I can’t speak for the other Unilocalers. but everytime I ordered from OK café. the food has always been good and satisfying… reminds me of my grandma’s old cantonese cooking! Yum! Anyways… love that they open till midnight for late night chinese food cravings and love that they deliver… Try the OK special buns… They are to die for!

Not a lot of places deliver in concord, but if you just can’t summon the strength to put on pants and leave the house, this is the best delivery option in town.

The name is appropriate the food is just ok. I was craving old fashioned salt and pepper shrimp. The delivery was fast but the food was not very good. I was disappointed.

The food is fitting with the name of this restaurant ok’ café, the food is definitely just okay. Reasonably priced for your average Chinese food. My biggest issue is that the delivery man rudely asks for a tip, this is the 3rd time he has asked. And I’m not going to give someone a tip when they just outright ask for it, you should really earn it with a quick delivery and hot food. I let it slide the first time and tipped him, but the 2nd and 3rd time asking is so disrespectful. Also, they always forget fortune cookies, do they even have any? Plus they give us 1 sweet and sour sauce and 1 hot mustard sauce, our food is servings to ¾ people so now sure why they are withholding sauces from a big family order.

I come here a few times a year for okay Chinese food. FOOD — 3.5*** — we ordered thousand year old egg pork porridge, wor wonton soup, and stir fried spinach. Porridge was okay, wonton soup was very full of wontons and other good stuff, spinach was a hefty portion. Would definitely come back for wonton soup cravings. RESTAURANT –2.5** — typical mom-pop Chinese food place. Nothing special. PRICE — 3.5*** — okay for what you pay for.

That moment you and your fiancé look up simultaneously after the first bite and realize Panda Express would’ve been a better choice. (Insert picture of two people who’ve clearly made a mistake) We’re staying home this weekend as the fiancé is sick and I’m fighting all the cold germs in the air, so it was a perfect night to order some take out. I’m not a big fan of take out since it always seems that in that magical delivery time, something always affects the food. Or perhaps something wasn’t cooked right because the restaurant wants to get the food to the customer as soon as possible? Anyways we ordered from this place through their Eat24 link and they seemed to have good reviews here and on the Eat24 website. So we ordered the salt n pepper calamari, seafood congee, and spicy chicken wings. With the exception of the congee, both the calamri and the chicken«wings» were too bready and too oily. The calamari was so bready and oily that we could only finish less than half the order together. The wings(which aren’t actually wings) were no better but less bready. We both ordered spicy, but it tasted so devoid of any spice that we wondered if they got our order mixed up. In short, the food was lifeless. On the plus side, the order arrived within a reasonable amount of time and the driver earned a nice tip for it and his politeness. Always a big plus when ordering take out. But I highly doubt we’ll be ordering from OK Café again. FYI, $ 20 order minimum(before tax)

I went here last night. It wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t too bad. The food isn’t that good, but still okay(ok). Not the best, but at the same time not the worst restaurant.

I was disappointed at the sudden decrease in quality in TWO of their dishes, thus, a new rating: 3.5 Stars over all(rounded off to 4) Food: 3 stars — Would we go back? Yes, definitely, though not as enthusiastically. DETAILS(please also see my previous review) A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I ordered our favorite dishes again, Eggplants in a clay pot; Stir fried beef broccoli, and a couple others. Disappointedly: — The hot pot was NOT piping hot as in our previous visits, and the eggplants were still SLIGHTLY on the raw side. The beef broccoli did not look or taste like stir fried, rather it tasted like cooked in boiling water, then added beef and sauce on top. And, it was NOT piping hot as before either! Sigh! In my PREVIOUS review, I praised highly their dishes for their flavor, texture, and for being piping hot bringing out the aroma, as well as for their consistency in quality. BUT, those two dishes this time were disappointedly subpar. The trusted consistency was not there. Thus, it pains me that I have to take away 1.5 star from my previous rating now. Hmm… They might have changed their chef? To be fair, however, their app BBQ pork buns, the entrée Salt and pepper tofu, and the complimentary soup were still super. Would we go back? — Yes, definitely. But, I’ll ASK the server to let the chef know BEFOREHAND that we want our dishes piping hot, eggplants better cooked, and broccoli STIR fried, not cooked in boiling water, i.e., as in our earlier visits. First time visit. Today’s free soup is hot and sour soup. While the soup is a little thin and not hot at all, the taste is otherwise authentic, and you can easily add pepper to make up for it. We ordered honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper pork chop, bean curd clay pot with 8 items, and fish slice porridge. Every item tasted great and came in big portions. Will definitely come back again.

Well, for the price I paid I’ll keep coming back. I ordered the Chicken Curry to go, which was just okay. The chicken had quite a bit of fat still on it, some of the onion chunks were the chewy outside part of the onion you shouldn’t use, and the sauce was a little on the bland side. Having said all that, I will definitely give this place another go when I want some cheap Chinese, walking distance from work.

