I am giving this place two stars. One for the view, and the other for the meal my boyfriend had. First off, the view is gorgeous. You are right on the lake and can eat outside in nice weather. My boyfriend got the gyro lamb wrap and absolutely loved it. Raved about it. I ordered two eggs scrambled with toast and home fries. This is a really simple order and can honestly say I have not had another place mess this up. My eggs came out omelet-style, but the inside was completely uncooked. I can understand a sunny side up egg having a runny yolk, but this was runny egg whites and scrambled eggs. Completely still liquid. This was a completely easy fix in my mind. When the waitress comes back, I will just ask her to put it back on the grill for 2 minutes. The issue was that our waitress did not come back for 25 minutes. I ate my potatoes and toast and both were good. The eggs could have been fine, but she never came back. Other servers came to the tables around us and frequently checked on other diners, but ours was nowhere to be found. I am assuming this was just either a bad day for the waitress or that if you get another waitress your experience will be fine, but ours unfortunately was not a good experience.

Stopped into the Lake Front Restaurant for breakfast and it was a great experience. This restaurant is right on the water as its name suggests and connected to the marina. It was a bit chilly so we sat inside and were seated right away. I ordered a short stack and eggs while my boyfriend had the Hungry Harbor Master special(pancakes or french toast, bacon, eggs and toast). The food was what you would expect from a local diner just beware of the grape jelly; I think it was been there a while so it has the brownish color to it. Overall, great local spot to grab a bite and enjoy the scenery and right down the hill from the Hall of Fame.

Mediocre food with an amazing view. Décor is more Jersey than Cooperstown. If I was just rating on food, it would have been two stars. The wine list was bleh and the $ 8 glass I had was not great. But that view…

Had a very pleasant breakfast last week(August 25, 2015) at the foot of Otsego Lake in Lake Front Restaurant. Choice between indoor and outdoor seating was a tough one, as the morning was crisp and the outdoors were beckoning, but my daughter and I opted for an inside window table with a beautiful view of the lake, complete with ducks and seagulls frolicking about. What more could we ask? A great breakfast with polite service, which is exactly what we got! A good cup of coffee which our server refilled often and delicious pancakes and sausages. I had the mixed berry pancakes, which were excellent, along with perfectly cooked breakfast sausage. My daughter had the raspberry pancakes, which she enjoyed also. Be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Lake Front Restaurant is well worth a visit.

The food was just good, the view was even better, and we had a very friendly waitress. The fact that I could hear the daily operational issues was a little irritating but we just assumed the manager must have«call out.» The wait staff seemed to be running the front of the house.

We stopped here for lunch before heading over to the Baseball Hall of Fame. We sat outside and enjoyed a BEAUTIFUL view of the lake and the gorgeous weather that graced the Catskill/Cooperstown region of New York. My wife and I both had the crab cake sandwich. Next time, I think I will just have the crab cakes on their own, as the bread the sandwich was served on was just too much when compared to the small size of the crab cakes. The best thing we ate at the Lake Front was the Clam Chowder. Holy smokes this was one of the best New England Clam Chowders I have ever had. What I absolutely loved was how the pieces of potato were small and not the size of small cruise ships that over dominated the soup. My friend ordered a second bowl of the soup because it was so delicious. Come here for the amazing patio/view, the food is okay, but the view makes up for it.

Four stars for the view, two for the food, and three for the service make this an A-OK spot in Cooperstown. Less than a 10-minute walk from Main Street, Lake Front Restaurant is set right on Otsego Lake, and adjacent to Glimmerglass State Park. Going for dinner, I started with a lobster bisque, which came out extremely watery. Fortunately, my cajun crawfish entrée, served over pasta alfredo made up for the forgettable bisque. Entrees are served with a house salad — nice touch — but having been here before, I still can’t help but somehow feel they scaled back on the food quality to pay for their recent renovations. Service was friendly, but extremely slow. Thankfully, with the nice view we had, we weren’t in too much of a rush to leave. All in all, a decent meal… maybe coming from NYC has made be picky and/or jaded, but I think these guys can do better.

It is pricey for what you get. In addition, our food was flooded in melted butter. This is a sign that the cook is not good and needs to add flavor to the meal.

