Sam’s Billiards and Karaoke

Sam’s Billiards and Karaōke. Ok. Where do I begin? I’m a total novice when it comes to karaōke. Not even a novice. I’m a complete beginner. My friend was having a small birthday get-​together, and he loves doing karaōke. My wife and I showed up around 10pm, and noticed that the place looked completely abandoned. The sign on the door says to use the side entrance. We walked down the side walk, past the multiple piles of puke, and entered the door. We were greeted by the lone employee, standing at the desk in nearly complete darkness. I think there may have been some pool tables off the right, but all the lights were off, so it was hard to tell. The gentleman asked if we were there to meet our friends. We said we were and he told us to go to room #3. We walked over to the room, and opened the door. Now, are friends are by no means dirty people, but when that door opened, we were greeted by a hot swampy blast of air. The stale, sweaty, stagnant room was lit by some funky disco lights, and TV on the karaōke machine hilariously plays random videos of dancing elephants, tropical seascapes, Las Vegas gondola rides, etc. Pretty much what I expected.
The karaōke itself boasts a large library of hits and lesser known songs. The room, which was about $ 30/​hr, features 2 wireless microphones with little protective sheaths on them (I assume for sanitation reasons). The sound is is extremely reverb-​y, and gain-​y. Not very easy on the ears.
We only lasted about 30 minutes in this BYOB establishment before we had to bail out. It was too hot. Maybe we were too tired. Everybody else in the party was having a pretty good time though. Maybe we just needed to get drunk.
