This store was once a customer-less mystery, puzzling the lone straggler who visited every other hour as to how it remained in business. I purchased stuff to patch dumb holes I punched in things, I purchased some home project type stuff like nails, etc. I bought a lot of Jones soda here. None of that matters now, though, as the whole strip mall was bulldozed over a year ago. This land is now filled with condos/apartments/etc. This listing should probably be removed.

The need to duplicate keys brought me to this Zettler hardware once or twice. I would like to stop into their Main St. location sometime soon – i hear it’s nice(Kris H told me so). The help was good and manly, the keys worked fine. The strip mall this store sits in is rather desolate and decaying and empty-feeling. Zettler’s is high-ceilinged and has the standard multitude of categories of implements, but i don’t know just how well stocked they are. I haven’t browsed it very thoroughly.

Yikes! If there was such a thing as a dive hardware store, this oversized, understaffed joke of a hardware store would surely take the cake. The walls and shelves here are frequently bare, the lighting is terrible, and the staff cannot be counted on for even the simplest of tasks. I’ve come here a couple times to get keys made, and I ended up having to come back to get the bad cut corrected at least twice both times. If you’re looking for something simple like a hammer, a screw driver, or some paint brushes to repair the damage you’ve done to your nearby off-campus apartment, then this place will do in a pinch. Ostensibly, it’s location is the only thing that keeps it running. The overall feeling you get when you park your car outside of the run-down strip mall that Zettler is located in is that it’s been on the verge of closing for over a decade. I’ve seen signs of squatters in the deceased laundromat next door, and as soon as this place finally decides to cut its losses and hang it up, they’re certainly next. I’d recommend driving another mile up High to Schreiner Ace for any substantial hardware queries or purchases if you know what’s best for you.
