Oak View has been great! I’m going to break down this review as best I can to give you an accurate assessment of Oak View Apartments. My wife and I have been here for 3 years. Property/Location: The property is a little older, but well taken care of. The landscaping crew is here once to twice a week and really try to take care of the surroundings. It’s nice compared to other apartments in the area and the property is usually very clean. There’s PLENTY of parking and the parking lot itself was recently resurfaced. There’s a school next door but you don’t hear much of anything from their lot. It’s quiet out here. Is this area as flashy as Walnut Creek? No. But it is a good area, quiet and has a lot of stuff nearby(A park, Chipotle, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Black Bear Diner, Walgreens, 2BART stations, plus bus access to BART). I only have two minor gripes: Keep in mind you are near a major street(Oak Grove), so if your unit is facing it, you will hear road noise. Also, while this is a pet-friendly property, your pets can’t use the lawn on the property.(Probably because kids play on it) So you will have to make a short walk across the street for your pet to do their business. But these are not«deal-breakers» in my book. Units: The units are VERY well taken care of. The maintenance staff has always answered my requests in a timely manner and are very good at communicating with you. We have a 1 bedroom renovated unit, and the appliances are really nice compared to what I even had at Archstone Walnut Creek: Digital Stove, detachable faucet spray, large dishwasher and a new good-sized fridge. Also, I almost never hear any of my neighbors around me.(YAY!) And there is a 24-hour noise ordinance, so if you like to party, look elsewhere. This complex is small so you will bump into everyone at some point. The big plus about the 1 bedrooms here is the fact that there is a ridiculously large amount of storage! You have a walk-in pantry, LOTS of cabinet storage in the kitchen, a coat closet, a large hallway closet and a wall-to-wall closet in the bedroom. LOVEIT! Washer/Dryer are not in the units, but the laundry room is really cheap and always clean. Your patio is small, but nice and BBQ grills(gas) are allowed.(This made me VERY happy!) Management: I have seen a few reviews on other websites that talk about the management being hit-or-miss. My personal experience with them has always been pleasant. There is a manager that lives on-site, so if you want to see her, you have to schedule an appointment. Totally understandable. But from what I’ve seen, a lot of people don’t read the sign outside her door. It states she LIVES and NOTWORKS on-site, and even gives a 24-hour number. Yet, people still are constantly banging on her door regarding tenant stuff. The fact she even answers them is nice.(Most live-on-site managers wouldn’t even answer the door at other properties) So when people post negative reviews on other sites, just be aware that at move in, they make this VERY clear with you. In the past at other apartment complexes, I have had both good and bad property managers. The people at Oak View are really good in my opinion and make an effort to address anything you bring up. Kudos to them. Overall rating: I have to say, this place has a lot going for it. It’s quiet, well-managed and much more affordable than what apartments go for in WC. I work in WC and it’s a mere 10 minute drive to downtown, even with traffic.

DONOTMOVEHERE! Or into Diablo View or Villa Diablo Apartments. It is the same corporate crooks that own it. WAY overpriced for what you get. They raise the rent every time your lease expires. If you’re month to month, the rent goes up every 6 months by $ 100! Plus you have to pay $ 100 per month on top of your PG&E for utilities. Constant dumpster diving tweekers, load busy streets and crazy parking restrictions are just a few of the things you’ll have to deal with if you move here. If you have a pet, you may think it’s great because of all of the grass around the area. Think again! You have to cross one of two crazy busy streets that don’t even have a crosswalk because having your dog go potty on the property is a lease violation(even if you clean it up)! The the main manager is nice but has no say on what goes on. The assistant manager is rude and short with you and acts like you’re wasting her time every time you talk with her. The laundry system SUCKS! Not enough machines and they use card readers instead of coins. If you live at Villa Diablo, you have to go a ¼ mile down the road just to add money to the card! And a lot of times you’ll get there and you can’t even add money to the card because the network is down! TERRIBLESYSTEM!!! This is a share holder company owned property and all that they care about is their profits! MOVESOMEWHEREELSE!
