My husband and I were really looking forward to nice evening and meal when we decided to have dinner at Twelve Pines in Conover. As we entered the restaurant there was no one to tell us if we should seat ourselves or wait for someone to seat us. There were at least 4 empty table available. I did go up to the bartender and asked if we should just seat ourselves and he said take the corner table in the back dining room, which we did. It did take some time for us to get our waitress to come take our drink order and I we also grabbed some menus from one of the other empty tables. The place did not seem all that busy, but it appears they may have been short staff regarding the servers. Once we did order our food, it took them a good 20 to 25 minutes to bring our order, which was a burger and the perch fish fry special. I ordered my burger medium and it was black and crusty burnt, I ate some of it thinking maybe it was just around the edges of it, but when I deconstructed the burger, it was black on the entire bottom. The perch fish fry was very disappointing as well. The pieces of fish were so small and the batter was twice the size of the fish, so if you like more breading then fish, you may like this. Also the server never came back to ask if everything was ok, so we were not able to mention that burger was burnt, until she noticed we stopped eating and was on her way over with to-go container and then I was able to tell her my burger was burnt and she immediately took our plates with more than half our dinners on them yet. She came back with our bill and for a burnt dinner, she gave us two free beers, but we still had to pay for the burnt burger! This was all-around disappointing evening at the Twelve Pines in Conover.

I will have to try the burger. I consider it the best fried chicken ever. The prime rib and the rib eyes are also the best I have ever experienced up here. The baked potatoes are awesome too. Don’t miss this place.

The ¾ lb burger was awesome– nothing like that amount of meat garnished with 2 slices of cheese and 4 pcs of bacon. My heart actual stopped beating at one point and whispered«thank you».

Unexpectedly, this was quite possibly the best cheeseburger I have ever had in my life. They offer up a whopping ¾ lb burger grilled perfectly on a soft bun with whatever you want on it. I don’t think I have ever had a ¾ lb burger before but this was was fantastic. Overall this is your typical north woods bar with lots of TV’s locals telling stories and getting hammered and a super friendly owner that runs the place with his wife. They have lots of stuff on their menu but the burgers are what you need to get here. We were here passing through on a snowmobile trip and sort of fell into the place. I would go here again anytime.
