I’ve been to OSU East a few times in the past. To visit family and friends, for a kidney stones operation, as now back again for a CT and check-up. A decent amount of FREE parking(day time appts. there’s always more spots closer to the building). Always beats having to pay at the main campus’s hospital. I’ve always had, for the most part, good nurses, staff and registration specialists. Floors and signage is good — I had to follow the buckeyes to get to West registration. Nice touch. The cafeteria is small. It serves the purpose though if you need some sustenance.

I have been coming here the last few weeks to receive iron infusions, and I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by my visits. From the outside, it looks a bit like the hospital that time forgot; but do not be deceived by the exterior. Well, to be honest, the inside is dated too, but what I’m really referring to is the quality of the care received. The infusion lab is up on the 14th floor, and my hematologist was on the 13th floor, so every time I’ve visited I’ve enjoyed the great view! I love looking out the window at all the cool houses on the near east side. Anyway… the staff here is really friendly and accommodating. They also handle patients who are going through chemo, so they are understanding that people here might be going through some tough times, and they are very warm. I had a reaction to a kind of iron infusion that was prescribed for me on my first visit, which caused me to pass out. I had to be sent down to the ER for monitoring, and it was kind of a crazy and random thing that happened. Throughout the whole process, the nurse in the IV lab was there, holding my hand and telling me everything that was happening. They really made me feel like they were looking out for me. Whenever I go in, they are always really personable. Also, you get to watch cable tv during your infusion! Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. This hospital is just a good, if not better, than those shiny new ones out there!

The rooms are tiny, but the staff is very friendly and competent. We came in from out of town when my son was admitted. They went out of their way to make us comfortable in the limited space available. The building itself could use an update, but otherwise a great facility. My son is ok, and my wife and I will be on our way back home later today!

I frequent the OSU hospital system quite often and sometimes it can be a chore. But any appointment I’ve ever had at OSU East has been quick and on time. The nurses are all super friendly. The hospital is clean. And the cafeteria food is not that bad. It can be tricky getting here from south of Columbus, but it’s overall an easier experience than going to the main hospital.

I’ve been to way too many hospitals in my sometimes sickly, often accident prone lifetime and this is one of my favorites. Small, but not to the point of being understaffed or under-equipped. Easily accessible to people from all walks of life. Friendly, servie-oriented staff. Competent surgeons and nurses. I had my pelvic CT done here one week; met with Dr. Schlanger for my pre-op appointment; had an excisional lymph node biopsy performed in the OR; and met with Dr. Schlanger and the pathologist for my post-op follow-up. All of these visits were pleasant, fast, and highly efficient. I was very impressed by all the people and staff I interacted with.

What a community hospital should be — accessible, caring, efficient, effective. Providing services to the cities underserved. A knowledgable, dedicated staff.
