Finally got ourselves together enough to hit the Winking Scotsman during a trip to Palmer’s. It’s a small truck with a dude inside, serving up a few different kinds of Scotch/hand pies. We decided to get one of each pot roast, bleu cheese chicken, and chicken chili. All good, with the bleu cheese maybe squeaking by as the best. The crust held the hefty ingredients inside perfectly without crumbling or dripping or getting soupy. That is the proper definition of a portable meal. That crust stuffed full of meat and cheese will put hair on your chest and a twinkle in your eye for sure.

The meat pie was good. The wheat crust was a dense dough. Thin. Put all the shabigalo inside, pop it in the oven, served fresh and hot. Descent flavor. Reminiscent of my mother’s pot roast with potatoes, carrots and celery in the bottom of the roasting pot. The shredded meat was tasty. I coupled my pie with their Blueberry Mango Applesauce. To too much of a fan of that. It tasted like… Well, applesauce. I love, I mean love, blueberries and mango, so more of those fruity hints would definitely be a plus.
