Hooray for a new dive gay bar on the West Side! The Back Door is brand new and still getting their feet wet — so be kind and patient with them. But they have loads of potential, and I’m excited to see what all they do! Some of the highlights for me: +Parking! Plenty of space in the lot. +Really nice-sized bar that’s separated into different spaces: booths and tables to watch a show, around the bar, and in the back with pool tables. +Drag queens + strippers = a good time.(Check Facebook for the schedule.) +Super clean and newly-renovated interior. Literally the only downside for me was the price of drinks. We had 4 well drinks, and it cost nearly $ 30($ 28 or $ 29… can’t remember which). I mean, c’mon — this is a dive bar in the Hilltop serving drinks in plastic cups — don’t get bougie on me with the prices. I hope they fix this because I would love for this bar to go in my regular rotation, a place where I can spend a few hours and have lots of cheap drinks with my friends. If you love a dive gay bar, definitely give The Back Door a try. It’s an unassuming building from the outside, but inside is loads of fun just waiting to happen.
