Okay, it’s a Chinese buffet. Everything is pretty much the same no matter where you go — tinny music, paintings of cranes, neon sweet and sour sauce, and desserts that look delicious but taste like a phonebook cut into tiny squares and slathered in icing. The difference between this buffet and others is, at least to the public eye, the place is spotless and the food stays fresh. The people who work here, while not particularly friendly, are always wiping up spills and replacing mostly-empty pans of food with fresh ones. This makes the quality of buffet staples like fried rice, beef and broccoli and pork lo mein higher than similar places I’ve been. It’s still MSG-laden and predictable, but better than your average buffet. I only go here maybe once or twice a year, but the upkeep remains consistent and the same owners are there from year to year. So that’s good. Even great, one might say.

Lots of people eating there tonight. The food was hot and fresh! The only issue was waiting on clean spoons for soup!
