Strawberry Acres

Went here and was treated very rudely. Business needs to be run more professionally. We ended up going to Gogle farms down the street and had a MUCH better experience.

I went here for the first time in the peach picking season and just went again for apple picking. I love that there isn’t an admission price which is great since you can’t just pick a few fruits and be happy with it. I end up with a whole box in a few minutes haha.
Cute animals and tons of delicious looking jams, spreads, desserts ect in the shop. It’s around 25.00 each time I went for a whole box of fruit. It’s more pricey per pound then the grocery store but it’s not as fun picking from the store.
Staff is always friendly and so many trees to pick from and many different kinds of each fruit. Will definitely make it a usual place to go.

Our family is in love with this place. The other night at dinner, we all raised our glasses to toast, and usually we say «Cheers!» but my three-​year-​old instead exclaimed, «Strawberry Acres!» (Yes, he’s a fan!)
They offer lots of different types of fruit for pick-​your-​own; so far we’ve picked cherries, peaches, pears, and apples. It’s been wonderful to find a place that does more than just apples and pumpkins. Every driver we’ve had has been great with our kids, and the rest of the staff is friendly as well. I’ve seen people complaining about the fact that they got assigned to a specific tree to pick from, but that’s how they do things here; it helps keep things organized. We buy at least four pounds of fruit each time we pick, and I’ve never been assigned to a tree that didn’t have more than enough healthy fruit to choose. (Well, actually, once they assigned us to a tree that was low on cherries but allowed us to pick from the next tree as well since we asked politely. It sounds like the people that were dissatisfied with their experience weren’t very willing to follow the rules!)
They also have a farm market, where they sell their own fruit (pre-​picked) as well as fruit and vegetables from other local farms. Their prices per pound are good. In fact, last year we barely bought any produce from the grocery store because we bought so much from Strawberry Acres. (We go through lots of fruit and vegetables, so that’s saying something!)
There’s a bakery indoors, too. We’ve only tried a few things (cookies, muffins, pastries) but that was all delicious, too.
Basically, I have no complaints about this place. It’s one of those spots that makes you feel good about supporting local businesses, and we visit about once a week during their open season because we love them so much.
Note: This is an outdoor venue, so be sure to keep an eye on their Facebook or call ahead if you’re planning to visit. When the weather gets rough they cancel their pick-​your-​own trips, and every now and then I think they’ve closed the market as well if weather is really terrible. It’s best to check in before driving over.

Very disappointed; took grandkids today to pick apples– new owners. The bus driver was rude. Beyond rude, you cannot wander around the trees, we were dropped off by two apple trees with rotting apples, we complained and were lectured by the old cranky bus driver who used his Wilkie-​talkie to tell the store we complained — such a shame. Not what it was — guess the new owners from India do not understand country living — please go some place else, it’s not the place you remember — so sad.

We have been going here for a few years with our daughter. Its a nice place for little kids but today was quite strange with the staff. Staff were making comments about «politics» working there, even making fun of the other tractor driver taking us out to the peaches. The woman that took us out to pick peaches was extremely rude when she started yelling at a grown adult for picking a peach from a tree she didn’t want her to (they have hundreds of peach trees). She went running over, and said, «You got to be kidding me!» She was rude the whole time, delivering our family to a tree with a bunch of rotten peaches to pick. Extreme controller who made this experience non enjoyable. Then we went back to pay and a little boy was sitting on a farm wagon and getting his picture taken. An older woman ran out and SCREAMED, «He may not sit on that, we just had that refinished at a cost of $ 700!» What? Is this a museum? I’m so confused. We probably won’t be back, we are very turned off by this place.

I love Strawberry Acres. It’s fun to go pick your own peaches, apples and pumpkins for Halloween. Also, they have great handmade kitchen towels and decorative door wreaths for sale. Love this place!

I didn’t think anything of this place honestly. There was nothing there worth driving for. The bakery was okay but one of the lady was sort of rude. The pumpkin patch was okay there was no real pumpkins worth getting.

We went here this past weekend to go apple picking. I had looked it up previously and it was rated the best place for apple picking in the lehigh valley so we gave it a shot. What a mistake. I understand it was a bad summer for growing apples but the pick your own should have been closed for the season then. Not only were ALL of the apples rotted or infested with bugs we were also followed around by one of the teenage employees and «assigned» a tree to pick from. When we wandered a little further from «our tree» we were ran after and told we had to go back. We were only looking for apples worth picking. Also, you have to separate your red and green apples but they are the same price? Strange… Plus, the price was no cheaper than if I purchased apples in the grocery store (and those apples would have been edible!) We decided to leave and just get some pre-​picked ones from the market… bad idea. Those apples were no better — holes and bruises all over them. «Maybe we’ll just get some apple cider?» $ 8.75 for a gallon of cider… and it wasn’t even made with apples from their orchard. Completely let down and will never go back.

I love going here to get pumpkins. What is awesome is you can push your stroller right up the hill and they have the pumpkins out in a field, no vines. My 19 month old son has no trouble walking through the pumpkins. And since there is no hayride to get the pumpkins, you can take your stroller, awesome! They have wagons you can wheel up the hill to bring your pumpkins back down.
If you want to take a ride, they have busses that take you to pick apples, which i have never done. They also have some goats for you to feed. Inside they have picked apples and other goodies, and they also have mums outside for a decent price. It is smaller than some of the other places around the valley, but it is really nice and we keep coming back here to get our pumpkins.

Strawberry Acres used to be a smaller operation (like 10 years ago) but it has leaped light years withing the last decade. Very popular and an incredible variety of apples and the like… no Strawberries though… that part of the operation went away 7 or 8 years ago.
This is a pick your own operation, but they also have pre picked items too. Peaches, apples, cherries, and raspberries are pick your own… other items are grown in the orchard and pre picked… and still more other items are brought in from farms in Lancaster.
PROS:
* This is a great place to take a girlfriend /​boyfriend or a whole family.
* Items are fresh (I mean. you pick it off the tree or bush for Pete’s sake)
*Friendly people… staff is great.
CONS:
* NOT CHEAP… often the price per pound is more expensive than the store.
* Bakery is «OK»…not great, not bad
Overall…this is a good place… and you will have a good time… trust me on that.
There are other operations that have pick your own all around this part of PA… some have looser rules… this has a wide variety though and pretty darn good apples at the core of their operation (sorry for the core comment… I couldn’t resist)

Strawberry Acres is no secret in the Lehigh Valley, and for good reason. They run one heck of an operation. You can get most, if not all regional produce here, most of which you can pick yourself. My favorite is to go apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. Love this place!
