Orchard Supply Hardware

I typically hold off writing reviews until I visit someplace a couple times. I’ve been through this store multiple times now. Each time the store was clean the staff was friendly and parking was beyond easy. This is my new go to place. The 5% mark up on some items is well worth having staff on hand and a clean overall good experience! 5 stars.

The peeps at OSH — Clayton are the best! I wanted to buy a special plant for my Dad for Father’s Day. But I live far away, and I had waited until the last minute. I don’t like using the“1−800″ type delivery sites because: 1) they charge a high premium; 2) the gift packages are cheesy and small; and 3) they wont guarantee to deliver exactly what’s in the picture on the website. So I called OSH to see what they could do. Ricky Acuña in the nursery texted me pictures of the actual plant I wanted, which was extremely helpful. He even offered to deliver it on his way home from work! Then he went and told me all the different types of greeting cards they had and helped me pick an appropriate one.
Hannah and Kate were also very helpful in getting the transaction done over the phone, which is not as easy as it seems!
The plant I bought was five times larger (literally) than the one I found on the generic delivery website, and with the greeting card and tax, it was still less money.
Buy local folks!

People make fun of Home Depot for lack of employees to assist you in your home improvements. Go to Orchard Supply Hardware and you get absolutely no assistance. I left and went to Ace Hardware on Clayton Road. In and out with what I needed with assistance in five minutes. It’s a waste of time at Orchard Supply Hardware.

They’re clueless. Don’t bother trying to order anything that they don’t have in stock. My order has been «pending» for four weeks now when it was supposed to be in within 5 – 8 business days. When I call the check, no one has any answers, I’m told I’ll get a call back that never happens; I could go on and on. In store, don’t bother asking the greater where anything is. The guys on the floor seem somewhat knowledgeable but talk down to me at times even though I know what I’m talking about. Although a convenient location for the Claycord area, I’d recommend making the drive to Lowes or Home Depot.
I tried them out again yesterday (because of the convenient location) and today I’m heading to Home Depot and changing my original two star rating to a one due to another bad experience.

Okay store. Staff is very inconsistent-​can be very helpful, can also be completely useless, bothersome and obnoxious. One particularly young staff member repeatedly harassed myself and my girlfriend about the need to post on social media about our «OSH Project». They seem to think the fact that we have chosen the closest hardware store to shop at means they’re personally involved in our home improvement projects-I’d like to be able to just buy what I need and leave, not give you free undeserved marketing. Can be fairly expensive but also has some great clearance prices.

Very nice staff and great customer service. Weather we are in there to buy something or to just look around, they are attentive to our needs!

Love this place! Sick of all the big box stores like Home Depot and lowes? Give orchard a try! Small town shop feel, large selection of items and the friendliest staff to help you with all your questions. No more big home improvement stores for me, I’m an orchard lifer!

Usually OSH supply stores are very friendly & I enjoy my experiences there. However, I would have given this particular store a 1 star considering how I was treated tonight by the cashier. It was almost as if she/​cashier was judging a book by the cover & insulted me about my form payment. I smiled & reassured her. Seconds later, I swiped my debit card & Of course my payment went through immediately & transaction was complete. So for her to assume that I couldn’t pay, upset me. But instead of making scene. I just smiled & walked out with my purchases & my head held high.
Then I decided to call the manager to tell her my experience & how shocked I was with the cashier’s treatment & unexpected comment of «will it even go through?». Thankfully, the manager was very understanding & reasonable. Her name was Laura & she apologize repeatedly. Laura reassured me that she would talk to the employee about her unexpected rude comment towards myself and when/​if I ever came back to look for her. I am not sure how much good that will do. However, we just bought a house in the neighborhood & are new to the area, with renovations in the near future, it seems the local hardware stores will become our second home. So «Maybe» I will take her up on her word, look for Laura and pay them a visit. Who knows, maybe my experience will be better the second time around. I do stress the word «MAYBE». Although the local Home Depot Store is looking kind of nice right now & might be our new trusted regular spot.

If you have a project around the house, aren’t a contractor, and are avoiding Home Depot because of their politics, then Orchard Supply is a good option.
I sometimes went into the Monument store to get stuff — not anymore, because they moved into the old Lucky in downtown Pleasant Hill. This store is out of my way, so I rarely go in here. I did yesterday, though, and was pleased at what I saw. One somewhat basic plumbing part I’m looking for is not at Lowe’s; Orchard Supply has it. They also have some other things that are needed around my house. And the prices are good, albeit a little higher than the big boxes.
Parents who are cleanliness fanatics with their children would say «ew» at the thought of going into a Home Depot. Not a problem at Orchard. Clean as the Safeway across the road. Friendly customer service staff. I can’t comment about their helpfulness, I try to find things on my own without taking up their time with questions that I can find the answers to myself. A big sign outside the store says that they’ll help with loading the big things into your car.
Check ‘em out.

This store is amazing. Not all workers share the same passion for work but most workers are enthusiastic. My family enjoys coming to this store.
Cassie, specifically, did an amazing job in helping us. We purchased a plethora amounts of furniture. But she was not intimidated. She came out quickly and efficiently and helped us carry each individual heavy package until everything was in the van. She says, «I know your mother paid a lot of money for these items. Having no one to help her load this stuff is ridiculous».
Morgan, however, showed bad customer service when helping us. He constantly kept encouraging us to leave the store due to it being close to closing time, 8:00. But I was there at 6:40.

