Hope springs eternal. Over these next few weeks all MLB teams will have their Opening Day. Everyone is optimistic and everyone has a chance for October baseball. Some early favorites are probably the Dodgers(with their Yankee-like payroll), the San Diego Padres and the Washington Nationals. With the added round of Wild Card Playoffs, the magic number seems to be around 88 wins. In the three years having the second round of wildcard games 30 of 33 teams with that many wins have made the post season. Does it dilute things? Possibly, but it does create interest in cities that had never thought their team would ever have a chance to get into the World Series. The dark horses for me look like both teams from Chicago. The Cubs with their great farm system and the White Sox with their Off Season acquisitions. Someone will eventually emerge and be the darling of 2015. Just like last years Kansas City Royals. Even last years champs the Giants were a last to first team. Welcome back Boys of Summer. For someone who is a kid at heart and lives in the Northeast you have been sorely missed.
