Menards Columbus

Found everything I needed at a good price. This was the largest hardware store I’ve ever been in (that might not be saying much since I’m from Hawaii). I don’t even remember all the departments the store had. I did notice they had a general selection in each department but in some of the tool sections they didn’t have «specialty «tools. For example if you needed a brace and bit you’re not going to find one here. They had a large selection of cordless drills and a smaller selection of corded drills but nothing hand powered. I was also surprised that they didn’t carry yardsticks. I have a variety of tape measures in various lengths and widths, steel rules, calipers, folding ruler, and several other measuring devices but a yardstick comes in handy for smaller jobs and can be used as a small straight edge in a pinch. Many hardware stores back home often give out yardsticks with their store info printed on them for free or for a buck.
I have to give them credit for general customer service. Everywhere I went in the store someone asked if I needed help. As for specific help and knowledge about the things they were selling I feel they were lacking. What would really help in this area would be to hire retired, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, all the skilled trades etc… looking for an easy job giving them something to do after retirement where they can help the stores’ consumers.
Overall I’d recommend this store to anyone who needs basic hardware, yard supplies, or tools, and doesn’t need an «experts» opinion or guidance.
