I almost hate to let this little secret out but Commerce City has a pretty decent trail system that almost starts right at my front door and connects to the various regional trails in Colorado.
This section of trail just opened in October and leads from Reunion South heading northbound through the future park area and Second Creek Open Space area, under 104th Ave, and connecting to trails leading to Brighton and other areas.
There’s no parking allowed near this trailhead currently so you’ll have to be local or have a friend living over here, but it makes for a nice quick hike.
The open space portion has a lot of prairie dogs and basically follows Second Creek.
Overall, not too bad Commerce City! Most dog owners even clean up after themselves!