Solid 4 stars for Chinese delivery. BBQ pork, beef chow mein, calamari, mongolian beef all are pretty good! I got the war won ton soup and the hot and soup and both are on par with good chinese. The chow fun is just ok. Their fried rice needs major help however, whoever is making it douses it in soy sauce! Fried rice any other place I go to it looks like an off white color, maybe a tan. This place is dark brown, almost black at times. As long you stay away from the fried rice here, this place is my go to Chinese spot, not because they are spectacular(Hunan on Clayton Rd. is!) but because they deliver!

Run, don’t walk, to this restaurant.(You could also drive or take public transportation, if that suits you better.) Maybe, it’s the location but this unassuming little restaurant has all the makings of a powerhouse. Since I’ve been back in California, I’ve run into a lot of fake Asian places. If I want Japanese food, I want Japanese people making the food, for example. I was quite literally chasing rainbows today when I passed this restaurant, and got a photo of a double rainbow with all the red in the sunset this Monday. I decided to return to give it a try. I need more fish. Navigation helped me find the restaurant again, not far from the skate park that I didn’t know was there. It’s in a small strip mall in front of a small shopping center. When I entered, I wasn’t sure what it was. It looked almost like an ice cream parlor when i entered. It was very casual. I went to the counter and the woman there suggested that I be seated. She brought a menu and hot tea. Being that it was only about 68 degrees F outside, hot tea didn’t seem wrong. Looking through the menu, I was relieved to see(Simplified) Chinese on the left side of every item. It’s often faster to determine what something is. They had quite a few fish dishes. I picked 椒鹽魚/Salt Pepper Fish Filet, which isn’t so difficult to find, but finding a place that does it well is important. At $ 8.95, I wondered if something was odd about it. Other places have charged me around $ 11.00 and then, charged me extra for steamed rice. Everything came to $ 10.62 when I paid the bill. It took a little while, but as I saw later, they were cooking their own meal, as it was past 8 p.m. I wonder if they eat at 3 p.m. also. I know that it’s not my business, but I would rather not interrupt them during what is probably a 15 hour day. When the woman brought the food to the table, she also brought an extra plate with«おいしい» written on it. She also brought me a good set of chopsticks. To say that the food was flavorful would be an understatement. This was the best 椒鹽魚 that I’ve had anywhere. The rice was good, also. I ate quite a bit. When I was preparing to leave, the woman got up from her meal to take care of me. When I was ready to pay, she got me a box and a bag. It’s not often I find people using their brains while working in restaurants. I’ll be glad to return, even though it’s out of my way, to try every traditional menu item.

Great little place with quick and easy menu to choose from. It at least does the job when you’re craving Chinese food! Unfortunately they no longer have dim sum, which was the reason i started coming here to begin with, and thus only three stars for getting rid of it :( Nice family owned place that’s open late!

Since we traveled all the way to Lafayette to go on a hike, we might as well eat somewhere relatively nearby right? Well I’ve been eyeing Ok Café for a while and it’s because I’ve seen the deep fried mantou filled bbq pork buns and it had to happen today. So we drove to Ok Café. It’s in the same plaza as El Molino… mm. chicharrones…no! Focus! So Ok Café is located in the front of the plaza and plenty of parking. We entered and well it was around 2:30-ish so it was a very late lunch, but we made it in time for the lunch specials which was pretty awesome since we were able to get the salt & pepper calamari with rice. In addition, we got the eggplant in garlic sauce and of course the OK Special buns. ~ Salt & Pepper Calamari ~ I liked how the calamari were in bite sized pieces and so the crunch to meat ratio was perfect. It was however quite oily, but overall good. ~ Eggplant in Garlic Sauce ~ It was like a braised eggplant so it’s not as mushy which is what I like! It was super oily though like REALLY oily. ~ OK Special Buns ~ You get 3 buns and in each you get a sprig of cilantro, two pieces of fried bbq pork and hoisin sauce. It was different, but was it mind blowing? No. It was good to try but I don’t think I would get it again. The service was quite friendly! The prices were pretty good for lunch since it was a lot of food. Overall not too bad.

I just finished having dinner here about 5 minutes ago and I have to admit that the food is better than just OK, as the name entails. I’m not sure what the gripe is with all the 1-star reviews, but this is pretty much a little hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant in the city of Concord, for goodness sakes! It’s not fancy Chinese food nor is it Oakland Chinatown so learn to set your expectations accordingly. I’m not big on Chinese food in general… especially when there’s a big sign that says«NOMSG!» I have a general of thumb regarding Asian restaurants that claim to be authentic, yet claims to not use MSG… it’s called bullshit! Whether they add MSG or not, it’s already in their soy sauce, oyster sauce, chicken marinade or whatever other pre-made store bought sauce they use in their recipes. Trust me! Now, moving on to their food… 1) OK meat bun: this reminds me of the Peking duck buns, except their buns are deep fried and they use charsiu pork instead of duck.(4 stars) 2) Black bean sauce beef chow fun: a little on the salty side, but still decent flavor and not overly greasy.(3 stars) 3) Seafood pan fried noodles: noodles were nice and crispy with a good combination of seafood and light on salt.(4 stars) 4) Pea sprouts in garlic sauce: my personal favorite. Perfectly cooked – maybe a little less salt would be great.(4 stars) 5) Pork spareribs with bitter melon in clay pot: honestly not my favorite dish. I’m not a bitter melon person, but as my mom always tells me bitter melon has medicinal value – whatever that means. The pork had way too much fat.(2 stars) They also gave us a bowl of complimentary house soup which was just ok. Service started off a little slow, but got a whole lot better after we placed our orders. There was only one other table when we showed up, but when we were ready to leave, the whole place was packed. I’m sure the place is family owned because they seem to know their customers pretty well. I’d come back if I were craving simple Chinese food and happened to be in the area, but I wouldn’t make an extra trip and come out of my way. Overall, I would give it 3.5 stars.

