Very LOUDLOUDLOUD!!! Prepare for tinnitus and a horse voice after Guppy’s in Conshy! It’s very very LOUD! We went for food and it was really good, but difficult to taste over the noise! The service was attentive, but hard to order over the noise of other people talking so loudly at nearby tables. Nothing unusual was going on to make Guppy’s noisier than usual, no screaming matches or loud music, just loud environment! I can’t even say where all the noise was coming from, just that it’s definitely the loudest bar in Conshohocken! Tough to socialize in such a noisy environment! If you’re looking for a great bar to hang out with friends, but you don’t want to actually hear your friends for whatever reason Guppy’s is your place!!!

Great beer selection. We went on a Sunday when it first opened. I had the cheesesteak which was quite tasty. My husband had the chicken club which was so large, he brought half of it home(and that never happens LOL!). Good local place. We are going to try it for dinner soon and I will supplement this review at that time.

So tonight was my first time at Guppy’s. It’s a pretty cool local bar. My buddy is from Conshy and was always talking about how good this place was, tonight we decided to try it. First is the service. The bartenders were very nice and the service was fast. We arrived on a Saturday around 7pm so it wasn’t too busy. I ordered the honey hot wings, they were good. The wings were cooked well and the sauce was good. After eating four wings, I noticed a small hair. After that I was done. My better half ordered the chicken club. It was supposed to come on an «artisan» bread. It did not! Plain old white toast, the bacon was cold as well. The chicken they use is house breaded, that was the only good thing. The fries were house cut and decent. Food wise it was just blah, they also do sushi but that’s just strange. As far as beer selection it is very good. They have various IPA. The conshy crush was very very good. Around 9pm they had some live music and the guy was good, but it got very loud. All in all I would go back to drink and listen to music, but stay away from food. 2 stars

I work a couple of blocks away and went there a few weeks ago thinking I was going to get wings(self-admitted wing whore). Anyway, I walk in with a coworker and we see a sushi bar in the back. Plans change. We were like sushi at Guppy’s… what the fuck, why not? So this review is mostly all about sushi/lunchtime hours. The space is medium sized and well lit with a good bit of natural light. Seating has never been an issue. The service is decent and the staff are very nice & accommodating. That said, a neighborhood bar is typically not the first place that comes to mind for sushi. It’s really good though, and the gentleman making it is cool as shit. He told us today that he started making sushi when he was 27. He started in Japan(think he said 30 years there) and has like 20 years here in the states. The prices are typical for solid sushi and the sashimi are friggin’ slabs of flesh… seriously the thickest pieces of sashimi I’ve ever been served. They have a decent beer list. I didn’t really look it over real hard… because Jameson… but pretty sure it was nearly all domestic craft brew. The sushi bar is open for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. Tuesday evening are a BOGO roll special. That’s about all I remember… anyway, solid sushi in Conshy, it’s here.

This use to be the best bar in town. The food was always normal bar food. You shouldn’t expect more. But the patrons and bartenders use to be top notch. I don’t know what happened in town; however, this bar is struggling. They have hired a trashy dude with Tattoos on his hands and arms to be their Sunday night tender. The tattoos aren’t the problem. I just wanted the owner to know who I spoke of. Obviously, Sunday night isn’t the night but this guy is clearly North Philly trash and has no manners. He greeted me obnoxiously and only tended to his friends. I’m sad for this bar because it was good. The owner robin needs to understand that cheap bartenders will not help business.

Conshy crush is banging. Liquor and tang. Small place gets crowded easily. Bartenders are mildly enthusiastic but conshy is now filled with hipsters and burnouts so what can you expect. Fair price for drinks $ 8 for a crush

Fun local bar in Conshy! We really liked their brunch… got there right at 10 and they were empty, we loved it! Bloody Mary bar!!! Also they had on Billy Joel radio which was perfection. Food was really good, got eggs, bacon and pancakes. Beer selection is hit-or-miss. We really liked Guppy’s though, def recommend for brunch in Conshy.