Absolute worst experience I’ve ever had. Sat at the bar before eating and waiting for friends. It was extremely busy and the bar staff was great. Sat down at table. Waited an hour for appetizers. Food came almost 2 hours later and half of what we ordered was not included. Waitress never came back in between and then was yelling at us when we complained about the wait and blamed the cooks and bar staff There was a table next to us that turned over 3 times while we waited. the manger was also rude and argued back. Never complained before and never had such a bad experience. It’s a shame because it was a nice place but so poorly run w/lack of professional leadership.

Overall breakfast experience was okay. Everything on the menu is a la carte, my order of veggie omelet got me just that. However, it was delicious. No hash browns. An order of a large OJ is rather small, bloody mary was not a disappointment.

It seems from the reviews diner’s experiences are hit or miss. Well for this Unilocaler it was a hit. The combination of the atmosphere(really cute bright nautical theme, spotless restaurant) and beautiful scenery(what a gorgeous lake!) and good food made this a 5 star for me.(Also being able to drink and be merry: P then walk a few steps to my hotel room was a plus!). Had wonderful dining experience. Came in for dinner on a Sunday and it was pretty busy. We were seated right by the front window and had a terrific view of the lake. The food was really good. We had some blue point oysters and an order of clam steamers to start, both perfect ;) I went with the crab cake sandwich with yucca fries and my fella had the broiled seafood combo dinner. Both dishes were outstanding. Crab cake had good seasoning, not a lot of filler so packed with crab meat and it was a nice big cake. I loved the yucca fries, they were cooked perfectly and a nice twist from your normal old french fries. The seafood platter was perfectly prepared, the fish was fresh and tasty. Paired with local beer and wine, we were happy :) The servers are really nice and busy and we had to wait for their attention a few times(my only complaint), but the whole experience was a good one. We were definately not rushed out! The staff sang Happy Bithday to my fella(surprised him with chocolate lava cake. rich dark chocolate. soo good!). We stayed at the hotel so used our breakfast vouchers. Breakfast was delish. OMG the corned beef hash is awsome! French toast also good, had it with bacon ;) Breakfast servers were great and super friendly. Can’t wait to return!

Perfect atmosphere, view, and dinner food. We were seated quickly and had a great view of the lake. Other reviews are negative on the service, but we received great service. Really, really good burgers.

We stayed at Lake Front two nights. Had a great dinner one evening with a fine NY wine and breakfast two mornings. Good breakfast with great service from Donna. We would stay at the Lake Front again.

What a mess. We were so excited to go somewhere quaint with a beautiful view. Our excitement quickly dwindled when instead of coffee they served burnt tea and laughed about how many other people must have had that by accident. The server took our drink order three different times in between receiving complaints from other tables. Once we finally had our drinks we were never offered refills or checked in with. To really articulate everything that went wrong with this place I’ll have to write it in list form. 1. Our water cups were broken 2. We ordered everything all at once to speed things up and waited 1 hour for grilled cheeses and hamburgers 3. The entire wait and bar staff went missing at one point. Only then did we look over and found them all eating in various corners of the restaurant. 4. The tables were never bussed until each new party(including ours) waited for a table. We even called 15 minutes ahead to secure a spot for the 6 of us. They did however leave all the trays with the bussed items on bar stools or other empty tables around the dinning room. 5. Once we finally received our food we waited another 10 minutes for the last grilled cheese to come out. 6. The fries were ice cold. The hamburger was tough and cold. The sandwiches were dry. 7. Instead of using the server stands for their trays the server used our table to serve the neighboring table. 8. Half way through our meal the server brought us our check«in case it got busy later on»… It didn’t. 9. When the restaurant was still not busy we had to bring our check up ourselves and waited an additional 15 minutes for them to process the transaction. 10.The sever laughed at our orders but would not recommend anything else. Although the the views were stunning, the whole experience seemed like bad joke. Hopefully management can shape this place up.

We went at 1pm on a Saturday. Restaurant was half full but a 5 minute wait to sit and a 20 minute wait to have a waitress come to our table(and if I wouldn’t have asked I don’t think they would have ever come). They literally left a busboy stand with dirty dishes and a pile of trash and food they had swept into a pile next to our table the whole time we were there(see picture). View was nice and food was mediocre. If you order a sandwich get the mayo on the side — mine had a pound of mayo on it. There are lots better options in Cooperstown.

Not sure about the bad reviews. We went on a Wednesday evening. We weren’t really hungry so I ordered from the lite side of the menu. Hubby ordered clams and a side salad. Everything very good, quick service. All the food we saw being served looked good. They even have happy hour specials at the small bar. Beautiful location on the lake. A small park and walking path nearby. A classier place to eat than the restaurants on Main St. Although, those places are good too.