OK Café is so much more than just«OK». This small café on Monument Blvd., with a name that doesn’t quite do it justice, OK café delivers some of the tastiest Chinese food in Concord. I placed my order on Eat24 and was given a ETA of between 30 and 60 minutes. 20 minutes later the food is at my door. Even though I couldn’t fully understand what the delivery driver was saying, he said it with a smile and thanked me over and over again for ordering from them. Our order consisted of sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, pot stickers, and pork fried rice. Both the Mongolian beef and the sweet and sour chicken were spot on. The beef was flavorful with just a hint of spice plus a variety of vegetables made for an excellent dish. The sweet and sour chicken tasted amazing. Probably some of the best I’ve ever had, and of course came with it’s own posse of vegetables. Onions and bell pepper to be more specific. Both the pot stickers and the pork fried rice, though good, was definitely not up to par as the previous times. The flavor on the fried rice was still there. The pork was delicious and all the vegetables with it taste awesome. The rice was a little over done though, to the point where it was almost a little mushy. The pot stickers for me had the opposite problem. The filling tasted wonderful, but the dumpling itself tasted a little under done. So even with half of the meal not measuring up to the other half, why am I giving it four stars? Because I know sometimes restaurants have their not so great days. I also know that OK Café has excellent food and I can look past the hiccups, and look forward to more amazing food in the future.

Wait, that worker looks familiar… Could this be reincarnation of Lim’s Garden? Are those Chinese cooks in the back?!? OMG… It is. Thank you for opening this spot just a few blocks down of your old home. Great Chinese food, for the RIGHT prices. That is what we are looking for! Hong Kong Style pan fried noodles, and clay pot… Amazing… Clams with black bean sauce… Chili oil beef… Oh man, this szechuan and cantonese style cooking is awesome and as authentic as stateside Chinese food gets. Its located on Monument in little mexico(as was Lims) but this is across the liquor store, and the korean bbq joint. It shares the same lot with Monument Lanes. Stop in, its hot, the service is just like all Chinese establishments that prefer to serve Chinese people… and the water tastes super faucet-ish, but fuuuh, who cares when the food is that good and that cheap?

I came to OK Café for the first time on a Saturday night around 10pm. The good thing about this place is that they open so late, so it’s a good place for late night snacks. I ordered Hong Kong tea, garlic chicken wings and preserved eggs/chicken congee. The congee was enough to feed my friend and me. There was a good amount of chicken and preserved eggs. In face, I had chicken/eggs in every spoonful until maybe the last few scoops. I could also taste the grains of soupy rice in the congee. Although this dish was good for satisfying my rumbling tummy, there was nothing spectacular about it. The wings were interesting. They were chopped in half and then fried. My friend noticed it was undercooked and the cook understandingly took the dish back, fried the wings a little longer, and even threw in a few extra pieces :) However, the seasoning for the wings just downright tasted strange. I could barely taste the garlic and it also tasted nothing like wings you’d order at American restaurants(regardless of what flavor you order). Maybe it was the batter. The coating around the wings had bubbles and wasn’t always crispy. I would recommend them to people who want to try interesting, surprise-sesasoned wings. Overall, both dishes were filling, but the food was average. The café was clean and it also seemed like a popular place to order take out at night. It also seems to be the only one of its kind for several miles. I haven’t seen a café like this around here until Oakland Chinatown.

I don’t understand why this place calls themselves Ok Café but in some ways I am glad because it didn’t set my expectations too high. I went there for lunch on a Monday early afternoon.(This place should really call themselves, Tasty Chinese Food Ova Here Café.) Atmosphere: Definitely family owned eatry. Oddly placed photos of food, a very fobby and yet a very effective way of enticing Asians to try it like me. This place is super casual because it kinda looks like converted donut shop turned restaurant. Service: If you see an older lady, she is probably the owner and is very helpful. The service is super prompt. Food: We ordered the lunch specials. The cost is around $ 5 to $ 6 ish. The best deal eva. The portions are huge and the taste absoultely delcious! No bland flavors. The dishes are all greatly prepared. We ordered the Egg Beef Gravy over rice, Fried Pork Chops, Braised Fish & Tofu and String Bean Beef. Our family enjoyed every bit of it. Overall, don’t come here for the ambieance but you gotta come here for the flavorful dishes and large portions.
