Columbus recently opened a splash pad along the river at Woodruff Park right in front of Whitewater Express. The splash pad itself is pretty basic– several jets that randomly shoot out of the ground. The ground is hard cement– not spongy and soft like some splash pads. There’s very little shade in the immediate area and although there are some boulders to sit on there isn’t much in the way of seating. It’s a good start though, and much needed. The splash pad had a good sized group of folks when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. It’s a short walk from downtown and a nice way to cool off on a hot summer day.