Whenever I’m partying in Conshy, it is inevitable that I end up at Guppy’s. Hopefully, if I planned it well enough, it is after the live music ends(usually around 10). I love live music just as much as the next girl, but the ceilings are too low and the bar is too small to support it, and it gets crazy loud in there. I realize that makes me sound old, but it’s the truth. This bar apparently has sushi? I haven’t gotten to try it yet since I usually get there after the sushi chef leaves, but I hope some day to try it! I did order a cheeseburger quesadilla the last time I was there. It was pretty tasty. Very greasy, but after a night of binge drinking that works for me. There are a fair amount of craft brews on tap which makes Mallory a happy girl. The bartenders are pretty friendly, especially the bald guy. He’s super cool. The crowd is young and I do feel like an old lady when I’m here, but it’s a cool spot that I will likely continue to patronize whenever I’m drinking in conshy.

I have been coming to Guppy’s for years and have just realized I’ve never written a review. Guppy’s is your average good neighborhood bar but with an interesting food menu. There are daily specials that are well advertised on their main wall, which I always appreciate and I’m sure the bartenders appreciate me not having to ask what the specials are every day. Some of my favorite specials include five dollar Conshy crushes on Friday evenings, and cheap bloody Mary’s on Sundays(possibly $ 3?), and their newest special on Tuesdays is BOGO sushi rolls. They also often have live music, and it’s always been good, but I haven’t kept track of which days of the week they have it. My biggest wish is that they would put their weekly specials on their website. I think the menu sets the bar apart from other Conshohocken watering holes. It’s not large, or absurdly creative. It’s just quality food, done right. I recently had the wings for the first time, and they were seriously some of the best wings I’ve ever had. I like that they have a chalkboard posted with daily food specials too. Not cheap specials, but just items that the kitchen felt like whipping up that day. The kitchen recently added a sushi chef and a respectable menu of several designer rolls and common rolls that they serve Tuesday-Sunday evenings after 5. The rolls are definitely not cheap, but that’s what you get for asking for sushi from a bar! They have to be able to make a profit on it in order to keep selling it. The BOGO deal on Tuesdays is buy one specialty roll, get one regular roll free. Not a bad deal at all! And both rolls tasted delicious. I would not recommend coming here for your real sushi dinners, but it’s such a great option for a local fix since there’s no real competition in the area. The draft list is always rotating and has a good selection of brews as well. It’s a smaller space, and can get really crowded during peak times. There’s a space to play darts as well as a Golden Tee machine, if you need more entertainment than alcohol. Guppy’s attracts a young-ish clientele, so you’ll see mostly adults under 30 at the bar. And like many other places in Conshohocken, it’s definitely not a bar to go to if you’re looking to mingle and meet new people. Most people flock to the bars in tight-knit groups of friends and couples. Perhaps they do this because they carpool, since parking can be an issue on busy nights. There is a lot right across the street, but it’s very small and when if it fills up, you have to find a spot amidst a small selection of street parking. It’s not a problem most nights, but definitely on the weekends.

Great food. Great service. Great music. Not too busy on Sunday night. Had the burger and would highly recommend. Fiancé had the nachos and loved them. Also get the orange crush drink!

