We came here the night before our visit to the Hall of Fame. We didn’t leave MA. till late and so we arrived around 11:00PM. I had texted John(the innkeeper) that this was likely and he kept us informed of the room and where the key would be. He was very responsive. We only stayed that night but the place was very comfortable. It is an old home but very charming. I think the floor in the Hutchinson room is a little unlevel — I took the low side hoping my lovely bride would roll into me. It was unlevel enough :) The breakfast was outstanding — I can still taste those biscuits with local jelly. John seems to love cooking and it shows. Bacon, eggs and homefries. I think we hit a homerun staying here. It isn’t expensive and we felt at home even before we arrived.

We came to see the Hall of Fame and settled in here for two nights. If you’re planning a trip, I would highly recommend you come here as well. It is a very nice place, but the breakfast is spectacular. They’re open to letting you pick a meal, and I tried waffles, sausage, eggs, they give you a plate full of biscuits — my goodness, it’s all delicious. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in as long as I can remember. Even the coffee is delicious stuff. I have too much shame to gorge myself stupid in someone else’s home, but I easily could have and secretly wish I would have. The owners are very accommodating, too. You’re in their home, but they never make you feel like you’re intruding on their space. That is a big plus. The problems with the place are beyond their control — there’s nothing around, so once you come in for the night, you’re pretty much stuck indoors. But that’s a Cooperstown problem. There’s just not much to do after 8. We even ventured around to find a nice place to eat, and it’s shocking for a city guy like me to drive around such a rural area in the pitch darkness finding so little life around. Also, there’s a fair amount of bugs, but I guess that’s what you get when you’re in the mountains. We weren’t bothered by it. Pro tip: GPSes of all kinds have no idea how to get here. Unilocal and google maps were confused. Google maps asked if we meant County Hwy 33 W — that is not the right one. Check out all the options the GPS gives you — Willow Tree is about 10 miles north of the Hall of Fame.

My fiancé and I wanted to spend a couple of days in Cooperstown NY during Memorial Day. We didn’t know that this was also the weekend for the Baseball Hall of Fame induction, so most bed and breakfasts in the area were booked. The Willow Tree Inn is a bit further down Highway 33 than Google Navigation showed at the time, but it’s a pretty good place to stay. The owners John and Kim are super-nice, they have 2 – 3 dogs and the place is dog-friendly. Parking is pretty good, breakfast is great, rooms are spacious, clean. The only minor negative things were: 1. water pressure for showers was a bit low 2. our room’s bathroom was in the hall Tip: when staying at the Willow Tree Inn, if you use Google Navigation to go into Cooperstown, don’t let Google Navigation send you down Van Yahres Road, which is a super-steep seasonal road heading into Otsego Lake.

We booked March, right after the B&B opened. I had never stayed and a Bed and Breakfast. My girlfriend loves them, so I was apprehensively excited. The house was still under some renovations, and we were okay with that. We stayed in Room 1, and it was a pretty big room. The house was very comfortable and open, with a great deck and view out the back. John and Kim(and Emily) couldn’t have been nicer. Breakfast is more than complete daily, and they’ll make you whatever you want for dinner(salmon, steak, fried chicken, veggies). Only down part is there are a ton of ladybugs on the mountain, and without screens on all of the windows, they tend to get into the house. Otherwise, it was a really nice experience.
