Because technology moves at such a quick pace, it seems I always have old appliances I need to get rid of. If they’re not too outdated, I usually donate them. But, if they’re too old and lethargic, they end up sitting in my closet in limbo. The problem is, I recycle everything I can; but I can’t just throw a computer monitor into the recycling bin. And a lot of the tech recycling places I’ve researched in Columbus charge you for taking your old junk. So landing on Tech Used was a huge discovery for me. Tech Used is a family run business owned by Ron Bragg. Ron is a genuinely nice guy with good intentions. He’ll take your old electronics, break them down, and scrap the parts appropriately. They scrap almost the entire unit. They even find a use for the lead, mercury, and phosphorous. And they do it for free! The only thing I know for sure Tech Used can’t take is an old wood framed TV; they can’t find a company to sell the scraped wood parts to. I’m not 100% sure they take big kitchen appliances like stoves and refrigerators either. But if you have a printer, a laptop, a stereo, a random computer accessory — they’ll take it.
