French press, and a new menu item of theirs, the warm winter salad, which I added salmon to. The salad was excellent and you can taste the goodness from all the superfoods it consists(brussels sprouts, kale, etc). I also sampled the salmon entrée salad which was very good as well. A shout out to the bread basket because it’s CHEEEEEEEESECRACKERS. Enough said.

Great food, atmosphere and service. I started with a wedge salad and the dressing was amazing. I ordered the Grouper with my entrée and it was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The fish was cooked perfectly. It was definitely worth the drive.

The food is really good; it has a home style feel to it. The portion sizes are good too and the menu has a large variety of items to satisfy most any palette. The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived for a 1630 reservation on a Saturday, but had definitely filled up before we left. Complimentary valet had just opened for our arrival. I started with the kale/arugula salad. It contained dried apricots, tomatoes, pancetta, pumpkin seeds and a peach/jalapeño vinaigrette($ 8). My guest had the Caesar salad and said it tasted authentic with a hint of anchovies in the dressing. We ordered 2 appetizers which were the calamari/shrimp($ 11) and the potstickers($ 8.5). The former were completely breaded and served with two sauces: cocktail sauce(definitely had horseradish in it) and remoulade. The potstickers were filled with chicken and served on top an Asian style slaw with a side of sweet chili sauce(my favorite — the calamari went well in it too!). My entrée was the Tournedos of Beef. These are two 4oz filets with with buttermilk chive mashers on the side as well as a few –literally– asparagus. Crispy onion straws covered half of the dish. My guest got the Amish Chicken that had the same mashers with it plus tri-color carrots. My guest said it was the best chicken she had ever had in a restaurant.(It was the waitress’ favorite too). For dessert we each ordered a sorbet out of a choice of 3 flavors. Each came with two scoops. Overall the meal was appropriately paced and the courses were served in the appropriate order. We did not feel rushed, but the kitchen service was certainly not slow. While the website says business casual dress code, there were definitely exceptions to the«rule.»

Lindey’s has been on the top of fine dining in Columbus for decades now, and they haven’t lost their touch. Having had dinner at another fine-dining establishment on Friday night, and having not been to Lindey’s for a shamefully long amount of time, I was excited to see if the comparison and my memories held up. Lindey’s did themselves proud from start to finish. We sat at the bar to wait for my dad and his wife to arrive, and Frank took excellent care of us(and even wished my spouse happy birthday after overhearing our conversation). There was a snafu with our reservation, but it was resolved smoothly with an offer to sit on the patio. While the parentals headed back outside, the spouse and I(with our drinks) were personally escorted through the dining area to the patio, where we rejoined our party. Let’s back up to the details, here. We got excellent service from the moment we walked in. Our bartender, even though we were clearly having one drink apiece, took care of us like we would be there all evening, and we were able to cash out within a minute or so when ready. Then, rather than allow us to wander and distract other diners, the host took 30 seconds to walk us confidently to the patio entrance and point out our party at a corner table. The patio is large and beautiful, with flowers, trees, and shrubs enclosing the area into a beautiful garden setting. Even though we were on the street side, it was quiet enough to speak at normal volume. The service staff were on point the entire night — drinks, water, bread, soup/salad, entrees — polite, unobtrusive, and quick to get us what we needed. Their sourdough and parmesan cracker breads are lovely. Our waiter was fun, and we discussed his power of recovering from bad tequila nights before he moved us into our dinner orders. I will say: I am PANTS at fine dining when it comes to ordering. Silverware, plates, glasses? No problem. Napkin placement, got that. But, putting an order together and pairing it to an appropriate drink? I’m still seven years old. My order? French onion soup, orecchiette with red sauce, spinach, goat cheese and pine nuts, paired with a glass of Riesling. HOTMESS. All of my choices tasted excellent, however — cooked perfectly and balanced for texture and flavor. Service, again, was on-point — we’d taken a couple of bites, and I looked up at the two-minute mark(the 2 – 3 minutes after entrée service when a waiter should check in to be sure the first bites are right as to order, taste, temperature, etc.) just in time for our waiter to check in. Details. Of course, I made another faux-pas, because martini + bread + soup + Riesling + pasta = take-home box. Faux pas or no, I finished that leftover pasta a few minutes ago, and it was next-day awesome. I might order that on Skip the Dishes for a next-day lunch. Dang. As far as prices go, Lindey’s is perfectly priced. There is an atmosphere of winning you over, they want your business, you as a repeat customer, and ideally as a regular. I’m not sure I could name many other restaurants on Lindey’s level in Columbus where I’ve felt that kind of hospitality.(G. Michael’s would be one other I can recall.) Very impressive.

I’d heard that this restaurant has a great Happy Hour, so I was very excited to meet my good friends for an enjoyable evening! I originally got us a table on the patio(wow, was a gorgeous space!), but we had to move inside, in order to get the HH prices. The inside décor is also elegant. White tablecloths. Flowers. Wood. Best part? I never felt out-of-place, or awkward. HALF off ALL drinks and their Bar menu?!! Our waiter, Kurt, was a pleasant man. He gave details were needed, and his personal picks when I asked. I was impressed with the many offerings on the bar menu. I ended up happily munching on two orders of their taco plate and two orders of their Potstickers plate. The pulled-pork tacos had a creamy salsaesque sauce drizzled that only aded to the protein. Very good and quite filling. The Potstickers were the star of my night. The meaty taste. The sweet/sour dipping sauce didn’t kill the dumpling. The dippers came with their homemade coleslaw, which was one of the two best coleslaws I’ve ever had enter my mouth — score! I don’t recall the name of the drink I ordered, but it was basically a mix or fruits, vodka, and sheer indulgence — yep, it was that good! I’m sure I could have downed four of those, if I wasn’t driving ;) To top it off? $ 5. Sha-da-wing! I most assuredly will be back here to try more of their HH concoctions. Such a great deal, I definitely recommend this establishment!

I came here the day after M during our celebration weekend looking for classy restaurants. This place was great, start to finish. Its a cute restaurant in beautiful German Village. Valet parking is free(+ tip). Reservations are easy on OpenTable. We were sat in the back basically in a private enclave(party of 7). Drinks were reasonably priced and good(Anyone that makes a drink with Angel’s Envy gets a +1 from me). Staff was attentive throughout the meal. And the food was great. The bread(both standard white rolls and this thin crispy«everything» thing) were to die for. I know thats easy, but our table went through like three rounds. I had the scallops with pea and potato purees(see pictures). It was not only gorgeous but delicious. A few members of our party went with appetizers for their main meal. The thinking was they weren’t hungry and it saved money, but the appetizers were huge. One member’s mussels order was easily more food than anyone else’s entrée! And her side of brussel sprouts was shared amongst the table. I’ve also been in the summer and sat out on the patio. Worth the wait! Its a gorgeous setting. This place is romantic for a date or classy to impress your family. Its nice and somewhat expensive, but I think its worth and worth going for almost all occasions. For dessert, hit up Jeni’s around the corner. Or cap off your meal with a craft cocktail from Curio a ¼ a mile away.
