This store has little to no inventory and little to no selection of sizes. I needed to get a new suit in a larger size and they only had blue and black. There should be either bright winter colors or the new spring colors. I was disappointed but I still had to buy a suit. One redeeming quality is that the sales woman was nice and helpful and got me a discount based on using my macys charge.

This was my complaint I emailed to corporate this morning: Last night at 5:30 pm I went to your Commack, NY store to pick up an item I had reserved and paid for already on line. Thinking that it would be a very quick process I walked into the very quiet store and headed to the fine jewelry counter. I waited at that desk for 15 minutes before I was ever acknowledged. Then was told that I had to go downstairs and go to the first cashier on the right, no problem I thought. Went downstairs to be greeted by a very kind handicapped man behind the counter. He was with someone and asked me to wait for him while he finished up with his current customer, I thought to myself that he was the nicest employee I’ve encountered so far. Now being in the store for 20 minutes I was a bit frustrated but willing to wait. Finally being called upon by him I presented my phone and he scanned the bar code unfortunately he was a bit unsure about how to pick up the order and a line started to form behind me. He was getting frazzled. He tried to call for management to no avail. I told him, as the line was getting longer«I will come back to you I have some shopping to do anyways» giving him an opportunity to get the line down. I looked around for 10 minutes and returned to him as he had no customers but now with a new item as well. Again, a line started to form behind him and he didn’t know how to process my order. He began to get very frustrated and was continuously trying to call any management for help. He cried out«Why wont anyone help, no one is picking up the phone!!» He apologized to everyone and tried to serve me and another lady at the same time. Continuously apologizing to me the whole time. I was heartbroken to say the least. I told him not to worry about and that I would try a girl at a different counter that wasn’t as busy. I went around to the children section and the young girl behind the counter said«Unfortunately you will have to go to his counter sorry». Shocked at her lack of effort I noticed that the HR department was behind her and decided to walk in. Please keep in mind I have been trying to pick up one item(that is paid for) for 1 hour at this point. I went up to the lady at the desk, Lorraine I think her name is. She gave a very perplexed look, as to say«What are you doing in this office?». I explained to her my situation and the lack of management that was accessible to help this poor boy. She shot back at me «Yes, I know, the managers are eating their dinners right now» shocked I said back«I would love to eat my dinner as well but instead I am sitting in your office.» She then let me know she would take me and get the item herself. The entire walk across the customer floor was nothing but your HR team berating your HANDICAPPED team member. I explained to her that this was not his fault. She told me he was seasonal and couldn’t wait for all these«types» of people to leave. I explained to her that any employee handicapped or not, should still have a member of management available to them if they are under trained due to the holiday season. Also, for both managers to be taking dinner together 4 days before Christmas is unbelievable. I worked for Macy’s many years ago and I don’t remember it operating this poorly. She continued to babble on and then went over and yelled at the boy in front of 3 customers who immediately put their heads down in shame and embarrassment for him. Absolutely unacceptable behavior for someone that is supposed to protect their employees. I am very disappointing with Macy’s and I am contemplating to never return to your stores, mostly definitely not your Commack store, any time soon. Hoping to hear a response from you regarding this and hoping you rectify the situation.

I have been meaning to write a review since last week. I went to Macy’s on thanksgiving eve expecting it to be quiet but unfortunately that was not the case in the shoe department. The sales associate was all by himself(someone apparently called out). He was running back and forth checking shoes in the back, tending to demanding customers, ringing customers up, providing excellent service, calling other stores etc. All by himself without giving the slightest attitude or look of stress in his face. But OFCOURSE you have to have that one rude customer that starts to yell at him demanding to speak with a manager. The sales associate, Michael(I think was his name) handled this professionally and called a manager and apologized to the woman. The woman kept going with another older woman about how this is such bullsh**… Being in the healthcare field as well as having four solid years of retail experience I felt terrible for this kid and had to stand up for him! Needless to say I got attacked as well by the woman but. Michael the sales associate was so calm, professional and understanding! I’ve never had any issues with the service at Macy’s… Virginia(again I’m terrible with names) in the Estée Lauder department is always so helpful and attentive as well. So anyway, both of these employees are in need of some recognition! Four stars for Macy’s in Commack. Just shy of one because sometimes I feel like their stock is slacking a little bit but other than that. No issues at all! I hope they get the recognition they deserve.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that the dressing rooms are always dirty and smell like pee or how it always seems like there are only 3 employees working. Yuck… This store needs a makeover quick.

I liked that this Macy’s is local but it’s seriously disgusting. The dressing rooms smell of urine and other nasty odors and are very dirty. I even saw a dead roach on the floor of the dressing room, gross! I will avoid going here from now on.

Truly the grossest Macy’s in existence. It always smells like the place had been recently flooded and the dressing rooms are beyond filthy. It is close to my house so I have stopped by a few times to quickly grab an item instead of going all the way to the mall. However I never find what I am looking for and always get repulsed. Will never go to this store again.

Rude, rude, rude. Called about an item and the woman in lady’s shoes was no help at all and even hung up on me.

Been going for years. Generally to return stuff I bought online or from the much larger but further smithhaven mall or city locations. Customer service is hit or miss…

Probably the only Macy’s in NY aside from the 34th street store that isn’t located in a mall. The main floor has jewlery, colognes, sunglasses, bags, mens and women’s wear. The bottom floor consists of the kids section, furniture, bedding, and kitchen appliances. The store goes back to the Sterns days, yeah THAT old! But they carry quality shirts, jeans, and dress wear in the men’s section. Somehow this place always has a pretty filled parking lot and on the weekends is constantly full. The customer service here is great despite the old feel this store has.

Meh… selection here is alright, go during the week midday/on lunch to eliminate the possibility of any sort of line(or assistance from staff).

Department store. I like this Macy’s location because it is on the small side and it is never crowded — ever. Being Macy’s it has all the items you know and expect there, but it is not so cramped, like Hicksville, but not a giant box either, like Roosevelt Field. It is the perfect size if you ask me. The offerings are good especially if you catch a sale — other than that, you should know what to expect. Personally, I use the Clinique counter here and the super double bonus is that it is literally the first thing you see when you walk in the door — I get my stuff and get going in minutes — perfect! Parking in front.

typical Macy’s except a smaller store. Meaning their stock is limited. Its a great store though. I worked here when I was a teen and it was Sterns then.
