Cougar Run Winery

I tried this place for the first time not too long ago. The store itself is beautiful. It is clean and organized, with nice décor. The staff was pretty friendly. The prices of the wines by the glass and slushes are a little outrageous. I don’t think I have paid that much for wine in… forever. Most of it was tasty, but nothing special. Not worth the exorbitant price at least. A nice place to sit if you go to food truck Friday.

Atmosphere was very good. A great place to meet friends. A very wide variety of wine. Wine was just average.

So a coworker and I came to Concord for a training and the training was being held in an office above this place. We walked by the winery a couple of times when leaving for lunch and saw some postings in the window for wine flavored ice cream. After leaving from training we decided to venture in and ask about the wine flavored ice cream. Upon entering — the space is gorgeous; however, we were greeted by a less than stellar welcome. We came in and said «hello we saw the sign outside for wine flavored ice cream.» The employee (an older lady) with absolutely no type of enthusiasm flatly said yes. My coworker and I asked if they had did tastings of the ice cream to which she simply replied no. We asked about the flavor types and she listed them off with no additional information or zeal about the product that her business is trying to sell. We HAD to ask her to how much the product cost and looked like to which she told us they were $ 9 and that we needed to be 21 years old… Both of us work full time and are in management positions at our agency mean… old enough and able to purchase the product… I wouldn’t have been offended with her carding us, but at least ask if that what you are concerned with. She was rude and extremely uninterested in our business which is sad since we are not from here and may not encounter wine flavored ice cream. Since they don’t allow tastings I probably would have just purchased one of the pints to try at our hotel. If it was delicious, I would come back to purchase more for the future. We have to go back to the office again tomorrow and I will be sure to share our experience with my cohorts and others in the office. I have been to many wineries up and down the east coast and have never received that level of terrible service or lack luster sales. Again it was a beautiful space; however, if they had staff that demonstrated even the most basic level customer service their business may not be as empty as it was in side.

We had a blast! This was the perfect location for our engagement party in every way. Love that we got to use the patio and inside there was so much space. Amazing wines all of our guests enjoyed the evening. The staff was very professional and courteous, they went above and beyond to meet our needs. And us Armenians and Italians can be very needy lol. Plan your next event here if you want it to be memorable and exquisite. Thank you Deb and Tom!

So it was finally time for our moms to meet! I know right?! But the whole experience was wonderful! We did a wine tasting for four, with the 1 ounce flight. It was really cool he actually set it up for us the way that we were supposed to taste it from top to bottom. We purchased cheese and crackers and really enjoyed ourselves. It was the perfect casual atmosphere. They do have outside seating as well. I can’t wait to go back again and try the ice cream. I love supporting family owned businesses. And just knowing each wine was made from love, right there in the building is really cool!
Children are not aloud in the winery. However I feel like that is a matter of personal preference for the owner. And for me as a patron going to a winery, something a little bit more upscale for Concord. It really was a nice adult setting to get away from it all.

Cougar Run was suggested by a neighbor because of their variety of wines. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with rudeness and disrespect because our daughter was with us. We were told they don’t normally do tastings, however weren’t explained to why until I pushed for the reason because others there were doing a tasting. Only then did the older woman say because of your child. Whom by which we were holding the entire time. We felt that was extremely rude and disrespectful to judge our daughter or ourselves because of a problem they’ve had with a previous customer. If you don’t want children then post a sign! We have been to many other wineries all over the country and never had a problem. Needless to say we will not be back. We like to support family owned businesses like that but, we simply won’t there. Very disheartening.

I am glad there is a winery here in Concord. My parents stay real close to here. The owners are a husband and wife team who make all there wines on site. The husband is real friendly. The wine is also very good especially the Sweet and Seasonal Dessert wines. The one thing they don’t grow the grapes there because it is located in downtown Concord. They even have wine ice cream made by another company but I have to try it when I come back. Nice place!

Please don’t let the previous negative review keep you from visiting Cougar Run! They have the largest selection I’ve seen. The lemonade and limeade wines are like none other! Plus they have an amazing chocolate orange port that is perfect for Christmas time. Love this winery so much we bought a whole case, and will be for more wine soon! Great unique wines!

Woman was very rude and refused a tasting since my young daughter was with me. I have been to over 50 wineries in the state, and none have refused us because our children were present. Also, never has the staff at a winery been so short and rude. They will never get our business.
