Make sure you get a walk-through when moving in and out, to document existing damages when you move in, and when you move out. It’s not fun to receive a call from a bill collector 4 months after moving out saying you owe $ 800 for water damage on the granite countertops(that were there when you moved in) and a stain in the bedroom that most certainly did NOT exist. Our hot water heater would go out probably twice a month, leaving us to take cold showers for two days. Things look nice on the outside but shortly after moving in we realized that things were built very cheaply and were not long lasting. For example our toilet paper holder was practically glued onto the wall and would fall off and the pieces scatter if you just touch it in the wrong spot, leaving me to try to find all the pieces while I’m sitting on the toilet. Just cheap shortcuts that really aren’t necessary. How hard is it to properly install a toilet paper holder? The kitchen also looks nice on the outside but I realized they very sneakily installed very shallow cabinets to save space and make it look much bigger than it actually is. I could not even fit my cookie sheets(and other kitchen utensils) inside the cabinets. I had to find alternative places to store several kitchen tools, which was super annoying. Not only are the cabinets freakishly shallow, but they(like many other things in the apartment) are super cheap, crappy quality. The PAPER that makes them look like wood was peeling off in several places. *sigh* I’m not saying the place was a terrible place to live. There were no bugs, there are some OK amenities and the staff is also very friendly. I am just saying don’t be fooled by a very average, cheaply made apartment masquerading as a «high end» place. And get check-in /walk-out appointments for SURE to avoid very questionable charges later. (p.s. the bill collector we spoke with to pay our bill informed us that these mysterious(fake) charges happen ALLTHETIME in Texas. For some reason it’s a habit of most of these types of apartments in the area to take advantage of people. If you don’t ask for a walk-through, they can write up and charge you for whatever they want!)