I have been to Guppy’s several times prior to this review. It is conveniently located near my condo, so I hoped that it would get better. Sadly, I never experienced the good times. My boyfriend says their cheesesteak is good(I’ve never tried it). All of the food I have tried is mediocre to blah. During one visit, I ordered a couple sushi rolls: The Big Tuna and I don’t remember the other one. Both were smothered with sauce and spicy mayo. Is this sushi made for people who don’t actually want to taste the fish? Both rolls tasted practically the same. Their specialty rolls contain the same kinds of fish, which is probably why(crab stick, salmon, shrimp tempura and spicy tuna). If you want good quality sushi, I would suggest somewhere else. Most recently, my boyfriend and I shared the nachos with chicken and the honey hot wings. The wings were ok. There are better ones in Conshy, plus they were not hot(temperature wise) when they were served. The nachos were pathetic; handful of black beans, melted shredded cheese, and small bits of chicken. The menu states that queso fresco, corn, and sour cream come on the nachos as well, but not this night! Lastly.the drinks. I should have learned my lesson the other times I’ve been here, but I always have an optimistic attitude. maybe things have gotten better. The spirit beverages are watered down and tasteless. As I look around the room, everyone is drinking beer except me. If this happened once, I could blame it on a poorly trained bartender, but it has happened several times. I’m not going to pay $ 7 for a watered down drink. I will go elsewhere. On my most recent visit, the service was kind of slow, but this was a weekend night and only three servers/bartenders working the whole place. They were obviously busy trying to keep up with the demanding drink and food orders. Our server was nice, but we would have appreciated knowing the drink specials and food specials before we ordered. I’m sure I will be back to Guppy’s; I’m lazy and it is so close to me. Plus, I like to think that owners will end up listening to their patron’s reviews. Or maybe I will become a beer drinker.

My husband and I came here for dinner on a Sunday around 6p, mind you the bar was full and guests at tables for dinner as well. We’ve been avoiding this place for a while after having not good experiences but wanted to give it another shot. The service was terrible, the bartender/waitress didn’t say hi just«do you know what you want to drink?» with a big wad of gum in her mouth. She did give us menus, brought our drinks and then didn’t acknowledge us again. Two seats opened up at the bar so we moved there to try to obtain better service. Well the guy bartender paid us no attention. We quickly finished our drinks, put down the only cash we had and left. I’m not sure if the right interviewing questions are being asked or if they even need to demonstrate customer service skills. I’m sure Sunday evenings are B-list staff however it’s enough up make us not come back here sadly when we live right down the street. Best of luck w the 20 something crowd but us 30 something’s don’t appreciate it.

I have never felt moved to write a Unilocal review for a restaurant. I have worked in the service industry for 8 years, and at one time my job was to respond to Unilocal reviews, so I know how bad it is to read a negative one. I also really appreciate guppy’s dedication to being a sustainable part of the conshy community. That being said, I had the worst service experience of my life tonight. My friends and I arrived 15 minutes before the end of happy hour and sat at a high top. We asked the waiter about happy hour specials and two of us chose to order drinks. We all ordered food. We made sure to place the order for our second drink before the end of happy hour. Our food came, we ate(it was delicious), and the waiter came back a twice to ask if he could clear plates. We were still picking at a couple of things, and he eventually left us… For over an hour. Empty drinks, empty water glasses. Yes we said we were picking, but not for the next HOUR. No sign of our waiter. If he was going to leave, he could have asked to drop our check while we were still eating, and we would have understood. We may have ordered another round of drinks or more food in that time, but eventually we just wanted the check. We had to grab a waitress who was clearing the next table over and tell her we hadn’t seen our waiter in a very long time, and we wanted the check. She returned with our bill, our waiter was still nowhere to be seen. We asked what happened to him and she replied he was busy with another table. I expressed how long we had been waiting, and that we would appreciate if she could compensate us in some way for the inattentive service. She returned with the bill, having removed the cost of one of our appetizers. The bill did not reflect the cost of our happy hour drinks. Only one of four happy hour drinks total between two of us was discounted. I pointed this out, and she replied that my order of «vodka tonic» wasn’t specific enough to be considered a happy hour«you-call-it» drink. At this point I was feeling tired of arguing over the bill. I don’t want to be that person, but we were feeling neglected and taken advantage of. I asked to speak to a manger, and the woman replied that she was the manager, and she had already spoken to the waiter who had been serving us. She then condescendingly told us that after a certain time of night the table service stops. To which I replied that we should have been given our check, or told to go to the bar, if that was the case. She went back and discounted one more of the happy hour drinks. Now two of the four drinks we had ordered during happy hour were discounted. I said that still wasn’t right. We had been mindful of the time we ordered, and knew it was before happy hour was over. She then replied«okay fine, I’ll go take the TWO dollars off for you,» in an extremely rude tone of voice. It shouldn’t have taken that much back and forth to get our accurate check. We were all feeling embarrassed and annoyed. When she did bring it, we asked her to split the bill between two credit cards — not 50⁄50 — and told her specifically how much to charge to each card. Of course, she ended up charging the wrong amount to each card. We just signed the checks and left. All of this was avoidable. Myself and my friends work in the service industry, and want to be gracious and understanding. Every step of our communication with the staff from the time we said we had been waiting was uncomfortable and confrontational. I am hesitant to believe the woman who helped us with our bill was the manager. And if she was, I highly recommend a change in management.