All I know is that when I was shopping for Christmas lights the lady, upon entering the store, the Greeter, was helpful and cheerful, and fully OK with my taking pics with Life-​Sized Santa! She even took one for me with my camera, then pointed me in the right direction for the lights. Hey, details matter, the personal touch, and smiles do, too. The Holiday Season can be an unusual time of Downersville, and she helped brighten my spirit. So, Thank You, Madame Greeter. (I forgot her name. I apologize!)

If I could do minus stars I would. They have the absolutely worse customer service people around. Went in this morning to return an item and the person behind the counter rolled her eyes at me. Are you kidding me? When I asked her if there was a problem she said «I’m having a bad day». Then I suggest you get another job. As I told another employee in the store, I won’t step foot in there again. There are too many other hardware stores in the area that I can spend my money in.

Nice hardware store where you can get just about anything that you need. Small plants section and most of them are outdoor plants. Not a big indoor /​patio plant selection and not a great selection of items that go with them. I do love that they have small bags of soil, I don’t need a 50 pound bag for my house plants.

I took on the project of buying a plant. So I met George in the nursery. He made this such a wonderful experience! He was so incredibly kind, patient with me as I took forever to decide, and extremely knowledgable, I learned so much. He helped me decide on a plant, a pot, he gave me tips, potted the plant for me, and even helped me to my car. My 5 year old loved talking to him about pets. I felt so lucky to have met him and had his help. This store is very lucky to have him, as is anyone shopping there. He is as caring as they come, and I felt very well taken care of as a customer.

On June 20^th, I called to find out if they had a specific product. I was placed on hold, after waiting for 15 minutes — I hung up and called again. This time I explained what previously happened and again was placed on hold. I hung up after waiting 10 minutes.
Later that day I happened to pass by an Orchard and went in. I found out that they only carried 1 of the items needed and tried to get me to purchase another product to use with it. I informed the sales person that the directions clearly states ‘not to be used with other manufacturers products.

I came to this Orchard Supply Hardware location in Clayton/​Concord one weekend on a busy Sunday afternoon. Coming from the North Bay this location is a trek from the freeway! But it’s located in a larger shopping center with a bunch of other stores and restaurants which is nice.
This particular store also is one of the new format stores because it was recently remodeled. This is what I like most! They have plenty of things which you wouldn’t normally find at a hardware store like small storage containers, kitchen supplies, aisles of cleaning products and old tyme candy/​soda. Oh, did I also mention that they have a whole half an aisle dedicated to different colors and designs of tape?! Cool.
The garden center at this location is another plus. It is very large (I think the store used to be an old Yardbirds… RIP) so it has more of a plant and outdoor selection then some of the smaller older locations. They also have one of the best indoor plant selections I have seen which is normally neglected at other stores.
My favorite part about this location is the ease that I have locating items inside the store. Unlike Home Depot and Lowes where I am dodging large lumber carts, forklifts and endless displays, Orchard Supply is actually a place where I want to hang around and browse. I like to look around for a bit and see what treasures I can find. The store is clean, the employees are friendly, and everything is organized in an ascetically pleasing manner. Reminds me of Target for the home improvement crowd.

I don’t know what happen to this location but what ever is going on keep up the great job !! They are helpful and go out of there way to answer all my questions. This is my new hardware location.

Clean, well kept store. I like the design of it. Not the cheapest prices but its close and convenient so that’s worth something.

This is pretty much our go-​to hardware store, and were pretty satisfied with them for the most.
We have gotten a handful of home repair and home necessity goods since purchasing our townhome nearby in January, and despite their more pricey labels, we have not encountered any problems yet, with anything we have purchased from them.
The store is always immaculately clean and well organized. Service is usually a hit and miss. Not as personable and warm as Home Depot, though still decent.
Quality is mostly what I have encountered with anything we have purchased here-​definitely no complaints there.
It also happens to be the closest hardware store within distance to us, leaving them a little more fortunate to gather our business.
They also have a great garden section with an excellent selection of water fountains and garden enhancements. ect. Unfortunately, they just happened to sell out of one of the fountain’s we wanted: (
So, until something drastically changes, we will probably keep this as our go-​to home repair store, when those WONDERFUL home repairs and garden necessity’s come up.

I was there this afternoon! I was looking for some small pots where I could transplant what I’m growing at home. I didn’t find the size I was looking for but I did find some tiny little pots.
They are extremely adorable, and they are useful for people that like to grow plants on any time of year since you can keep them inside the house.
The staff was nice when I arrived to the store a lady greet me, and she asked me if I needed help finding anything. She showed me where the gardening supplies where located at the store. The cashier was also friendly and nice to my mom and me. I been there before, and the staff has been nice to us so I think I’ve been lucky ^^
(Just remember some times we have bad days, and it’s hard to chance your attitude… In the other hand it’s sad to hear some people keep trying to receive good service but they always have troubles: c)
