Karen Knopff owns and runs the vacation rental company North Myrtle Beach Rental Property also known as Kraft Real Estate. I have several concerns regarding customer service but my main concern is as follows. Ms. Knopff requires prospective tenants to submit a $ 1000 deposit before she will allow them to see the rental agreement. After submitting the deposit I found the following clause in the rental agreement, «If at the time the tenant is to begin occupancy of the house and the owner cannot provide the premises for whatever reason, we will substitute another property of equal size or larger. If no other properties are available, the only liability is to refund payments to the tenant.» When I questioned the«for whatever reason» portion of the above statement and requested that it say something like«due to an act of nature or damages from a prior tenant» or anything that would acknowledge that I could expect the property to be available unless it were uninhabitable or there was potential for bodily harm. Ms. Knopff refused and without discussion stated she was canceling my reservation and returning my check. This took place May 1, 2013. My check has not been returned and Ms. Knopff is no longer responding to my email. I have submitted a formal complaint to The Better Business Bureau.
