Customer care got back to me and over rode the rep who was not answering my calls or responding emails. The lady who contacted me, Michelle, got things going. A tech dropped by last Friday to assess the situation and fixed the issues today. I am really pleased with the resolution and the work corrected.

A chipping bath tub has nothing to do with eating fries while bathing. Flaking and moldy tiles aren’t the latest craze in cheeses. Instead it was the state of our bathroom before the miraculous Bath Fitter materialized like a genie granting us the wish of a better bathroom. I admit to knowing little or nothing about physical things like plumbing, tub painting or glazing. I prefer glazed donuts to having to reglaze a tub so the DIY buy a kit from amazon and hope for the best approach wasn’t really an option. I talked to my building’s mgmt office and they told me of the Bath Fitter. Internet research revealed a location in Long Island and one web form later I was set up with an appointment for a consultation. The salesman was punctual, informative and the total opposite of the hard sell or desperate Willy Loman type. He explained the options available, showed me samples of the type of refitting available and about 30 minutes later I was set up with an appointment to get the work done. What really helped was using the web site before the sales meeting. We were able to select what appealed to us prior to the meeting and simply confirm that it was do-able with the salesman. Now where Bath Fitter excelled beyond imagination was having to deal with the frustrations of setting this all up in a co-op. Co-ops are a kind of organization that seem straight out of Soviet Russia, with boards, rules, more rules and did I say rules? All of the insurance requirements were handled flawlessly by Bath Fitter. When they arrived to do the work and discovered that my building hadn’t turned off the water(despite being notified in advance), Bath Fitter was on it. When the building couldn’t offer up a solution that day, Bath Fitter was back the next, right on time and ready to get things done. The Bath Fitter installer was professional and efficient, working like a one man dynamo to set things up and finish the job right. And so the whole promise of a refit, remodeled bath in one day was delivered right before my very eyes.(Ignoring the co-op caused delay) Pricing seemed fair, with the required 1⁄3 down before work and rest due upon completion. I was able to ask for a better price which knocked enough off to make me feel as if my negotiating skills were good for something besides settling day to day work issues. For those unaware of the Bath Fitter premise, they basically put another layer over the tub and wall, like veneers for teeth, masking the muck and mire. What remains is a clean and comfortable set up that looks like an entirely new setup without the astronomical price tag.(Or week of contractors trying to set things up) Too bad there isn’t a Kitchen Fitter, Living Room Fitter or Bedroom Fitter that would redo those room as quickly and efficiently as the Bath.
