I was taken care of very well when I visited in summer 2014 before starting chemotherapy. The consultant was so caring and took a lot of time to help me try on lots of wigs, and to teach me about wig care and how to put on the wig, etc. They helped me pick the cutest wig. It was actually a fun appointment during a scary time. I was also fortunate to have good health insurance which picked up the majority of the cost of my wig, due to my doctor writing a prescription for a hair prosthetic. Also, as a side note, I think some of the other reviewers do not understand that this shop serves women who are experiencing hair loss due to chemo or other reasons. It is not just a hat shop for men, women, etc. It serves a specific purpose.

This place came highly recommended. And yet I had an absolutely terrible experience here! I made an appointment with a certain woman, and yet when I showed up for my appointment she was not there. So alright, I talked to the woman there. Before helping me, she demanded to know WHY I wanted a wig, and when I told her, she began asking very personal information that had no relevance to wig-buying. Their in-store selection was terrible. They only had about 10 wigs in store, and perhaps 20 hats. The woman sat me down with 2 very thin catalogs, but did not even ask what I was looking for. She assumed I would want the same color/style as I have now(not entirely true) and ignored me when I tried to tell her otherwise. She was unable to tell me basic differences between types, and seemed to be completely out of her element. Finally, she asked me if I would like to make an appointment to come in another day to meet with the woman I originally had an appointment with! I will definitely be finding a different store.

I don’t have that tough of a time that Over My Head would specialize in head wear. Hat stores are pretty common sight. What I do have hard time with is understanding who would wear these particular hats. Most of the items are laughably unfashionable. I miss the genteel days of folks wearing(non-ball) hats everywhere as much as anyone… but these hats?!
