Carol’s Lighting

All of my customers and I have been doing business with Carol’s Lighting for the past 30 years. Their sales teams product knowledge as well as their unquestionable warranty is what puts them ahead of the rest looking forward to the next 30 years.

Well, I’m not sure what it takes to get someone to acknowledge you in this shop. I may have looked a bit casual, but my wife didn’t. She was wonderfully dressed, as always. We walked in ready to buy. It took us 3 minutes to choose our lamp, a Tiffany knock-​off for around $ 300. I mulled around the counter, but it didn’t matter where I stood or gestured, I was ignored. It would have been comical if I hadn’t driven 45 minutes to visit this particular shop. It only took a glance from my wife across the room to understand we were leaving. We went elsewhere and spent $ 2k. All that sparkles is not gold.

I would like to give 5 stars to the ONLY sales person at Carol’s in 17 years, who is knowledgeable, patient, helpful and very nice and personable. In all the years I’ve been «trying» to patronize this store, I’ve always walked away hoping I don’t have to go back any time soon. Jamie is new at Carols and she made my shopping enjoyable. She let me take a couple of books home, asked to help me, when another woman walked right past me and asked a couple who had just arrived if they needed help (I’d been waiting for 10 minutes.) The minute Jamie came into the room, she asked if she could help me. Anyway, this store has always been a little stuffy and sales people not overly nice. When I ask for out-​of the-​ordinary but needed lighting supplies, I’ve twice been answered with a cold, «no.» (a glass replacement shade for a pendant light, an odd light bulb.) No offer to help me UNLESS I had bought the fixture through them. It was an original fixture and was there when I bought the house. etc. etc. Just not helpful, EXCEPT FOR JAMIE!

Terrible customer service!!! Walked the whole store and no employees greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. Little did they know someone could have made a nice commission today. They will never get my service or recommendation.

This store is really surprising — it seems HUGE inside and the selection is almost mind-​numbing. Prices vary from some bargains, some good deals all the way to «you must be kidding me». That said the choice is great, the service excellent — I will definitely be back!

If you need a hanging, wall mounted or any other type of light, this place either has it in stock or can get it. Their selection of indoor and outdoor lighting is impressive. The selection of table and floor lamps is not as impressive but they can order from a selection of thousands, which you can browse on their website.
