So this review is for the many cheese zombies I have purchased at the Concord Todo Santos Farmers Market. First I would like to say that I attended some school years in the MDUSD. That being said I have had my share of cheese zombies growing up. The kiddo and I were strolling one day at the Farmers Market and saw the Tasty Zombies tent and went and bought 2 cheese zombies. Chatting to the owner he let me know they had other combos. WHAT?! I left with 6 zombies for the family and they were gobbled up. The following week I was back and left with too many zombies than I would like to admit to. My faves are of course plain cheese, chicken pesto. My daughter loves the bacon ranch one. My son loves the ham and cheese. They are bigger than the ones I bought at the snack shack in middle school and HS. Each are $ 6 but it’s pretty much a meal. I pretty much can not come home if the family knows I was at this farmers market without cheese zombies. Try them out next time your at the Concord Todo Santos Farmers Market!

A farmers market staple for our kids. Besides the standard breakfast, cheese, and cheeseburger they also rotate new combinations ranging from chicken enchilada to thanksgiving style with turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberries. Friendly service and tasty zombies!

I had my first tasty zombie at the walnut creek farmers market. Breakfast zombie, with chorizo and siracha, heaven in a bun, right? Not so much. Served lukewarm, the only texture was from undercooked onions, and bland. Where was the Siracha? It wasn’t BAD, but is it worth five bucks? I don’t think so. It’s wrapped and handed to the customer, so the obvious intention is for it to be street food, walk and eat, so how about giving me a napkin?

Had an order of the Cheese Zombie($ 3): fresh-baked bread encasing melted mild cheddar cheese. Food was delicious, staff was fair, and the ambiance was festive.

So this one time, ~10 years ago, I was at a friend’s baby shower and I met a woman who worked for MDUSD’s Food Services Department and she was one of the people who made cheese zombies. Eeeeee! It was like meeting a celebrity. Ranks right up there with meeting Jason Priestley.(I loved the 90s!) Fast forward a few years and needless to say, I was pretty excited to see Tasty Zombies at the Craft Beer Festival in Martinez. My honey and I started with a round of cheese zombies($ 3/each) which were perfectly warmed, with a nice, slightly crisp outside and soft, gooey center. Later, we returned for a round of spicy sausage zombies($ 5/each). Don’t get me wrong, they were still tasty but I’m a bit of a zombie purist. I’ll stick to the classic.

Tasty Zombies didn’t have much to offer at the end of the day: just a breakfast zom or chicken zom(both $ 5) was told breakfast one tasty. Nope. it was just spicy. locale: walnut creek farmers market(1⁄19) breakfast zombie(5) –big bun with bits of chorizo, cheese, spiciness and ?, hardly any filling, not a value at all. taste mosty cheese, spiciness and bun –Pattie’s zombies much better value. crumbs: poor value-2 stars. –buy 5, get i free.

I heart zombies. There is nothing better than a warm buttery roll filled with cheesy goodness. Congratulations on your ever expanding business & I look forward to you bringing 300 zombies to my wedding next year! :)

I wish I would’ve thought of this first! The one thing that most of us who graduated from the MDUSD crave is the infamous Cheese Zombie… the oozing cheese out of the warm soft buttery bread… yummersss. They’re a little pricey at $ 3 a pop for the regular cheese zombie but the price to pay for a little nostalgia. They even offer some«gourmet flavors» such as a pizza one, and a veggie one that has mushrooms and spinach for $ 5. The zombies are kept warm in portable ovens and come out nice and warm. They also have Mission Dogs, which is probably the bacon wrapped hot dogs you can smell when you walk out of the clubs in San Francisco.
