Sideswipe is a local brewer that has a taproom open to the public a few days each week. It is a really cool space that is relatively tiny but fits many people comfortably. There are also a bunch of board games. I went there after getting a groupon for a tasting flight, and ended up leaving with a growler full of one of the beers that I really liked! Though it wasn’t clear that they sold a tasting flight, they sell 5oz glasses of their different beers for ~$ 2, so you can design your own and taste them all. I imagine the beers change regularly, but the bartender was great at telling us about all of them, and made us feel very comfortable. The only difficult thing was the location — if you think you’ve gone the wrong way, you probably haven’t! It’s in a very industrial area, and on the road you’ll see a sign that says Taproom with an arrow pointing to it. Make sure you check their website to go during the time when the taproom is open, but otherwise you should be set. I’m definitely looking forward to going back!

Sideswipe is another local brewer that puts the ‘micro’ in microbrewery, but owner, brewer, bartender, and pretty much everything else Craig O’Herron’s trick is that he’s managed to make their warehouse space feel comfortable and cozy instead of cramped or confined. With a beautiful reclaimed wood bar to provide the majority of their seating(though there are other tables, and in good weather they’ll open the rolling door and put patio tables and benches outside), they draw your attention to the taps and the chalkboard showing their current lineup available for tasting and purchase in bottles or growlers. The brewery area is located around the back and side of the space, and they’re happy to give tours and offer explanations of what they’re up to. My personal favorites there include their Elegant Hoodlum smoked stout, which has a really unique flavor thanks to the smoked malt used in it’s creation, and their Coop Looter saison, which has a nice spicy aftertaste after the initial hoppy flavor. They are in a difficult spot to find unless someone takes you there(or you have a good relationship with Google Maps), but there’s plenty of places to pick up bottles around town if you’d prefer to enjoy it with a little less of a back road adventure.

The location is off the beaten path a bit, but it’s worth it! We’ve been here twice now, and while the space is small and a little odd, the beer is fantastic. They did just install a nice bar though that allows for some more seating. The service has been super friendly both times. I seriously love their beer though. Every. Single. One. If you’re indecisive like me, you can get a flight sampler of all their beers, which I highly recommend. Their pricing is also great compared to some other craft beers. Seriously, go checkout Sidewsipe. You won’t be disappointed!

Great vibes! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. I came out here for work and decided to trying out the brewery. Me and my co-worker tried out the flight of beer and we both agreed the pumpkin beer was the best and the IPA was a close second. Great vibes and great people!

We got here at 4:30 today and there were two ladies having a beer in their patio area… turns out they don’t open until 5pm, but the guy behind the counter was happy to serve us. I guess people show up early and if the doors are open, you can get a beer! Hopefully, this means they’ll start to have longer hours. They had six beers on draught, so I got a flight with all six! I really liked the smoked porter, the pumpkin beer(seasonal, I presume) and surprisingly, their kolsch. I don’t care much for IPAs or Saisons, so it’s hard to say if they were good or not. I could tolerate the saison, so that was good enough for me. I didn’t care much for the smoked ale, as it tasted a bit like a jerky flavor. I suspect there are plenty of people who would be into that. The space is pretty simple — they brew in the back area and there is casual seating in the front. There is also a ‘patio’ area out in front in the parking lot, with some seating and a shade canopy. I liked that they had an assortment of board games, and free pretzels and cheese balls for snacks! The beer is solid, and I hope to go back again to try more of their seasonal offerings. It’s tucked back in a warehouse area, so look for the sandwich board sign!

This was a fun brewery to find! It’s located in a business park and operates out of a warehouse. Tiny little place with some outside seating, and a couple tables inside. The beers were fantastic. Oh Country is probably one of my favorite lighter beers now. Fisticuffs was a nice IPA, it smelled very hoppy [I almost didn’t try it because of that!], but the flavor was almost perfect. Not too bitter, didn’t have a weird aftertaste. It’s definitely worth stopping in to check out.

This humble warehouse brewery is turning out the best craft beer in Columbus. In addition to knockout year-round offerings and seasonals, the brewery regularly features new beers at its taproom each week. Coop Looter saison and Pixelated Sun hoppy wheat are two of my favorites, but everything is good here. A must visit! They bottle, but a lot of their beer is only available at their brewery.

What other taproom can you regularly speak with the brew master? Sideswipe has a delicious selection of 6 beers and a relaxed atmosphere. Outside food is allowed and they offer a wide range of board games to spark conversation as you enjoy Sideswipe’s ample varieties of beer. It’s a great time.
