This park is one of the crown jewels of the Jefferson County Open Space system. Hiking trails start in earnest right by the parking lot(rather than having to walk a long way before starting to climb), the main trail loop does not double back on itself, and the view from the top is absolutely fantastic. Very few human structures are visible from the trails, and you quickly get away from the road so you feel like you’re in the wilderness. There is a decent amount of tree shade covering much of the trail system. The main trail loop is only moderately steep. The only seasonal drawback is that there are quite a few(very narrow) stream crossings, which can be annoying in winter if the water is frozen.