The only bar that I go to in Conshy is also the only place in town to get SUSHI! Been coming here since it was the only bar back in 2008 that was no smoking. Food is excellent: cheese steaks, burgers(Wowee), Amanda Fries and now SUSHI! Since Spamps closed we were left without a place to get good sushi in Conshy. However, the always enterprising Robin(proprietor) worked out a deal with the sushi chef and gave him a space to craft his magic at Guppies. The fish is the same great quality. This is not grade B fish folks this is grade A. I need all of you sushi lovers to support them so that I can continue to have Sushi in Conshy! Great specials daily and revolving choice of area drafts on tap! Bottles of everything else. Robin has done an excellent job of making Good Times in Conshy. I can’t believe how busy it is now compared to 8 years ago. These places are few and far between and I am proud to be a patron.

Good Times at Guppy’s Good Times! I stop in here regularly after golfing at Tee’s up the street. Doesn’t look like much from the outside… couple tables for outdoor seating, some smokers smoking… very unassuming neighborhood bar. Inside… also very unassuming… not much to it really… they have a main bar area, then 2 smaller rooms off of the bar, where we chose to sit. The main bar area wasn’t full, but some of the patrons were singing so loudly(garth brooks, friends in low places) it certainly sounded like it was packed! Some locals having fun on a hot summer night… I’m fine with it, especially if I can distance myself from it by sitting in another section of the bar! Decent beer selection, service was friendly and prompt. The bartender was also our server and had no problem taking care of us as well as the rowdy crowd on the other side of the bar. Stopped back to check on us and get us drinks during our brief stay… I had the burger which appears to be a hand formed patty and was quite delicious! I highly recommend you try one! My wife had the Kathy Romano wrap(grilled chicken, mozzarella, guacamole, chipotle cream with a side salad) and enjoyed it thoroughly! We were very impressed with the food here! Ambience is lacking as it is a bit of a beer bar, but I’m OK with that as long as the place is reasonably clean, which Guppy’s is!

This unassuming bar just off main street conchehocken delivers small time charm, and good food in a casual setting. Its nothing remarkable, just a good neighborhood bar with decent food and good drinks. The real draw here is the cheap beer, and my fellow 20somethings. The food is good, and the waffle burger is off the(artery clogging) hook!

Guppy’s is that local, almost dive-ish bar that you go to drink and hang out. Located right at the corner of Maple and Elm, there is plenty of on street parking nearby. I didn’t get a chance to try any of their eats, but their draft beer selection was good and I enjoyed a couple micro’s that really hit the spot. So, I’d say this place is aptly named… bring some fun friends, get a little loud and crazy, and have a good time… at Guppy’s.

Love this place! We randomly walked in here walking by one day not expecting it to be what it is but have been back many times since. The food is surprisingly excellent and one of the best spots for food in conshy. The atmosphere is nice and the service is great. Friday and Saturday nights can get really crowded and more of a typical weekend bar scene so if that’s not your thing, go during the day.
