As often as my waistline will allow, I go to Salsa’s Café for the migas plate for breakfast. It may be a strip mall restaurant, but this is a great breakfast at a great price. The huevos ranchero are also delicious. When I happen to want Mexican food for lunch, this is my choice. The owner and the waitresses are all very friendly and service is fast. If you’re in Converse, eat here!

We loved it! Five of us ate there for about 21.00 dollars and the service was great! Not a fancy place by any means but it’s really good.

I visited this place for the first time today and it was the worst plate of Mexican food I’ve ever had. The rice was yellow, salty and mushy. The enchiladas were hard and the beans were bland. I don’t recommend this place. Once I took a look at my to go plate, I knew I had made a mistake. It was awful!

Went for Sunday at lunch. Service was quick, food was hot and quite good. Waitress was attentive. Prices reasonable and portions descent. Worth a quick bite!

Felt like this place was underrepresented by Unilocalers, so I drove over to Converse with a Restaurant certificate. This place is located right near the San Antonio/Converse line next to Walmart on Hwy 78/Seguin Rd. I entered the strip mall center to find the place packed. There were many Spanish-speaking families, military people, and women lunching together after shopping, all a good sign. I have to disagree with the other Unilocaler about bland food; this food was flavorful, moist, and tender. He must have have gotten something on an off day. I got the fajitas combo for one(beef, chicken, and shrimp) $ 9.99, which comes with tortillas and pinto or borracho beans. The borracho beans were the best I have had, and the fajitas came out with smoke trailing back to the kitchen. It took 2 minutes before I could take the picture. I wouldn’t get the shrimp next time because they leave the tails on. The beef and chicken were well caramelized, yet juicy and tender. They must have been marinated for a long time because the flavor in the meat was so deep, which was then enhanced by that skillful sauteing to perfection. The tortillas were good but not the best I’ve had, but the thin chips and table salsa were very good(chips are not free; $ 1.25 for a little basket, but they will bring you more). They have homemade cakes and pies, Mexican sodas, and candies. Daily specials are $ 6.75, which includes 2 sides and drink. If you live in Universal city, Schertz, or NorthEast, SA near Converse, I would check them out. I wouldn’t drive across SA to come here. I gave them 4 stars because they delivered on service, flavor, value, and cleanliness. On a follow up visit I caught some gristle in the beef fajitas.

Food is bland, but ok if not looking for much and a cheap meal.
