This is the best Indian grocery store as far as i have seen. Its very clean, Organized, and friendly staff. They have ton of varieties and quality of food stuff they carry is really good. This is the best Place to buy Mangoes. They are fantastic! The downside is it can get really busy during weekends and check out lines will be pretty long. The best time to visit is during weekdays!
Oh my goodness!!! Best customer service. My husband called this store and have saved some special indian mangoes. They saved it for 3 days and I went there to pick it up. They did not have to do that. It’s a high demand variety apparently but they kept their promise. Love service like this!

I’m ashamed to say that I’ve only recently discovered how amazing Indian food is. After first trying it at a restaurant, the natural next step was to explore Indian grocery stores. Within the past year or so, I’ve been to several Indian grocers and this one is easily my favorite. Everything smells delicious and the selection is impressive. My last purchase here included 8oz of frozen fried paneer for $ 3.79 and 10 loaves of spicy naan for $ 3.49. I love the $ 1.99 ready-to-eat packaged meals; a great way to try new dishes on the cheap. $ 20 can buy you so much food here. They also sell the premixed tubes of henna paste. I usually scoop up a few of those to have on hand. They’re a fun alternative to my bad habit of doodling on my skin.

I was very pleased by the vast variety. I had no trouble finding the ingredients that I needed. And saw a lot of things I want to try in the future. I took off two stars because 1) The aisles were not very wide and were often blocked by the carts of other customers. 2) At first I was excited to see a selection of «Bollywood» DVD’s, but was quickly disappointed when they all appeared to be bootlegs(they were selling movies that haven’t been released on DVD yet. e.g. Dhoom 3).

As a desi road-warrior, I get to frequent desi grocers and restaurants in cities I happen to be. While on a consulting engagement in Dublin, OH, I looked up Indian grocers on the web and found Patel Brothers. As with many other PB’s in other cities, this is spacious and well stocked. And just like at Wal-mart’s the attentive staff opens up checkout counters as the lines grow, a big plus for busy desi shoppers during weekends. The only shortcoming? Fresh Samosas are stocked only during weekends, and generally are sold-out by evenings on Saturday/Sunday!

Patel Brothers is the original Indian store. Back when Apu Nahaseemapatilan was plying his wares on a corner of Springfield, so was your local Patel Brothers. This is the closest thing to a «brand» among the Indian immigrant community, and accounts for why people still visit despite the addition of several fierce competitors. I recently came here along with my grad student friends, who insisted on this place over any other, because they hadn’t heard of the others. Apparently, the brand travels. To other countries. When inside, one can see why. It has everything one’s heart can desire in an Indian store: tindora, mango pulp, mango ice cream(psst! did you know you can make mango ice cream by blending mango pulp with vanilla ice cream and re-freezing it?), mango pickle, Maggi noodles, green coconut water… One huge reason Patel Brothers remains strong is its groceries; its competitors just don’t have the selection and freshness Patel Brothers is known for. Prices on Shan masala packets are also higher than, say, India Grocer, but lower than Plaza Internationale. Indian or not, there is something for everyone at Patel Brothers. Besides slurpees.

I worship this place. When it moved from Kenny and Henderson I had a little heart attack, thinking — oh God, I need to find a new Indian store to get my cheap pulses, spices, frozen veggies, rice, coconut milk, curry leaves, and Masala Munch potato chips — and then was quickly relieved to see that it had moved, not closed. I am not as familiar with this new, fancy Patel Bros, but I’m happy the business appears to be doing well. Someone mentioned the chickpea bag — yup, been there, bought that. Used them all, need more. Saved probably 20 $ in the long run. The produce here is more seasonal than not — you’ll find some things that are high quality and awesome sometimes, but then shriveled and sad other times. Generally, starchy things are always good, Indian peppers are spicy, and I’d avoid the tomatoes or anything that perishes quickly. This is the sort of place where they have a 10 $ minimum credit card limit(they might not anymore, not sure) and you can buy an armful of goodies, sure that you’ll be over the limit, but need to grab an extra 3 cans of coconut milk to go over the total. I’m mostly more of an expert on the non-premade stuff, although my boyfriend assures me the premade packages of chana masala, etc, are fine, but all of the other stuff I’ve purchased from here has been perfectly acceptable about about half the price of what you’d pay at a normal grocery store. I mentioned the Masala Munch Lays potato chips. BUYTHESE. If you like spicy food, these will change your life, or at least make you prone to hyperbole. They’re sort of like the Thai Kettle Chips, but better and cheaper. And, this was the one place I could find chaat masala with ease. Now that this place is in the Sawmill area, it’s yet another specialty store eeking into my relationship with WFM. With the Andersons(awesome), Trader Joes(awesome for some things), and now Patel Brothers within a square mile of WFM, and thereby decreasing my need to enter that amazing bastion of yuppiedom, I think my wallet may begin thanking me.

Southeast Asian here. I’ve gotten really into Indian cuisine lately and this store has everything I needed. It was REALLY clean, open, and had a fresh selection of veggies. I haven’t been to other Indian grocers so I can’t compare the price, but I like how they stack their spices in little itty bitty cubicles in the walls. If I keep on coming here and watching Manjula on youtube, I’ll be good to go. Who would’ve thunk they’d have curry ramen? thats pretty neat!

Great customer service, very clean, very nice produce(except for very sad looking green and red bell peppers for some reason), AND some great unique fruits. Prices were very reasonable, especially to someone who has been buying specialty ingredients at typical American groceries. IE Four pounds of dry chickpeas for $ 4.99??? SOLD!!!(For comparison sake, a pound or so of similar quality is usually around $ 6-$ 9 at Kroger/Giant Eagle.) Also of note, check out the dry spice combination packs. Anywhere from $ 1-$ 2.50 a piece, I stocked up to send them to my poor mother who cannot get ANY Indian spices/ingredients in the very small town she lives. Add in it’s less than a mile from my house and you have a 5-star review!