What a horrible place. We came at 2:30 in the afternoon looking to have a couple of drinks on the deck and enjoy the beautiful weather and view. We stood for 5 minutes while all the staff stood around talking. When they finally acknowledged us we asked to sit outside and the hostess rolled her eyes and said ‘ugh, the waitress is going to flip if I give her another table’ even though most outside tables were empty. She told us to go outside and sit anywhere. The bus boy ended up having to seat us. When we said we just wanted drinks he brought the drink menu. Then the waitress never came to the table. My husband ended up going inside to the bar to order our drinks and bring them to the table himself. We watched as all the tables around is were helped by the bus boy while the waitresses did nothing. The table next to us waited a really long time for their check and when the girl finally came out she said ‘sorry that took me so long, they were all talking inside and I lost track’. Then, another waitress came back with his credit card and was asking around as to who’s card it was. Good thing we paid in cash… Wouldn’t trust then with my credit card. The only thing they have going for them is the view, but even that isn’t worth it. Terrible, terrible place. I’ll never set foot there again. The bus boy was a hard worker and should find another place to work where he can show his talents and actually get paid for them.

Nice location, low service standards(2 visits), food poorly prepared. This restaurant has a nice location overlooking the lake. We visited on two different Sundays a couple months apart. On both occasions we experienced similar issues. The service standards aren’t good. From our most recent visit: We were promptly seated and our order was taken. Coffee, juice and water arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The coffee was hot. There was an unbussed table in a nearly empty dining room. After a while the dirty plates were moved to a tray, but the tray with the dirty dishes was left in the dining room for 15 minutes. There were dead bugs on several of the window sills inside the dining room. A radio station playing 1980’s hits was playing loudly. I enjoyed the music, though it seemed an odd choice for a Sunday morning breakfast. Our server did not return to refill our coffee & water before the meal arrived. The meals arrived in a reasonable amount of time. A half empty ketchup bottle was brought to the table with the meal(good that ketchup was delivered with the meal, bad that it was half empty). The pancakes were quite thin and not fluffy. The omlette was overcooked. The homefries were also quite overcooked and tough. Also, they were just cubes of fried potatoes(no onions, garlic, tomatoes, or spices). The salsa for the Mexican omlette was good. Fresh tasting, possibly even house made. It was not typical sysco corn syrup salsa. The server did not come back to check on our table. I saw an individual from a different table get up to go to the wait station to get ketchup. I saw another server deliver juice glasses by holding them from the top of the cups. Servers should use beverage trays and hold glasses from the bottom. I don’t want someone’s sweaty palm on the rim of my glass. Our server greeted a new party two tables down from us, but still did not come over to check on our meal or offer refills on coffee and water. After ten minutes with no check back, I went up to the hostess stand to ask my server for refills on coffee and water. The server was somewhat apologetic. The refill on the coffee was hot. As we finished our meals our dishes were not cleared and remained on the table. I asked for the check and it was delivered. The server did not come back to get the check, I had to go to the host stand to give it to her. In my opinion this restaurant needs a manager to train waitstaff on common service expectations. I saw similar issues across two visits and witnessed other tables not receiving good service. There are several good options for breakfast in Cooperstown. Unless you have a burning need to look at the lake while eating, this is not one of them. One of the two bathrooms is marked as handicapped accessible. There’s a ramp leading to a packed gravel parking lot. The gravel is tightly packed enough to probably not pose a problem for a wheelchair. The tables in the dining room are somewhat close and might pose a slight obstacle for wheelchair access. In summary: refill coffee & water, check back one or two minutes after dropping food, clean the windows, don’t put home fries under a heat lamp, pre-bus dirty dishes from tables & remove them from the dining room, use beverage trays, don’t hold glasses from the top. Positives: hot coffee, good salsa, nice view.

Ate lunch; taking advantage of the outdoor seating. I thought it was slightly overpriced, but nothing i wouldnt expect from a waterfront restaurant in a tourist town. My turkey club was delicious and plated interestingly, but not so much as to be pretentious. My girlfriend’s chicken panini was a mess though. Way too many flavors for such a traditionally tasty item. It probably would have been ok if some ingredients were omitted, like SD tomato pesto, rosemary and sauteed spinach. Service was quick and pretty friendly, a lot of young employees, so its bound to be hit or miss. I would go back, its a little pricey but overall decent place.
