So when you move from the Rocky Mountain Region the bar is set pretty high. I’ve been on this trail a few times and the first time I came I was like, «Wow, look at a all these pine trees, and there’s a little brown lake and picnic tables and… Swarms of mosquitos… Great Dane Droppings. watch where you step! Mud…if you come after it rains… and it rains here. Short little flat trails… Snakes…watch where you step that’s not a stick! No mountains or hills…(duh) and the worse part is they’re building some apartments right next to the forest! Is any place sacred? So much for peace and quiet on your nature excursion. The hiking snob has spoken. However, since there is hardly anything to do out in this neck of the woods and if you’re dying for some«outdoor activity» in the burbs… come here, but honestly, I use to do a lot of mountain bike riding and these trails seem suitable for that sport-especially if you want to avoid snakes. And people pick up after your doggy! Maybe I missed something or went down the wrong trail? There is another trail that starts off College Park, so that will be next«adventure».

When you’re going down 1488, toward i45, turn in to the parking lot on the right. The parking lot isn’t huge, so get there early if it’s a nice day! There’s a pretty pond as you enter the forest, and a few nice bridges over some peaceful streams. Upon entrance and exit, this area had people just hanging out with their pups, seems like a nice way to spend a day to me. We ‘hiked’ through the trails a bit and enjoyed exploring. There are a few ponds and whatnot throughout it, and the trees provide a scenic and beautiful shade. The paths are not paved, but still well kept after, so no issue at all. It’s really cool to feel like you’re in the country, somewhere so rustic and beautiful, so close to the big H-Town. My ONLY warning is, there are NO trashcans in the park, so ‘pack it in, and pack it out.’(This was slightly annoying for picking up after your dog, but you gotta do what you gotta do!)
