The world needs more places link Fenian’s Irish Pub! Sadly, after 28 years the bar has been sold and is no longer Fenian’s Irish Pub. I write this review in memory of some of the best times I ever had at one of the friendliest bar’s I’ve ever been in. I’ve been to Fenian’s several times over the span of my life. They were one of the only true authentic Irish pubs around and the history in the walls speaks to you. The owner, Terry was beyond generous, one of the nicest people I will ever met. Of the beaten path in located in the small town of Conklin Michigan, Fenian’s was always a popular stopping point for bicyclist and motorcyclist alike. They also hosted several trips to Ireland, organizing the whole trip and the tour abroad. A great place for a quick authentic Irish stout. The served both Guinness and Beamish stouts, Harp and Smithwicks Ale. They pulled off one of the best black and tans to be had. Their selection in Irish whiskey was also top notch. Anything Irish and pure, they more than likely had it. The food was always very good, made fresh to order right in back behind the bar. Their fish n’ chips were some of the best around, seasoned perfectly and dashed with malt vinegar. They had excellent burgers and other typical Irish and American fare. Authentic Irish bands came in from around the world to play here. Every Wednesday they hosted a community play and sing along. It always packed the house. Everyone inside felt like they were one big happy family. Strangers no longer were strange and everyone was comfortable with everyone around. Conversations and good time’s flowed. I am truly fortunate I was able to experience one of the best and truly authentic Irish bars in the Grand Rapids area. They may not still be in business today but they will always be alive in the memories of those that walked the floors and celebrated life.

seriously, no stars but i don’t want to ruin business since this could be a great place. we’ve been here over the years and it always smelled bad, but i was hoping since it’s been a couple years that someone would have told the owners so they would have bleached out the mold and mildew… but no one has told them yet. the cleaner they use even smells bad. it’s hard to eat when you’re trying not to breathe. their burgers in previous years were good, but i just had fish(a slight sliver of cod) and chips(fried to death shoestring potatoes) and had to touch the vinegar bottle which was so gross and the cheap ketchup comes in little packets so it’s hard to save your fries with it. it’s really awful, but please save this place. it’s unique and they play irish songs there and occasionally have irish bands. i hope they will eventually fix it-it’s very expensive for what you get($ 9.99 for 2 slivers of fried barely there fish?! and $ 35 to get in when band is there). the town, conklin, is less than one block long-there’s a nice little old fashioned store down the street that sells ice cream cones-cute.
