The first time I tried their pizza I wasn’t too impressed. But we had a chance to try it later. It’s not a true New York style pizza — but it’s better than some of the cracker crust pies in the Columbus area. Their sauce at times can be a bit thin. So I guess it can be hit or miss.

How very sad. Our first trip in our new neighborhood pizza joint and here’s how it goes. We walk in to order dinner. Two people in front of us, two people behind us, and the only occupied register seems to be paralyzed by a phone order. Nothing moving in or out because of an employee on a phone order. Then some guy comes from the back to look over her shoulder. Can’t help us though. Just be a minute he says. Really? Okay. Then you look in the back at all the other employees standing doing nothing. Saturday night, people in the lobby, people in line two registers one person in the front on phone, and nothing being done. It was rather frustrating to watch. So now the girl is done with her phone call, the guy that was looking over her shoulder takes over at the register. Why wait untill then? As soon as he takes an order another girl appears to occupy the second register. Where was she when everyone was standing staring at the walls? But thats not the worst part. We were dining and warching the girl who appeared after the crowd left. She was bending down below the counter and coming back up with slices of pizza. So on our way out we glanced behind the counter and saw that they apparently keep their slices of pizza for resale on the lower counter shelves to be heated as customers ordered it. Not in any kind of enclosure, not covered, and next to other supplies. So basically, if someone walking by the counter could easily brush up against it. And god forbid if they were to sweep the floor, the debris from the floor could no doubt get on these slices. My next question would have to be to directed to whatever health inspector said that it would be okay to store product near the floor in unprotected trays. So to make a long story over. I will NOT be eating there again. And to a hopeful inspector that may be reading this, you may want to take a look at this to believe what I was seeing. Ohhh, another funny thing, one of the employees was obviously ready to head home. She is putting her coat on in the front lobby, has her purse, when who I’m assuming is the manager asking her if she is still on the clock She says yes. He then asked her to take out the trash. Pretty funny when someone is still on the clock can go in the front put on coat ready to leave… who are these people? At least he stepped up and called her out on it. So corporate Sbarro, I can’t imagine why you left the malls to open this up. Good luck with that.

I love sbarro in the mall alot. So I was hoping that the sbarro on high street was going to be good and it just was not. Came in for pizza and a ceaser salad. 1 the place was not clean trash on table. And the workers on there cell phones ignoring the customers. 2 it’s a pizza place where you could get the pizza but the slice well they gave me a very hard time about getting 2 slices of pizza. Didn’t appreciate that. 3 didn’t have a ceaser salad so I got a different salad but had to wait 15 while they make a salad. Very disappointed

Pro tip: skip Sbarro and get your pizza by the slice at Lucky’s Market. Thank me later. Oh Sbarro. I heard through the grapevine Sbarro pizza was coming to Clintonville. I was told they had this whole new concept and they were trying to appeal to the neighborhood markets. I was led to believe the pizza was going to be something new and unlike the pizza found in airports and malls across America. Well I’m a pizza lover. I’ve had pizza all over the country and even had authentic woodfired pizzas in Italy. My favorite pizza places in Columbus are places like harvest pizza, Natalie’s pizza, Adriatico’s, pizza by the slice on Ohio State campus, pizza house over off Sinclair, even Anges pizza is half way decent. I quite often indulge in the cousin Vinnys late-night pizza because they deliver till 3AM and frankly for cheap pizza it’s pretty good. My uncle has a wood fire pizza oven that he hand built in his back yard. I love to make my own pizza dough from scratch and our family will often have pizza competitions. Yes, it’s safe to say that I love pizza. That being said, I was hoping for something new and maybe exciting in Clintonville. There’s been a lot of really good little restaurants and places popping up. I was hoping that Sbarro Clintonville would be something unique and maybe different than the others. They just open so I stopped in for a slice. I ordered a regular slice and then saw they had Sicilian. The first thought that came to mind was the taste of that incredible Sicilian at Pizza by the Slice on OSU campus. I, of course, ordered the Sicilian instead. She quickly boxed it up and told me it just came out of the oven was very fresh. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Now, onto the pizza. What a disgrace. It tasted like Pizza Hut. It tasted like preservatives and poor ingredients. There’s absolutely nothing fresh about this pizza. This is like the Burger King of pizza places. If you love pizza, do yourself a favor go down a few more blocks to harvest pizza and have one of the best pizzas you’ve ever had in your life. Don’t want to pay the price for top notch pizza at harvest? Get a slice or whole pie at Luckys. Luckys market has AMAZING pizza by the slice for only $ 2.99. Very fresh and reminiscent of pizza you will find in Italy. Compared to sbarros $ 2.99 slice, it’s comical. The last thing this world needs is another fast food chain pushing unhealthy processed products. You can taste quality. Sbarro unfortunately fails my review. If you love Pizza Hut, maybe you’ll Like it.

Stopped in @sbarro(clintonville) tonight. Gotta say… not impressed at all. My stromboli has sat in the warmer and is burnt. The tables are dirty(the three that don’t have employees sitting at them). Too pricey for pizza only joint(at least there is pasta at the mall.) The parmesan containers are empty. The ONEANDONLY trash can is full.(Need to note: the training manager was sitting at the counter NEXTTOTHEFULLTRASHCAN plugged into his laptop and not directing at all) I count no less than 12 employees, most of which are standing around… texting on phones… playing with each other’s hair. Teenagers/new employees need direction. They need leadership. They need examples. I did not see any of that tonight. So would not happen on my watch… ever. Will probably not do a second try. (OH…the food was pretty bleh, too. Also I’m surprised they could hear us order bc it was very hard for us to hear over the ovens.) Amended: a lady from the back did come out and ask how things were. And she brought us water refills. Which was nice bc it’s about 1000 degrees in here.
