After visiting with family, we chose to stop at the China Buffet before heading to San Antonio. The staff was friendly and attentive, but that’s about all I can say that’s positive. The food was cold, except for the sweet and sour chicken. The crab rangoons were very chewy and apparently they prepare them in the dining room(they started making them at the table behind us). I don’t like cold, chewy food so I wouldn’t return next time I’m in the area.

Lived in Conroe for a few years(am now in The Woodlands) and used to eat at China Buffet often. After a couple other buffets opened up, I divided my patronage between them all. Thought I’d already done a Unilocal review on China Buffet, but seemingly not. If I had done so, let’s say about five years ago I’d probably have given four stars. But, slowly but surely, things have declined there, sad to say.(I don’t know how many restaurants are in this chain, but they also have one in Jackson, Mississippi where I also used to live. The China Buffet there was the best one in the city for many years.) I’ve still been going there, thought not so often now, but the last four or five times I could really tell something was going wrong. Now, though sushi is not really Chinese, it seems all the Chinese buffets have gotten on that band wagon, and I love sushi, even Chinese buffet-style…if it’s good. China Buffet used to have great sushi every night at dinner. Then it became only on the weekends. I was there about three Sundays ago, and there was hardly any«good» sushi at all. During the hour and a half I was there, no fresh sushi was brought out. There was no tuna, no salmon, no eel. I asked the waiter, he seemed confused, he talked to the manager, that was the end of it. No one came to my table to explain anything. When leaving, I talked with the manager, reminded him I’d been a pretty regular customer over the years, but was not planning to return, and explained why. He hemmed and hawed and made weak excuses and made no indication they would try to improve things. I told him I felt ripped off for having to pay for the Sunday price, but got to eat just the normal stuff I could have at weekday lunch. «Good business» would have been to offer to let me pay a lunch price, but no, it didn’t even dawn on him. Anyway, as I say, this review is done with a bit of sadness. And, by the way, one of my criteria for whether I will frequent a particular Chinese restaurant or buffet is the hot and sour soup. China Buffet’s used to be really great, but even that is now barely acceptable.

Me and my boyfriend decided to try a new place to eat and saw this place. There wasn’t much for food selection and some of the food needed to be refilled and looked like it had been there for quite a while. The booths were to crowded together. The service was good but the food wasn’t. We didn’t eat much because we didn’t like the food much. The bathroom was a huge mess and we don’t plan on going back at all. it was not a good experience for either one of us.

Love this place!!! Small selection but all the food is fresh and tasty. The sushi is fresh and delicious. They cook the food in small batches so it is always fresh. Overall a great Chinese buffet

In a word, disgusting. Sushi made with canned tuna and jello that tasted more like fish than the actual fish did. Sadly, the best thing here is the soft-serve ice cream. You’re better off going to Panda Express.

What can I say, it’s Chinese. Food was decent but wasn’t a wide assortment of food to choose from. Wouldn’t recommend to a Friend.

I just had lunch there. Not so good. By the time you got through the breading of things like General Tso chicken, there was maybe a nickel sized piece of chicken there. The food was bland, and really greasy. That was the Buffet. I have not, nor can I foresee in the future, ordered from the menu.

The service was good. The place was clean but the food was unhealthy with ample amounts of MSG. The sushi was chewy from sitting around for hours and where are the tops to keep the soup warm? People’s misguiding reviews and rating is more telling of the people versus the restaurant. You’re willing to eat mediocre trash as long as it is flavored well. Silly me to believe twits from Conroe would actually know good food from a dead rat in sweet n sour sauce. Puh. And the fruits, veggies and desserts were laughable. No thanks. I loved my tall cup of ice lemonade though.

Fill up or get some to go. This is a Chinese food buffet. The restaurant’s name says it all but the food here is as Chinese as Olive Garden is Italian. That is to say, it is Chinese but altered to suit Western tastes.

Wow! Let me start off by saying I called in a order to pick up. I’m staying in Conroe for work and thought it would just be easier to come pick something up and bring it back to my hotel. I am super impressed! The order took less than 10 minutes to be ready AND it only cost me $ 10 and some change! The portions for what I paid for are outrageous! I ordered an order of steamed dumplings and one order of vegetable lo mein. I received 10 dumplings and roughly a pint of veggie lo mein. I was stoked! This meal could have easier fed three people, maybe four if one of those people chose to eat more lo mein over dumplings. If I don’t have left overs tomorrow night, I will definitely be calling them up again to order another take out meal. I wouldn’t even try anywhere else! The dumplings are wonderful, the veggie lo mein was delicious! Not too oily. And they gave me a little side of dumpling sauce. Way to go China Buffet! Did I mention the workers were nice, too?

China Buffet appears to be very clean which is good for any restaurant and the service was good. Lacking is the taste of food. I only went once and have no desire to return.

This buffet was not as bad as others I have been to. I am not a fan of buffets any only go to please my partner. I was able to find a few things to eat and like the egg drop soup. I felt that the sushi looked old and the food had been over-cooked or left out too long. I don’t know if I will go again.

Always come here for my Chinese take out. Their chicken lo mein and beef with broccoli is to die for. Always fresh. Take out at least.
