Coney Island On Tap

Held at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, this beer event showcased over one hundred releases from sixty craft breweries around the country. In addition to sampling beers and snacking on classic baseball stadium foods, including the Nathan’s Famous hot dog, you can also enjoy the lively atmosphere filled with live music and an amazing view of the Coney Island Boardwalk.

Was in for the 1 – 4 pm session. Weather was great. Venue was at the Coney Island baseball stadium with the different taps located inside along the stands. Decent amount of breweries each with two selections to sample. Some had kegs on tap while others opened bottles and cans. Pretty much a nonexistent waiting line for beer unlike other beer festivals I’ve been to in the past. Even Unilocal was there with a photobooth and giving away free swag. Souvenir glass was a decent size and were being filled a decent amount. Food was being sold but prices were jacked up. You can get a Nathan’s Coney Island hot dog for much cheaper two blocks down if you eat prior to arrival. Overall great time. Would definitely go again. Was able to get tickets through living social.

Bravo guys! This was a great craft beer festival. It was not over crowded, nicely shaded and lots of excellent local and not so local craft beers. Best of all, you could not beat the price with a living social deal. Would love to come back next year!

Awesome. I’m guessing this is the first time they’ve had it, but I found out about it via Living Social. They had a lot of beer variety, and with unlimited sampling, ’twas a great deal.
Two reasons why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5:
— The «souvenir tasting glass» was plastic :(I understand you don’t want glass being broken, but… then don’t advertise it as glass.
— Not that many porters or stouts.
What saved you:
— But YAY — one of the pretty cute Unilocal staff/​volunteers on hand was super nice and gave a nifty bottle opener even after I said I couldn’t check-​in b/​c I did not have a data plan. Well, that made a good-​enough impression that I took the time to do it now.
— Not too crowded for the 1 – 4 slot and my friends and I had a great time.

I went there with my boyfriend who is a big fan of beer and his coworkers. This review is combination of my opinion and my boyfriend’s opinion.
For me, this is the first beer tasting event. I was surprised how many brewers and different kind of beers were in this event. Although I went to this event, I am not a big beer fan. However, there are some beers I was able to enjoy. I was impressed how deep the world of beer is.
We bought a VIP tickets which allowed us to go to the roof top of the stadium which has a nice view of Coney Island. Also, beers which weren’t served on the regular event floor were served. The view from rooftop was very nice. My boyfriend wasn’t satisfied with the selection of beers there. Actually there were not so many beers on the rooftop. We tried every beer and left the VIP are pretty soon. My boyfriend thought it didn’t worth paying extra money for the VIP access. The good thing about the VIP tickets was that it include $ 10 food voucher.
My boyfriend has been many beer tasting event, but he liked the fact that in this event, we didn’t have to wait in a long line to try each beer. There was no line in front of each brewers table. At the maximum only 2 people were waiting in front of me. So we were able to try one after another very efficiently. There were so many beer that we weren’t able to try everything.
The venue was by the shore and pretty windy. Even thought it is a middle of the summer, it became chilly. So. If there is another beer tasting event her, and you are interested in going, please don’t forget to bring a jacket or sweater you can wear.

I enjoyed myself at this beer fest.
I was here for both sessions (1pm-​4pm) & (5pm-​8pm). Of course, I was also working pouring everyone these delicious beers.
I guess you could say it was the best of both worlds.
I got to taste ALMOST everything.
I found some new beers or at least beers I haven’t heard of like Original Sin Apple Cider & Cherry Cider which I loved.
I finally tried the Ten Ruin (96% approval on beer advocate). That’s that high end shyt folks.
I had all the Lagunitas that I could possibly want and more. Thanks to the beer reps for Lagunitas that I was assigned to. Cool folks.
I’m not an IPA guy but that Lagunita A Lil’ Sumptin Sumptin is what I’d ordered at the bar on TAP.
Everyone was having a good time.
The ladies was looking delicious and the men was looking drunk.
This is exactly how I expect it to be in most regards.
I did however had to dock a star for the food even though I ate with my free vouchers for working.
The chicken breasts and fries ($ 8) at the main concession within MCU Park was good but the sauces was like manhandled by all these drunk folks meaning folks like me just simply opted to eat it without sauce.
That would have been fine except well, when is the last time you had chicken breast by itself dry?
Secondly, the Premio Sausage tent had these amazing smelling sausage. When I went to order and brought the food back to my station the sausage was dead COLD.
Now, I saw the spanish dude grill in on the stove briefly, the outside of the sausage was charcoaled black so I know it’s cooked, but wtf happened to warming it up?
The taste was another thing, definitely NOT better than it smelled.
Should have used the vouchers for a tee-​shirt.
But overall this was a wonderful beer festival.
I look forward to this next year.
