Canada’s Hole In The Wall Grill

Great Southern/​Soul food. I feel lucky this is about a mile from home. Chicken fried chicken, cabbage, and mashed potatoes were just like Grandma used to make. Wow!

I have read the other reviews and I don’t see it. There is a male waiter there but no way does he look like a hillbilly. Yes the painting of the walls need to be finished but let’s get real. How many of us go out to eat to a place because it’s pretty? Canada’s hole in the wall has had a big change a few weeks ago. The food is still homemade and cooked to order. So IF you think your getting fast food your not. And come on I have even had them deliver to my house. How great is that to get delivery of fried fish and also chicken fried steak. I say everyone will have an opinion and this is mine. I will continue to eat there.

I heard that the reviews for this place were good in the local paper and thought I would give it a shot. It is in the same place as Dixie’s was at. The service was so-​so. Took a long time to bring anything to the table. The building is about the same as it was. Run down. The food had very little flavor. I had the grilled shrimp. They actually did have some spice to them. The sides had no flavor. My co-​worker ordered grilled pork chops. The pork chops were so over cooked and dried out that she was having trouble cutting them with a knife. At one point a large section of her pork chop flew off her plate onto the table as she was trying to cut it. I was looking at the other people’s plates as they arrived. I did not see anything that caught my eye. The prices have gone up some. The building is still run down and the staff is still running around with their shirts untucked in clothes that we would paint a house in. Our server was friendly, just not that prompt. They do have a drive thru window now. I may give it a couple of months and give them another shot. They are certainly not the best Cajun food in Conroe. My last insult here is that Unilocal is going to probably tag me as the Duke of this place because there are no other reviews. Someone please visit this place twice and take this wonderful status symbol away from me.
