The Sentimental Journey Orchestra(«SJO») provided live music during my company’s 25th anniversary party last weekend at Fernbank. One of my coworkers knows one of the members of the SJO, so that was our connection. The SJO is based in Atlanta and has been performing«big band» arrangements at various events for over 30 years. I have to say these guys are pretty awesome. As soon as I saw the multi-tiered orchestra and the old school music band stands, I felt like I had been transported back 70 years. The musicians that showed up for our event made up a 19-piece band(IIRC), which consisted of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, flutes, clarinets, drums, guitar, cello and a beautiful female vocal. The members of the SJO come from all ages and walks of life. Some are retired professionals while others are active doctors, lawyers, professors(one from Georgia Tech!), military personnel, engineers, teachers, band instructors, and more. They were all very talented and did a fantastic job as evidenced by all of us who got out on the dance floor. There wasn’t enough space for everyone! If you’re looking for a classic big band orchestra for your event, I highly recommend the SJO. In light of this review, I’d like to provide a link to «In the Mood»(1939) popularized by Glenn Miller. Enjoy! … #Yelp365 — 57⁄365
